[ To Anaxes ]

Rikka shrugs dismissively. "Does it matter?" she asks rhetorically, adding in as reassuring a tone she can without sounding too false, "It's somewhere we won't be followed, to, at any rate." Which is true enough; Anaxes has been a planet avoided, for the most part, and this will be even more true when it becomes more widely known that a certain few Sith Lords have returned from 'beyond'.

Changing the topic, the Sith Knigh asks in a lazily conversational manner, "But what about you? What have you been doing lately, other than being arrested?"

Corruo

Morbella closed her eyes and clenched her teeth.

"No..."

Sephis gripped harder. With his hand. Behind him, the door to the interrogation room slid open, although Sephis was hardly aware of it. He was so blinded by rage.

"Darth Stryfe, stand down!"

Even the voice sounded far away. Sephis was determined to either kill Morbella or get a straight answer out of her. Either one would satisfy him, at least.

That was it! Morbella had sacrifi--

A blaster shot rang out and struck Sephis in the back of the shin, causing him to cry out in anger, drop to one knee and sweep his lightsaber directly down into the wall. He'd released his grip on Morbella with his hand, but not yet with the Force (although his grip with the Force had loosened considerably).

Sephis tried to turn to face his attacker, and received a blaster shot to the thigh and the ribs in reward. Sephis spun down onto his back from the force of impact and stared up into the dark ceiling. A shadow loomed over him, and Sephis strained his eyes to track and see who was approaching him. The Grand Admiral-- that pompous swine-- crouched down over him with a blaster pistol levied over his face.

"Don't try anything funny, Darth. You won't live to regret it."

The voice still sounded so far away. His vision was going blurry. To be felled by such simple fools as the Grand Admiral... Sephis would make him pay. Sephis would make everybody pay. Sephis would...

Corruo, Interrogation Room

And then Sephis went out like a light. The man could take some stun bolts, the Grand Admiral had to give him that. Three stormtroopers took up positions to fire upon Sephis, should he twitch in the wrong direction, and two more moved in to secure the rest of the small room. By the Empress' black heart, this room was small. And dark.

"Lights."

A soldier behind GA Rice undimmed the lights quickly. If he hadn't just stepped out of a brightly lit hallway, his eyes probably would have been hurt. The first thing he did, however, with light to see by was move over and deactivate Sephis' lightsaber in the wall. Then he tossed it away, flinging it across the wall. He heard it clang against the wall as he turned to face Lieutenant Morbella, a small officer caught up in the middle of a huge mess.

"Lieutenant, are you fit for duty?"

It was nice to hear someone speak your name, especially during a time when she could hardly fathom who she really was. Names were a powerful weapon on the tongues of the dangerous, they could make anything seem all too alluring if spoken right. Nervously she glanced about the floor.

"I..."

The thought of flat out rejecting the offer made place for hesitation. Somehow, the words of the Anzat seemed right, as if a little voice in the back of her head told her it was the right choice to take. She surely wanted it to be.
Strangely, this woman was the one comfort she had at the moment, the only connection she vaguely remembered from her past.

Betrayal. Trust. These words unlocked something in her mind, a voice. It sounded familiar, but she couldn't remember who it belonged too.
'I will save you... I promise...I'll find you...I'll rescue you... I promise...'

But no-one had saved her, no-one had helped her, except for that one woman back on the Corruo. Her and...

She focused herself back to look at Mabysyn and nodded, mostly to reassure herself of her decision.
"I'd like that."

The words felt familiar as they rolled of her tongue. Words that had long ago been spoken when offered an escape from the path of Visum, but she was not familiar with those times any longer. This was all she had, for as far as she knew. She had to make the best of what she got.

Mabysyn smirked with satisfaction at the seemingly confident words of agreement. Already her own thoughts teemed with visions of the future with this girl before her, so ready to consume the energy around her in order to gain her strength. Beneath this bright, blue-eyed child was a Sith like any other.. but Mab did not want any Sith. She wanted all of this girl's noble intentions, her aspirations and her dreams, and she wanted to see them in the light. Would they burn or would they bite?

"It's fitting, in a way." She said as she stood, turning so that the viewport was in sight. The sight of hyperspace was hidden from sight by practical dimming protocols, but her eyes rested there nonetheless. "Anaxes is where I discovered myself. I went there a foolish creature, ignorant to what true power was... tried to kill the Dark Lord of the Sith."

With a twinkle in her eyes, she looked at Irella over her shoulder. "The same Sith Lord you tried to kill."

"Mina," Sam returns and she brings a hand up to cup the other woman's cheek fondly. "I wasn't myself before.. I'm glad you are here."

She does not need to tell Ronyo that bringing Isani to justice for this, for what has been done, is not what she wants. Warren deserves better than a personal vendetta in his name. "You plan to hunt Isani down?" Doing her best not to inflict the slightest hint of emotion, either relief or disappointment, Sam's eyes say the rest. She is in no position to be seeking Isani out. Their brief encounter proved at least one thing to be true: during the past five years Isani had hardened while Sam had softened. She would be no match for the Sith now, and she needed Ronyo with her. There was much to be done and she would need not only his shoulder to lead on, but most likely his eyes and ears as well.

