Thinking wasn't enough to express his sheer shock and anger at what she just said. While it might have been a nice thought, it was just pure lunacy to Calder who felt everything she said right then and there was just wrong. Her gesture to Christof, despite the boy hating him, was not something he passed on, and he rose up from his seat, ears back and tail flicking.

"You are crazy! Who doesn't want to be free from oppression? That..." He pointed to Christof, "....cannot be beneficial in any way. You say what creatures can and cannot do, and FORCE them to do do what you want. Why not put a saddle on him and hand you a whip? Lock him up in a stable while you're at it. Then see what the first thought that comes to mind when anyone passes by? That is being a prisoner. Being turned into livestock isn't fun and happy times for anyone expect the person who gets what they want. You're just to lazy to do your own work so you have other creatures plow the land for you and reap the rewards. I thought you were nice, but you're just mean." He shot his attention to Christof who was probably confused on what was going on. "You should be able to do whatever you want! It's not right!" If Calder had a soap box right now, he would be on it. Not just one, but atop five of them. Then he remembered he wasn't supposed to be shouting and causing a commotion, and slowly sank back down in his seat. He would have pulled his chair away, but he knew that he might get in trouble for that. Ohhhhh! He didn't want to sit next to her anymore.

Frowning, he grabbed his seat and scooted it around so that the back of it was facing Riley and he was looking at Natalia. He couldn't skip class or change seats, but he could at least show he didn't much care for her. Masters. Mistresses. ..........

.....who needed them? .......not him.

Straightening in her seat, Natalia turned to Julian and pulled a smile into existence. "Hello--" the words were as genuine as she could manage, although the underlying truth was there and very evident. Her lips peeled further when he questioned her current standing and suddenly, acting as if one switch had been turned off while another flipped on, the ghoul relinquished her sour attitude and released a light-hearted chuckle. "OH!!~"

"Yes, yes dear everything is fine. I just had a rough night; you know, drinks and all of that wonderful stuff. My eyes, their redness? Due to the booze. I've also been participating in that pet training course and my pathling hasn't been...well cooperating as he should be, so we got into it last night as well." Taking a moment to breath, the werelemur pressed her hands onto the table before lacing them together. It was enough that she had brought Renaissance into her drama, showing up at his place late just the other night...plus, this was not Natalia.

The ghoul was not one to make her troubles known. Not usually, anyway. Leaning over in the boils direction, Natalia whispered. "Just don't say anything too loud. Wouldn't want Ms. Winter's catching wind and reporting me." Then, with a wink, the monster let loose more laughter and scanned the room idly.

There were no words to describe just how angry Riley was at the moment. Her tentacles had twitched their ends, itching to wrap around Calder and pull him back down into his seat. He was making a scene, and it was going to attract the wrong kind of attention for them both. With every word Calder spoke, Riley's vision tinged darker with red. Her eyes sparkled with hatred. It was not his words, themselves, that angered her - it was the fact that he had - purposefully, in her opinion - suddenly begun talking out loud, shouting even, about her impositions on Christof. He made it sound like she had him working day and night - livestock? Plowing the land? How dare he insinuate that she treated Christof this way. How dare he insinuate all of this. The boil was nothing but a mannerless oaf - and even a class such as this one would never be able to change that.

He absolutely sickened her, and it was with no surprise that she placed him quite firmly in her mind as an enemy.

Still, throughout his childish tirade, she said nothing. Why should she? He didn't deserve a response. She held the poise, and grace, of a ghoul far above his ridiculous taunts. When he turned away, she too acted as if he did not exist. Though, as soon as possible, she would attempt to make that a reality.

All of the sudden, Jericho could hear some ranting going on from Riley's direction. Turning around, he saw the Kelpie standing there, spouting off about putting Christof in a stable and being a prisoner when moments ago the guy was practically sobbing on the Mindflayer.

"What the hell was that all about?" he frowned while looking towards Riley who looked as if she wanted to strangle the Kelpie. Shaking his head, he shot a glance back at Shehk.

Today really was going to be one of those days.

Sitting there, minding her own business and having a nice conversation with a pair on undeads, and all of a sudden the room is filled with yelling. Not just nay yelling either, no, It was Calder, again. It was enough to have marid on her feet, palms flat on the table as she looked down the length of the table towards him and Riley. This was getting a little.. well a little ridiculous. Two incidents in as many days, that was not a very good track record.

Of course, not being expressly close to the boil, she didn't feel she had any rights to be trying to reign in his behavior. They were acquaintances, good acquaintances, even team mates, but not quite friends yet.

Then again, unless she was very much mistaken, the tight, twitching curl of Riley's identical were not a good indication of the kelpie's continued good health. Was he daft? "Calder." She hissed down the length of the table, fingernails almost scoring the polished surface. "Are you trying to get yourself expelled? Was it not bad enough that you got yourself banned from water? Are you trying to make enemies in this school?" Swim practice, if it continued, was going to be interesting without a captain.

