Haikyo was glad for Juugou putting his hand on his shoulder when he had, because the boy was ready to blow, and it helped him calm down slightly and not bust the damn woman's door down and throttle her for her ignorance. But then, Juugou also told him that people usually looked at them as mere errand boys to do their dirty work, at this stage in their ninja careers. This also made Haikyo slightly upset, but he couldn't worry about that for now. He was no errand boy. He was a member of the Yomi family. He carried generations of honorable warriors and ritualists pride on his back, and he refused to just be some...nobody. But...everyone was a nobody at some point.

There was so much to learn from being here. So much to see and experience. So much to plan and to achieve. He would prosper as a ninja, and he would strive to gain the level in which he would be able to go back to his home and visit his family. Then, at that time, he could start planning his future--live to serve his new country, and rise in the ranks of this shinobi world. Become a high ranking ninja--perhaps someone who worked with the leader of the village. Or, he would return to his homeland, and he would reclaim it. He would force the evil from within the country out--the gangs, the thugs, the corruption...he would create a home, instead of some old, glorified slum. He closed his eyes and he let himself feel the satisfaction at that thought...but at the same time, who knew how long those things would take, and by then he might have developed a closer bond to the Village of the Leaf than he expected to. He knew, as well, that a ninja who tried to abandon their village was often hunted down and slain. This could also become quite the problem. Though, he would deal with that when the time came.

Either way, Juugou congratulated Haikyo for piecing together the puzzle about the missions, and Haikyo nodded to him, holding an air of 'of course, I totally knew that' even though it had been more of a lucky, slightly educated guess. So. They were currently at the level of D Rank. If they were to proceed to the next rank of mission, they were reserved for the next level of shinobi. A...Chuunin? But, if they were to complete a fair few of these errands...then they could do the next level of mission without technically advancing as a shinobi. It seemed relatively straight forward, though the Yomi did not realise that there were so many tiers and statuses within the ninja world.

When he and Juugou spoke about the mission at hand, Juugou immediately send his bugs out once more, splitting them up into multiple clouds of the insects that swarmed off in multiple different directions. when Haikyo heard that they did not have the authority to force them to do anything, it made sense. They were errand boys, on the same status level as the people they were looking for. How could they force them to do anything. Unless...by force! He smirked to himself, but he knew that was not the way to fix an issue--it would merely cause more resentment, eventually leading to more problems, of a much more severe nature. He heard Juugou call him Dog Whisperer again and he placed a hand on his forehead. He wished he had realised how silly he might have looked to other people before he had done what he had done, but, unfortunately, Haikyo was not the brightest fellow all the time.

As Juugou took off, Haikyo followed, not sure where the man was headed. Haikyo once again made his way up to high ground, running up the side of a building, using his chakra on his feet to stick him to the wall easily as he ran and when he reached high ground, he peered around, looking as much as he could for any signs of the perpetrators. He would have thought finding some hoodlums with paint would be quite easy to do, but it so happened that they were pretty good at hiding themselves. There actually didn't seem to be much trouble going on within the city limits at all at this point--not that Haikyo could see at least. Things seemed eerily quiet. He just tried his best to figure out where to start looking. He didn't know who to ask...and if he tried to go to a dog, to smell out the scent of paint, he feared that this 'Dog Whisperer' thing would continue tenfold. Instead, he raced behind Juugou, allowing the Aburame to flex his skills and seek out the culprits.

Juugou got a bite on traces of graffiti on the backs of a storefront, and they made their way that direction, Haikyo, once again, allowing Juugou to take the lead, so he could follow and learn the areas. Then, as they reached the area that had been caught by the insects, they ended up stumbling into something a little more than just regular graffiti. It was a beautiful painting on the back of the store-front of a woman, a daisy in her hand, holding it close to her nose, a serene expression on her face. Sure, nobody had asked for this to be put there, and that might upset some folks...but at the same time, Haikyo was impressed. "I suppose this is where the trail begins?"

Search the Apothecary for Clues!

...Rank: D (Medium)
Description: There's been a murder in the Konohagakue Apothecary! Search for clues, and find a trail to the assailant!

The monk shrugged, nodded, and ducked out of the room. Simply, he said, "I'll check the grounds." Hajime quickly strode to the door and stepped out into the cool air of the street. He looked left. He looked right. Everything on the street seemed fairly normal.

He gazed at the opposite rooftops, and saw no one running or spying out there. Hajime looked to his feet, and found a clue. Small dots of blood speckled the sidewalk. Had he not known their origin, he would have expected that someone had a bad cut or a sudden nosebleed- not a bloody blade that'd just been used to decapitate someone. Hajime kneeled down, and ran his finger along the dark, red splotches, "Dry."

