The Doctor quickly changed the subject. " Oh dear Drean seems to have gotten above us. Shall we follow?" Kat shrugged. " I guess so. But I'm not really much of a climber." The Doctor pointed back at the TARDIS. " We can just use the TARDIS."

When Drean heard the Tardis materializing, he cringed. The sound, coupled with the old family picture that he was looking at, pulled his memory back to the night that he had met the Doctor. Without letting himself become focused on it, he paid more attention to scanning the photograph that he was holding in his organic hand.
It showed a family, all human. Drean was much younger, and accompanied at each shoulder by his parents. He held a strong resemblence to both of them, and the three of them made a perfect image of a family.

" See Katrina much easier." The Doctor and her stepped out of the TARDIS and stood before Drean's home. " Wow Drean this is pretty cool." Katrina commented.

Drean immediately put the photo face-down on the nearby table when he heard them coming in. He reached up to his eye with one hand, but it was dry.
A robot doesn't cry... He thought to himself as he put on a smile and turned around.
Of course it's cool! It's a lighthouse! He was acting flabouyant and overexcited as he waved to the entire room, then bolted up the stairs. Biggest night light, ever! Nothing ever goes wrong... when the light is on! As he rhymed his last statement, he opened a panel in the wall and pulled down on a large lever inside. Above them, a loud whirring sound roared to life. His tone suddenly grew more somber as he walked back down to them, fingering at the face-down photograph. The rest of the time is fair game for disaster...

That's just the fact that these places are built to last. Without anyone living here, it's just... Shut down, I suppose. Like when there's no one in the Tardis. No ships pass by here, anymore, so there's no need for a lighthouse. This place is just left over.

The Doctor looked at it. " That's a shame. It's such a pretty thing." Katrina nodded in agreement.

Drean smiled at Kat's compliment, then moved on and up the stairs, to the next level of the house. Yes, well, at least it hasn't been torn down. like the rest of my life...

Katrina sensed Drean was distressed. She nugged the Doctor, " Should we try to cheer him up? He seems down."

It is good to have you back, Master Drean. An electronic voice sounded from the top of the stairs. Slowly but surely, a rusty old cyberman stepped down the stairs, walking into the room with them.
Drean seemed elated at the sight, his face brightening to a beaming grin. Jeeves! Holy- I'd forgotten all about you! It's no wonder the place looks spotless!
As you requested, I have been maintaining this lighthouse to the best of my abilities. The cyberman had obviously been reprogrammed to act as a butler, albeit a very patient one.

The Doctor thought for a moment. " Well yeah but I don't know if there's much we can do." He reached the top of the stairs and saw the cyberman. " Holy--! Oh It's tame. Sorry I get a bit jumpy."

Doctor, do you remember the cyberman who snuck onto the Tardis the night you saved me? Well, the Tardis matrix and I hacked it, just in case I ever needed to be hacked. Well, this was the result... I sent him as far away as I could. I didn't think that I would come back here again, so I just forgot about him.

After what they did to my family... what they did to me... Drean clenched his fists as his eyes flickered red. He's lucky to be alive. He shook his head, returning to normal. It was the Tardis. She reminded me that I still had my humanity, even if my heart was gone. So, instead of killing him, I made him leave. I sent him as far away as I could before I changed my mind.

" I see." The Doctor examined the cyberman. " Well we can at least use him for information." Katrina felt so bad for Drean. Her heart went out to him. He was so alone in the universe.