She wasn't trying to be mean, but she was trying to make him see a little reality. If he kept pissing off students, well liked students, he was going to run out of friends. The worst bit about it all were his actions weren't really dependable.

Calder's ears flicked up and he turned pink, turning around in his seat to find where Yaya was. He hadn't' even realized she was in this class, and he forgot that he had told the swim team that he was out of class because of his punishment. He had HOPED they would have kept it to themselves, but Yaya just went and announced it to the world that he was banned from water. Turning in his seat, he leaned on the table, clearly embarrassed by his new restraints. "Yayaaaa. SSSSSSSShhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. No one knows that yet!" He shot back, but of course, they did now. Thus explained the little misting bottle beside him.

But she was right, in her own way. "I was trying but she started it. You should have heard what she thought." He said, rather immaturely. "I'm being good. I didn't hurt anyone. See." He pointed to the chair he had been sitting in, but it seemed he forgot that being loud and starting things in class was also a big no-no. Maybe Yaya did need to rein him in a bit. Someone did.

To prove the point he was being on his best behavior, he plopped back down in his seat. "See." He called back, again, loudly enough to reach her, and kept up not looking at Riley.

Leaning forward even more, swimming blues narrowed as she pretty much stared him down across the length of the table. Was he really going to try to point the finger at Riley? Yaya had seen Christof get up to leave, had seen what happened after and knew exactly what it meant. Riley had added her mark to the igor, but so what? Demon marks were things that had to be agreed on, by both parties, and Christof knew that going into it.

"I heard everything, and you're out of line." She didn't want to be mad at the kelpie, she didn't want to be mad at anyone, but the boil had actually managed to push her buttons. "Your opinions are you're own, but it is not your pace to push them onto other people, specifically not at the top of your lungs, or in class." Sinking back into her seat, she folded her hands on the table top and continued to watch him. "I think you owe Miss Riley an apology for yelling at her." No, she wasn't kidding.

Clearly Calder had a few behavioral issues, and if no one else was going to go out of their way to see that he didn't get himself into even more trouble, then Yaya was going to have to take that role herself.

The look of shock that came from Yaya telling everyone about his punishment was further increased when she demanded, of all things, that he APPOLOGIZE to RILEY! The ghoul who had been the mean one here. Why was everyone taking HER side in this? He was the good one? She was going around making people their pets. This was so UNFAIR!

But the point was, he was toeing the line, and he was grateful that, for now, the teacher hadn't caught on. However, he couldn't get in trouble. He was suppose to be a model student right now and regain a reputation as being a good, behaved student who could handle an control himself. It….wasn't really working quiet as he had planned.

"Whaaattt?! You want me to apologize to …to…her??" He said, pointing at the ghoul next to him just to make sure. He looked at Riley as if her tentacles had suddenly sprouted flowers and lollipops and looked back at Yaya to see if she was kidding. The firm, narrowing gaze said she wasn't, and he looked around as if someone else could be on his side instead. No one was exactly having his flag at the moment. "But…But she's mean." It wasn't a great defense, but he rarely had one. "I don't want to…" He continued. Again, not the best defense.

Yaya was still staring him down, and Calder sank in his seat, crossing his arms across his chest and fuming. "..I don't want to apologize to her…" he said, muttering to himself.

He tried not to look at Yaya, but her eyes were DRILLING INTO HIS BRAIN from across the room. "….don't want to…"

The blue-eyed ghoul was almost as bad as his mother, and he swore it had to be a ghoul think to stare with that much intensity.

He then glanced at Riley, looked away, and muttered something under his breath.

That icy blue stare never waved from the keplie boy as he protested, argued, then protested some more. Yaya wasn't having any of it though. If anything, his petulant protesting only made her all more frustrated with him and she glared more as a result.

"This is an etiquette class. We do not mumble." Clearly she was loosing her patience with him, which, in and of itself, was sort of remarkable. The marid was known for having one of the most laid back, easy going attitudes within the entire school. He'd be off the hook though, mostly, the second he conjured up the stones to deliver a proper apology to the other demon.
PostPosted: Sat Jan 22, 2011 3:43 pm

One might think that Yaya was helping. In Riley's mind, however, she was making it so much worse. It was surprising to her that Yaya didn't realize what she was doing, and Riley's tentacles cringed inwardly as she slowly began to get madder, and madder, at the spectacle.

Will you please. She seethed out, trying to maintain some sense of decorum. Please. Yaya. I don't want his apology. Her eyes flickered up to the ghoul, a p***k of pain in them. She really -was- getting quite the headache. Can we please just stop airing our dirty laundry publically like this? This is NOT the place to be talking to him about his behavior. Just.. please.. stop.