Hajime looked left. Hajime looked right. He spotted more splotches. The blade had still been dripping when the assailant left. He stood up tall and quickly traced the steps of the murderer. He stopped about ten steps into the trail- and looked down the alleyway beside the apothecary and the building beside it. The trail continued that way. It was dark down this way- unlit by the setting sun nor the streetlights of the city street.

There was unspoken grime on the cobblestone floor, and trash littered about. At the far end of the alleyway was another door back into the apothecary, followed by a wooden fence about eight feet high. Beyond the wall, Hajime could see the streetlights of the next street beyond. The monk quickly walked down the alleyway, eyes wide open- trying to see in the darkness. He stopped at the door and gave the knob a wiggle. It was unlocked. Curious. He pushed the door open and saw what appeared to be a storage room of some sort. He shouted into the building to alert his companions, "I found a backdoor here." He then closed the door behind him.

Hajime continued down to the wooden wall. He ran his hand along its side, careful not to pick up a sliver. There didn't appear to be a loose board or anything like that- it would be save to climb. Hajime stared at the dark wall for a moment, and realized something. I don't need to climb this as I would have as a child, do I? He'd heard of ninja climbing trees and walls. With the chakra training he'd done already, this should be simple.

Hajime put his foot to the wood, and concentrated on the sole. He gently kicked at the wooden fence a few times, testing the weight and density of the surface, then finally- his foot took hold. He heaved himself up on the spot- as if there had been a foothold there, and carefully laid his foot on the next spot. With greater speed, he moved the first foot up- then again with the second foot. With another footstep, he climbed to the top of the fence, and crouched low, eyeing the other side of the alleyway. There was an alley behind the apothecary- between it and the building to it's backside. That alley was just as grimy.

Hajime jumped down and strode down the dark alley onto the next street. He squinted and looked for blood, but saw no leads. He took a deep breath, then dived back into the darkness of the alley, this time slipping around the corner into the back alley. He crouched down, looking for spots of dried blood, but saw none. The trail was cold.

The monk saw two options for him now- and he decided to follow the quicker one first. He looped back around to the other side of the building, and analyzed that passway. He pulled the lids from trashcans, looking for clues, and looked for additional exits from the building. There wasn't anything of particular value in this alleyway, save for a rain gutter that could be used for support if someone where climbing to the rooftop. He reached out, and gave the gutter a shake- it was secure. With his newly discovered skill- he could climb to the rooftop without effort.

Hajime pressed his foot to the stone of the wall, and felt his foot stick to it like tape. He quickly walked up the next few steps, then his walk turned into an antsy climb. In just a moment, he hopped up onto the flat roof of the medical center. He made to walk across, but stopped. The ceiling was specked with dirt and dust, and he actually saw footprints in the fine coating. Someone had been on the rooftop recently.

He ran his hand along the silt, and tried to take account for how heavy it was. It was a bit tacky- but left a good solid path where his hand had been. He clapped his hands together, and did a swift jump over to the footprints. Hajime stared at the prints, and ran his hand along his smooth, hairless chin. The prints seemed wider than the average humans, and were a bit misshaped. The assailant had been waiting in this position for a while, and his feet had shifted and fidgeted under him.

He tried to imagine what the assailant saw, and gazed across rooftop. There was a vent opening there. Hajime crawled over to the vent. Two of the screws had been removed- the vent was barely hanging on the edge of the hole that lead to the airway ducts. Hajime shifted the vent aside and looked inside. It was a tough fit- but not an impossible one for a lean person like himself.

Curious. Hajime would have tried to follow the assailant's path, but decided against it- his robes were too free-flowing for that- he'd get stuck on any manner of screw-head or loose seam. The monk closed his eyes, and memorized all he saw. He quickly walked to the front edge of the building and dropped down, then entered the Apothecary to reunite with his team.

Hajime reported his findings, "There's a ventilation system above our heads that leads to the rooftop, where I found a pair of footprints. I think that the assailant waited until a certain time to invade the building- perhaps when the pharmacist was out for lunch. It seems that he may have used the side exit to escape- then walked along the front of the apothecary- to the left as we leave the building."

In a situation like this it was better to get moving than to sit around and wait, and Juugou would rather contain the people doing the graffiti before there was more damage done. He glanced behind him just in time to see Haikyo bound up to the rooftops again. That was a great idea on his part because it would be easier to spot something major from that height. Juugou decided to stick to the streets. He already had his insects patrolling from above so it would be useful to have someone on the ground. He also didn't have the stamina to keep vaulting over the gaps between the buildings continuously. Looking around, the younger Genin didn't see anyone suspicious, and the bits of graffiti that he saw already on the walls were old and fading.

