"It's nice to finally meet you." she smiled in return. Then she turned to her brother. "Thank you." Feeling better now that she asked. "Oh. Arlight. I will." she understood even though she wasn't that close to the island state. "I'll see you later." she waved. 'I reckon I'll have to tell him my tale later then.'

Charlotte turned back to the nation. "You really are welcome to join us for dinner. That is if you don't mind being around with some crazy states." she laughed. "I invited Alfred too. I wonder if he would bring England along." she thought aloud. A bead of sweat ran down as she realized the current circumstance. "Oh that'll be interesing..."

Tennessee was startled when he heard someone start to sing along with his guitar and opened his eyes. Whatever he'd been expecting, it certainly wasn't Leilani standing in front of him. His fingers stilled and the music faded as he stared at her, surprised to hear the lyrics in his heart coming out of her mouth.

"L-Leilani..." he started as a soft blush came across his face. He glanced away nervously for a moment before looking back at her and any words he thought of died in his throat. Andrew was so bad at speaking when he got nervous, and Leilani was a sensitive girl. What could he do without making things worse? She knew what the song meant, didn't she? He hesitated a moment before shyly replaying the chorus again to her. When words failed, maybe music could communicate for hm.

That moment in time, that single solitary moment that she and her brother shared together, would be remembered for the rest of her life. She would remember everything about that moment. How the wind blew through his hair, rustling it like the golden plains that she had only see on the television. His dark eyes as the pupils dialated with them widening the moment he saw her; how they protrayed so much surprise and yet so much hurt, an apology hidden even beneath that as well. The way he said her name, that was what she was going to remember the most, that nervousness and yet, slight joy that came from his heart. She would never forget. But seeing that her name was all he said, along with a soft blush, the island state simply tried to put on a brave face and tilted her head to the side before parting her lips to reveal a bright smile, although still small was definitely larger than what she was used to. Then he began to replay the chorus of the song that had transfixed her in the beginning, which allowed her the opportune moment of walking closer to him, so that only his guitar and a few extra inches separated them. Staring up to him, she lifted one hand and placed it upon his shoulder, not wanting to disturb him as he played. "I'm sorry." She whispered to him as she gave it a reassuring squeeze that she meant what she said.

Tennessee couldn't help smiling softly as his sister apologized and he put down his guitar. "It's ok," he said, just glad she was talking to him again. "Um... I'm real sorry 'bout hurtin' your feelin's like that," he said. "I'll try to be nicer to you and your friends."

He hesitated as he looked from his guitar back to her. "Um... Do you like music, too?" he asked. "Would you like to sing more? I know other songs I can play if you want..."

Her mood changed again, remembering the ruckus she cased. She looked down to the ground her heart sinking.

Standing there, Leilani quirked a brow at his apology. He still thought that the reason she was mad at him was because he "wasn't nice to Raivis"? Oh dear, well, she'd better fix this now otherwise it might get worse later on "That's...not why I ran out of the room Andrew." She began as she let out a light sigh, preparing herself. "I was jealous of Cherelle and her relationship with you. You see, since I'm an island state I harely get to see you guys and therefore we don't know each other as well as I'd like us to. And umm, seeing how everyone accepted her and loved her even though she's an island on the other side of the world, I guess it just got to me. I was jealous that you had taken a liking to her so quickly when I...well...I had to wait a few hundred years to even make a small connection with you guys." She said, now looking at the ground, not wanting to make eye contact with her brother at the moment. She was still ashamed of her jealousy and how stupid it seemed. When he then asked her if she liked music, she nodded happily. "I love music, a lot of my islands' music is based off of guitar so yeah." She told him with a weak smile, attempting to look into his eye since she was still embarrassed.

Tennessee blinked at her confession and was thoughtful for a moment as he thought over what she said. He hadn't even drawn the comparison between her and Seychelles until Hawaii pointed it out nor had he given much thought to it. Honestly, he did feel like he had only just met Leilani even though they had known of each other for years. For some reason being with Cherelle had come naturally whereas getting to know his own sister was something Andrew already knew he would need to work at. It wasn't fair and the state was perplexed by this realization that he'd taken to a separate nation faster and easier than he had to Leilani. Even if it wasn't something he could help, it was something he felt ashamed of. No wonder she had been so upset and hurt...

"Then let's try to make a connection now," Tennessee said, knowing the first step to having a relationship with someone was to spend time together. He shouldered his guitar again and smiled at his sister. "I don't know your island's songs very well except what I've seen in California and Florida's shows... and we all know how accurate those are..." he muttered, having had a few strong words with his fellow southerner about the way Disney had portrayed himself and his people in the past. Andrew shook it off and smiled sheepishly at his sister. "Can you teach me a few songs?"

During that period of silence, where Leilani was looking at the ground, not wanting to make any sort of eye contact, was the longest moment of her life. The intensity that was held in the air, it could literally be cut with a knife. She just hoped that he wasn't angry with her that she was so distasteful about Cherelle and that he didn't see her as a selfish little child who didn't want other kids on the playground to play with her toys. But replacing "toys" with siblings sounds a lot better. But when Andrew finally spoke, the island state lifted her head to meet his gaze, smiling gratefully, very happy to learn that he wasn't mad at her. Hell, he looked way to forgiving but still, it just made her happy to know that he wasn't mad at her. "Thank you, big brother." She said in a voice just above a whisper before she stepped forward once his guitar was out of the way and the people have long dispersed before she reached forward and hugged him. She took this moment to almost snuggle against him, wanting to be as close to him as she possibly could, that was her way of finding comfort in a situation. But after a a few seconds, she let go and took a step back, her hands now behind her back as a light pink blush surfaced on her cheeks. "My songs of the islands?" She mused quickly as she looked up at the sky in thought. "Here," She said as she leaned over and adjusted the guitar slightly, so she could use it a bit better. "Try something like this." She said as she plucked a few strings. Playing the guitar is kind of like playing a dobro, so this was a bit easy for her; although most mainlanders used a "jet slide" so their fingers wouldn't hurt, Leilani has been doing this for so long she didn't need one. She then began to play a few chords of a song she loved.