She didn't want to be mad at Yaya. She truly didn't. It was clear she was holding back significantly, despite already being angry at Calder. She just wanted everyone to drop the subject, immediately.

If you feel like reprimanding him, do it on your own time. Class is not an appropriate time for this conversation. Please? Her tone had a touch of desperation to it. Just a touch.

All of these thoughts were sent to Yaya, and ONLY to Yaya. She finally sent one final thought to Calder, though it sickened her to even speak to him. Just focus on class, and forget this ever happened. You don't need to get in any more trouble.

He didn't need her telling him what he needed or shouldn't do, and Yaya was still angry with him. The fact the Riley even told him to not apologize was enough to now make him want to. What was she doing? Ordering him not to? Hah! He'd show her. " Well I said I was sorry already, so there." He pointed out. Apparently that mumble he had was his apology, but now that she didn't want it, he gave it to her more clearly. He didn't want Yaya angry at him because at least he knew she was nice. Not now, but she was looking out for him just a bit. Of course, eh didn't hear what Riley told the girl already, and went on wit his apology either way.

Settling back in his chair, he decided he was just going to look up at the ceiling and wait for class to begin. Behave. Behave. Behave.Behave. Behave. Behave.Behave. Behave. Be – this is a really weird ceiling. I wonder how far up it goes. I wonder, if you had gnomes stand atop each other's shoulders, how many would it take to get to the ceiling. I bet it would be …like….156. That would it be. Let one hope that Riley's brain had a filter or else she was going to get more of a headache from Calder's ADD.
PostPosted: Sat Jan 22, 2011 4:02 pm

The angry stare she'd been turning on Calder broke immediately as Riley's voice eased through her mind, turning instead to the mindflay, and only now did she notice just how angry the other demon ghoul was. That had not been her aim at all, and proud, haughty features sobered all at once into something a whole lot unsure. One hand raising as if to press fingers to her lips, but she caught the action and schooled it before it could be finished. Folding her hands in her lap, turning her gaze to the table top.

I'm sorry Riley, I was just trying to help. But you're right. She aimed that thought to the other demon, though softly.

Calder's apology, when he spoke it again, seemed very insincere. She was going to have to seek him out after class and have a talk with him. Not for Riley, but for his own good. He was going to get himself hurt if he didn't start thinking before speaking and acting.

At the Kelpie's sudden outburst, the hunchback had gone red as a patchwork tomato, eyes widened as he slumped down deeper into his chair. What... what on earth was he TALKING about?? And what had Riley said to him, exactly? Trembling a little, he shifted in his seat, the tremble and fidget back in his hands. Calder didn't know what he was talking about and was probably disturbed. More than likely. Maybe he could talk Malodore into giving the boil a brain transplant. The command from his Mistress had been enough reassurance that he was doing the Right Thing, he wasn't as anxious. He just had to sit quietly until class began and get it over with and move on. She was right. But Calder's speech made his stomach clench, and his mind churn- plow the fields and reap the rewards? He struggled with the image for a few moments before he realized the Kelpi had been making an analogy.

Ah. Well... wasn't that the point to Igors? Bred and created to be servants. Even as Calder quieted down after his speech on Kelpi perspective, Christof was still staring at him incredulously. Finally, he timidly reached to pull his homework out of the pile and push it towards the seemingly gloomy and deflated horse-boil.

Riley did have a natural filter, though it wasn't on purpose. She could only hear thoughts that were directed quite specifically at her - though, even if this weakness wasn't in place, she would still be able to tune out Calder's annoying ramble easily. She pointedly ignored him in every respect, and nodded her head gently to Yaya.

I know. Thank you. She said no further, because the more people attempted to talk into her mind, the worse off her headache got. Too many people were touching her today. She wished the class was over - and it hadn't even begun yet.

She rested her forehead on the table and tried, very hard, to look as though she did not want to discuss anything further with anyone, ever.

The young demon wasn't entirely sure about how he felt about being called "dear" by a fellow student. Usually he just got that from his mother or grandmother. Regardless, he made something of a face when Natalia mentioned drinking. His eldest brother was really the only one in the family who enjoyed the stuff. He'd never even tried a hard drink. To be perfectly honest, he'd prefer water when it all came down to it.

"Ah... I know what it's like having a troublesome mini, though he's more of a neat-freak," Julian replied with a small chuckle, rubbing the back of his head with one hand. He also knew what worse ones were like by watching Sin's unmentionables gallivant about, stealing people's underwear.

He gave her a reassuring nod.
"I won't say anything."

He glanced around the ghoul when things started to heat up on the other side of her. Something about servitude and being free and such. Calder had gotten banned from water? Wasn't he a kelpie? What had he done?
Curious or not, Julian wasn't one to ask and it seemed to have calmed down by now.