Where could they be? he wondered. The mission wasn't too specific when it came down to the details, which annoyed the young Aburame slightly. I think i'll be the one to pick out missions from now on until Haikyo gets better acquainted with the kiosks... The return of two of his insect squads brought him out of his thoughts. The insects relayed images mentally. One of a woman holding a daisy to her nose, the other of a boy cradling a camellia. Both quite beautiful despite being unwanted. Juugou focused on the first mural withe the woman and told his insects to lead him there. Luckily it wasn't too far, only a few blocks north and a block to the west. When he arrived at the location he gasped. The mural took up the entire storefront of a general goods store, but at the same time it was truly remarkable. Such talent was truly rare in the world. It was a shame that the people doing this had to be stopped. Haikyo jumped down, asking if this was where the trail began. "I am pretty sure it is because i've never seen anything like this anywhere in the village. And my insects tell me there's at least another one elsewhere." answered Juugou, wracking his brain on how to proceed. Then a thought came to mind. "Let's question the shopkeeper and see what he says." he walked into the store and went straight for the counter. A middle-aged man turned to look at him.

"May i help you?" he asked in a tired tone. Juugou took a deep breath, then looked the man in the eyes.
"Good afternoon, sir. We've been sent to deal with the people behind the murals. Would you be able to provide any information about their appearance or motives?" The shopkeeper seemed to grow older and deflate, opening and closing his mouth a few time before answering.
"That.... would have to be my grandson Nagreboshi and his friends." he sighed, combing his fingers through his graying blue hair. "My shop has been having some hardships, mainly vandals who come through periodically and smash up the storefront. Nagreboshi took it upon himself to paint that mural in the hopes that it would attract customers and it worked. Everyone that comes in says nice things about the mural, and it's even become a sort of tourist attraction. However....." The man trailed off, clearing his throat. "Nagreboshi took his ambition too far and has started tagging places where the vandals have struck without the consent of the owners of those properties." Juugou nodded slowly analyzing every detail before asking one last question.
"Do you know where he's going next?"
"Yes" replied the old man with a grave expression, "the Faces of the Hokage.."

* * *

"These guys must be on drugs!" shouted the younger Genin as he ran as fast as his legs could take him. The faces of the past and current Hokage were a landmark. Sure, they've been defaced countless times in the past, mostly by academy students seeking thrills. Even by the Seventh in his youth. But these were Genin they were talking about. They were supposed to know better at this point. If the old shopkeeper was telling the truth, this went way off from his grandson's mode of operations. "Haikyo once we get to the monument i'm going to need you to run up the cliff side and stop whatever it is they're doing." said Juugou, turning to his team mate. "I'll send my insects as support while i try to reason with the ringleader. And please be careful up there. If you fall there won't be anything to break your fall aside from the ground itself." As he spoke, several lines of insects were converging in the air several feet above the two genin. When he cleared the last buildings and looked up he saw a single scaffold slowly making it's way up the cliff side. Three people could be made out, two operating the ropes and the third gazing up at the fave of the Sixth Hokage, which was directly above them. Without wasting more time he sent his swarm of insects up at the pulley. The three genin were taken by surprise, flailing their arms to try to disperse the swarm but to no avail. At least he had halted their ascent. "Nagreboshi!!! Stop what you're doing and come down!" shouted the young Aburame, hoping his voice would reach the ringleader above.

This situation was getting mighty strange quicker by the minute. One second they were digging up evidence on a robbery, which led them towards a murder. Maybe this was coincidence, but Kaito felt like this was not. Stranger and stranger, every time they traveled to a new location for their mission things just got more weird. Oddly enough though, his second wind was coming on strong. Even with a disgusting, rotting corpse just a room over from him. The smell was becoming sickening at this point though, thus covering his nose with his shirt. What a time for an epiphany though, this mans rotting dead body had given him a couple of ideas. He'd save those weird thoughts, for a later, less weird time.

The monk went off to do his own thing, Sai was doing his as well. Kaito figured he'd might as well use his time the best he could. Sai was digging through the deck of cards, which looked suspicious to say the least. Was he playing cards with a friend just prior to being murdered? Maybe whomever he was playing with was the one that cleaved his head off. Whomever it was, they were skilled with a blade. Looked like one clean swoop and then heads were rolling. The eerie part was how clean of a swing this was. Obviously whomever had murdered this fella was good at his craft, which meant chances were this wasn't the assailants first time chopping heads off. Which wasn't exactly a reassuring thought...