So many things seemed to happen at once in that dark room, and her failing senses deprived Morbella of acknowledging most of it. There was a tightening of Sephis' grip, a surge of her own adrenaline pounding behind her eyes and her ear as her instincts demanded she take some form of defensive action, then the crisp, clear voice of another man barking out orders.

She didn't hear the orders, nor did she see the men, but when the blaster bolts fired they near blinded her sharpened sight. The hot and harsh grip that Sephis had against her throat fell away but, in its place, the Force held her. Choking out a curse only a moment before she fell, too, Morbella landed on her knees. With one hand on her throat and the other keeping her face off the floor, her eyes whipped along the floor to glare at the still form of the Darth. The b*****d was going to kill her, he was really going to kill her, there was no doubt in her mind as she recalled the wild look in his orange eyes. Murderous intent had been barely interrupted by--

"Lieutenant, are you fit for duty?"

The Grand Admiral.

Morbella stood shakily, but refused to brace against the wall. Speaking with a hoarse voice, she nodded. "Always, Sir."
She knew it was a rhetorical question. No senior officer aboard this ship asked if a soldier was fit for duty - they appraised if you were or not with their own eyes and, if they asked, they weren't asking if you wanted them to hold your frelling hand to the med-bay. They wanted to know if you were willing for duty, and the answer the kept the grunts alive was 'Yes, sir' without hesitation.

It didn't matter if her throat was partially crushed, or if the blaster wound in her side stung like a schutta, soldiers in Ensis' Navy didn't stay home with a doctor's note - they served.

Naboo/ Warren's Funeral

Ronyo knew Sam's question was likely one regarding the nature of the kind of "justice" Ronyo spoke of. If it had been someone else the idea of a personal vendetta might have been a possibility but with Ronyo it was part of his duty as a Jedi, and as a friend.

"Her time will come like I said, and it will likely be when the force decides the time is best. Isani has committed a crime against a friend and nature for killing, it is part of my purpose to bring such people to justice. Make no mistake it is not a matter of revenge or a personal crusade, I would not dishonor what you taught me in such a way Master."

It was the first time he had openly referred to her with that title, even though it was hers by right. Until now she had not seemed wanting of the title but likely it was best to begin bringing things back to some semblance of normalcy. With the funeral taken care of their time was now best put towards bringing Sam back to her full strength and bringing her up to date on all current affairs.

"We will need to find a place to stay for the night, and during which I can answer any question you may have Master Joelk. It probably couldn't hurt to meditate on events as well and maybe try and bring some clarity to us all."

Naboo ---> Hyperspace.

Kennero doesn't need to finish Mina's sentence, nor does she, because he knows where it ends. He smiles reassuringly to her as she departs, his dark eyes warmed by the kiss she's left him with. Before her slender figure is farm from the port he turns away and boards the fighter that his astromech has graciously prepped for him.

"Sometimes I wonder if your efficiency is going to make me obsolete one day, R9." He says, and is echoed by a sharp whistle of refusal.

"You're right." The Jedi says, settling into the pilot's seat and leaning back as the hatch seals. "Us organics have made far too much of a mess of this Universe.. you wouldn't want to get your gears dirty cleaning it up."

It was habit, speaking to the astromech on such familiar terms. Too many times R9 had been the only intelligent 'person' for Kennero to have a conversation with as his missions sent him farther and farther from civilized space. Now he was returning to Coruscant again, much sooner than he'd previously anticipated, and he let himself be relieved.

Relieved to be in the market for and illegally modified ship. He repeated for himself as he realized what it was he was relieved for, shaking his head at himself as the fighter lifted up and punched into hyperspace.

Mina smiles, and Sam's touch is somehow warmer than the flames. When the subject of Isani is raised, though, the Knight shies away a little -- she is not ashamed of her decision. Quite the opposite; Mina is proud of the choice she's made. She'll follow Kennero and help him grant Isani the peace of death, and then watch him be the better for it because she knows it's easier to have a dead master than a master who's dead-set on twisting you.

But for some reason -- something that extends beyond simply a sergeant's respect for the Grandmaster who saved her aboard a ghost ship -- Sam's approval is something Mina craves.

"It's Kennero's plan," she says, unsure before her voice becomes more certain. "So that makes it mine, as well."

To Ronyo's words, Mina says nothing but privately disagrees; she isn't sure if there is justice for Isani. The Sith is Sith again because her love had been too great, and she too passionate -- so when she Fell, she fell hard. Of course it didn't help that Isani had been alone in the universe with Mina's Master as her only anchor, and that she already had a dark nature to fall back on... but in the end, Mina thinks it's grief that drives Isani, and that she can understand.