Tennessee's cheeks flushed when Leilani moved forward to hug him. It only lasted a few moments, but time seemed to slow down when her arms wrapped around him. He was close to a large number of coastal states with beaches so it wasn't like Andrew had never been exposed to siblings with tropical climates and geography. Yet being close to them was nothing like this. Hawaii smelled like flowers and fresh sea breezes so pure that he nearly took a step back in surprise. It was the first time he had been properly hugged by the petite island and for the first time Tennessee got an idea of just how different she really was from the rest of them. When her hair moved past his ears for a brief moment the older state was confident he'd heard waves lapping against the beach. Even Florida with all the Keys and a plethora beaches didn't do that. Andrew was too stunned by this discovery to even think of shrinking back or behaving awkwardly and almost didn't notice when she pulled away until he felt his guitar being taken.

Tennessee blinked as his adopted sister coaxed new sounds from Nashville he didn't know his capital was even capable of. He watched in fascination as Leilani's delicate fingers trailed up and down the strings expertly as if the instrument were her own. The Volunteer State closed his eyes and listened to the unique, almost foreign melody reverberating through the air from his heart city.

When the musician had a good feel for her songs, he gently placed his hands on the guitar and sat next to his sister. Tennessee started to play, mimicking Leilani's sound and techniques from the brief lesson. He looked to her curiously for guidance every now and then as they played together. He wanted to make sure he didn't slip up too badly as Andrew, for the first time, took an active interest in Hawaii's culture.

Sitting on the bench together as brother and sister, playing Tennessee's most prized possession, Hawaii couldn't even believe such moments existed in this world. It was an amazing feeling, this national pride that was just beaming from her as her Eastern brother finally took an interest in her culture. Strumming the neck of the guitar with her fingernails while she glanced over at Andrew every so often, just to make sure that he was following her direction. But what amazed the island state even more was that he was able to pick up her style quicker than most mainlanders. It took her years to master the sound of the islands and it took him only a few moments to get the natural hang of it. "'Ike aku, 'ike mai, kokua aku kokua mai; pela iho la ka nohana 'ohana." She said gently as she looked up at Andrew, tilting her head to the side slightly her smile from before growing but only a little bit. That was when she got an idea. "Andrew, keep that going, I want to show you something." She added quickly, not wanting to explain what she had said in her native tongue just yet. She then took her hands off of his guitar before she scooted away so that she would be able to stand up without touching it at all before she fixed her dress and Honolulu, the puka shells that she wore around her neck always, except when she slept, then it was right next to her.

Fixing her hair once more, she then faced him her hands in front as she took in a deep breath. Out on instinct she then began to move her arms from side to side as she moved her hips in a rotating fashion, beginning to dance to the music that Andrew played. Although it wasn't professional quality, she could tell that he was putting a lot of effort into it. Smiling shyly at him as a pink hue appeared on her cheeks she then bent forward, hands together before she slowly arched her back and stood up, her hands over her head before she separated them, staring up at the sky as she continued. She spun around a few times, her hair whipping around her as her dress moved effortlessly, contorting to her body's new shapes and movements, although it stayed flattering the entire time. This time, another crowd began to gather around the two of them as Hawaii continued to dance. Although seeing the people watching her caused her to become more nervous, quickly closing her eyes so she could just imagine that she was at a luau, at home. As the song picked up, so did her movements. Although he didn't know it, Leilani was telling a story through her dancing, as what hula dancing was originally intended to do. She hummed the words to the song softly as she spun around again and again, her hips rolling as she moved her arms and bent them accordingly. Although she wouldn't say it at that exact moment, she was actually having a lot of fun dancing in front of her brother, showing him a bit more of her culture, although so vastly different from his own.

Tennessee only gave his sister a puzzled look when she spoke in her native tongue, but didn't question her nor the request to keep playing as she stood up. His brown eyes followed Leilani curiously as she prepped herself and took a position in front of him that seemed vaguely familiar but he wasn't sure what exactly it meant.

Then Hawaii danced.

Andrew's eyes widened slightly as he watched her body sway and arch to the music he was playing. For a brief moment he could only stare mesmerized while his hands automatically continued the tune he had been working on. Something about it reminded Tennessee of dances he had seen Cherokee, Chickasaw and a few of the other Indian Nations perform, but this was very distinctly Hawaiian. The musician slowly became more accustomed to the way she was moving and followed the emotions portrayed in her face and body not only with his eyes, but with his hands as he continued to strum along like Leilani had taught him.

The state smiled as the melody and Leilani's dancing picked up while he kept pace with her feet. It was hard to tell if the music was guiding her or she was guiding the music anymore. Their blending of song and dance into one great performance certainly had attracted quite the crowd, but none of those people mattered. Hawaii was the only one Andrew paid attention to while he happily participated in something he didn't quite understand, but knew was important to his sister and he was glad to be a part of with her for the moment.