It doesn't mean she forgives the woman for hurting Kennero like she is, however. Not in the least-- it just means she'd rather gift Isani with peace than see her brought to justice, which seems so trite and black-and-white in the face of something of a complexity that transcends hard lines and clear divisions. (And maybe Mina fears if she loses Kennero, she could Fall as hard as Isani has.)

The Grand Admiral

The Lieutenant stood up on both legs, shakily, like she was being held upright by strings. The Grand Admiral scowled. Ready and willing or not, this officer was not fit for duty.

"Sergeant!"

The Grand Admiral barked at one of the soldiers that had bothered to secure the tiny room, as if there was more than 20 feet to secure.

"Get the Lieutenant to the medical bay on the double!"

Then, addressing the rest of the armed unit accompanying him: "Bind and detain the Darth quickly. This needs to be done cleanly and quickly. I'm sure none of you would like to bear the brunt of the Empress' wrath."

They all responded affirmatively to him, and immediately set about their assigned duties, the Sergeant moving over to support the Lieutenant, and the other four grunts moving over to handcuff Sephis and drag him out into the hallway. The Admiral took a moment longer than his soldiers did, and lingered in the interrogation room for a moment, massaging his temples. He was going to get it for this one.

The look of disbelief was hard to miss in the blonde's eyes. Could she have really done that? What could have driven her to do that? She couldn't think of a reason why the Anzat would lie about it, though. Did this mean she once had the power to go up against people of that caliber, or had she simply been as foolish as the Anzat had described herself to be at the time.

She didn't feel much like a murderous person, then again, she wasn't all too sure what she had been like before and he had been a Sith Lord after all. She could think of plenty of reasons why one would want to kill the Dark Lord, but which one did she have?

However, the part that caught her attention the most was the word 'tried', along with her sitting where she was. Sitting and being alive. How did one fail to kill a Sith Lord and live to tell the tale?

"Tried?" She questioned, her voice filled both with wonder and curiosity as it was with slight concern. "W-what happened?"

"You failed." Mab said simply, the faintest trace of faraway memory on her lips as she spoke. "As I did and, also like me, the result of that failure ended in servitude."

The truth came so easily to her and the ghost of a smile brushed over her mouth. Any fool could lie, and any greater fool could be honest, but the real art was in telling a lie with the truth.

Turning to Irella, she coated her word thickly with mental influence. "We are sisters, you and I. Bound to a man who sought to use our gifts as his own.. and now free, shackles broken."
Mabysyn was not one to recite the Sith code like a mantra or a prayer, but in this instance it was strangely poetic.

Naboo.

Wordlessly, Sam absorbs the words that are spoken and turns away, wrapping her arms around herself for warmth. Even on a pleasant Summer evening on the temperate city of Theed, in the face of a now roaring fire, she felt the chill of too many unpleasant memories. She knew what it was to harbor deep feelings for one consumed in the nightmare of the darkside and, more than once, had tortured herself with delusions of saving the ones she loved. It took her many years, and too many lives, to learn that she could not save them -- they had to save themselves.

If Isani could not save herself then whatever judgment Kennero had intent for would pass -- Force be damned. She was too wise and felt too old to believe in fairy tales and hopes that the Force would guide the righteous. The Force guided the darkness, too; it strengthened all things, light and dark, and would be neither judge nor jury.

For a time she watched the flames flicker and consume, barely able to discern Warren's shape amongst them now. Wrapped in a dark, sheer shawl of mourning she lost herself in thought for longer than what was likely appropriate. It felt like she was being looked to again, and, like always, she felt unworthy of it. She took one last look at the disappearing man in the fire and then wrapped the shawl over both her shoulder and her hair, making a make-shift hood.

"There's nothing left to keep us here." She began coldly, perhaps too coldly. After a pause she turned way from the fire and continued, steadfast. "There will be time enough to meditate on our way to Tython."

Morbella took the sergeant's help gratefully, leaning into him as together they shuffled out of the interrogation room. She wouldn't say a word to the GA, but she was glad to be headed to the medical bay. In all honestly, she should have headed there instead of that frelled hangar bay, but she had to see the not-Visum off the Corruo instead.

Stupid.

Barely grumbling a word, she was escorted to the medical bay, as ordered, without any questions. For that, too, she was grateful, but she knew it was only a matter of time. They likely wouldn't ask Sephis alone what she'd been doing in that room alone with him. Sooner rather than later the GA would want to know what was going on.

Thankfully, under the professional medical care of mindless droids, she'd be left in enough peace to think of the answers.

When Sam mentions Tython, Mina decides it is time to speak up. "Kennero and I will be meeting at Coruscant," she informs Grandmaster Ronyo, and Sam as well because she remembers the older Jedi's power and command. "And from there we will set out to find Isani."

Her tone is congenial enough, but firm -- she is not asking for permission, as she should do, but simply telling Grandmaster Ronyo that this is what she will do. She does it for Kennero, because he needs this and she won't take the chance of the Grandmaster refusing to grant them permission because he thinks the Force will deal with the revived Sith Master.