Sai had decided to spear head this murder mystery and delegate everyone a job, sort of at least. Kind was like 'do one of these two jobs, I'm kind of a d**k head blah blah blah. It was pretty similar to those words at least. Kaito wasn't one to argue as long as his head was staying attached to the rest of his scrawny body. While the monk had temporarily left the building to search the premise, Kaito was inside digging through several herbs, potions, and other random miscellaneous items. The real problem being Kaito hadn't really any idea what he was looking out for in this place. Everything was so strange and just looked foreign to him, it was near impossible for the boy to decide what was normal for an apothecary shop and what wasn't. The shop was pretty cluttered up as well, things laid all across the room and stuff inside the cabinets looked a lot like a train wreck.

Working his way through the shop, Kaito would finally stumble across something that might actually be worth looking into. A black cabinet made of metal , larger than the rest was tipped over on it's side. In pieces, next to the downed cabinet laid a smashed up lock. Obviously at one point or another this lock was probably hiding some goodies within, which more than likely could have been the motive for chopping the headless chum's head off. While the cabinet was empty, this was at least some sort of evidence that someone wanted something from this place that was obviously valuable enough to be locked up. "H'mm... What would an apothecary need to keep locked up in his shop?" Kaito muttered words to himself, before getting back up and headed towards where Sai was. "You find anything?" The boy asked just as Hajime made his entrance mentioning his findings. "Well sounds like we have an entry point and an exit point. I didn't find much on my end, but there's a locker over there a little beat up. Had a lock on it which was chopped up worse than that guy was... Had to have been something worthwhile in there, right?" The boy couldn't help but be curious. What item was worth taking someones life? Could have been a pretty decent lump of ryo or something, but why use something so big to store ryo in? Kaito was vexed, and maybe's Sai's findings would make sense of the situation.

Haikyo nodded when Juugou stated that he would stay on the streets while Haikyo took the higher ground to search for the genin in question. It didn't take all that much time before they had somewhere to begin, however, considering Juugou's bugs were pretty damn good at relaying information back to their master. It was remarkable, really. Juugou had...thousands of eyes at his disposal. With the Aburame clan's ability, one could effectively create a security net over an entire battlefield or village, even. The applications of it seemed insane. He wondered if his own family's abilities would ever compare to such a wide-known, influential clan like the Aburame. He felt the motivation and pride swell inside his chest as he concreted his own resolve. He would make the Yomi clan known. He would make it powerful. He would make it one of the clans that people looked up to, like the Hyuuga or the Uchiha.

When Juugou and Haikyo arrived on the scene of the first mural, Haikyo was extremely impressed by the work, and when Juugou answered his question, he stated that he had never seen anything like it in the village. He and Juugou both, however, seemed a little stumped at where to go from there. At this point, Juugou suggested the shop keeper and Haikyo nodded. It would make sense that the shopkeeper would know what was going on, considering it was his shop that got vandalised. A good place to start, no matter how you looked at it. When Juugou began to speak with the man he seemed upbeat and pleasant, as any shopkeeper should. But, when asked about the graffiti, the man seemed to fold over onto himself in exhaustion. They discovered that it was actually the man's grandson who had been doing it. Nagreboshi and his friends, it would seem, began their little journey to benefit the shopkeeper. They created murals on the shop to bring business in, and people seemed to like it. But, they began to cover up old graffiti in places that it was not requested...that was where they slipped down the wrong path. Now, it would seem that they were headed for the village's most important monument. It had been defaced before, sure, as a prank here or there...but these kids had seemed like they were trying to do something good before...why now create this...REAL art...in such a place? It would become nothing more than a crime, and it would ruin everything they stood for.

Troubled Youth

...Rank: D - Hard
Description: The young genin who were found to be tagging their art across various shops and buildings don't seem to be following their regular motives. Investigate the trio at the kage monument and find out what's going on with Nagreboshi.

Haikyo listened to Juugou as they ran toward the massive mountainside the village was backed against, and when they got there the scaffolding was very clear, and the silhouettes of three people could be seen at the top of it. "No problem. I will do the leg-work. You did the recon, it's only fair." He said with a grin. When they cleared the last buildings, Juugou sent his mass of insects flying upwards toward the scaffolding and the pulley system. The bugs swarmed around the genin, distracting them enough to stop them from raising the platform any higher. They were not going to succeed in this mission of theirs. Haikyo ran past Juugou, giving the young boy a thumbs up as he passed, hitting the wall in front of him at a sprint, and going from horizontal to vertical seamlessly. Running up the mountainside felt like a breeze. Already, just having managed to run through the village and get his body moving and working harder for the first time in a long time, felt like he was improving upon his own physical strength and stamina many times over than he had been doing previously.

As he ran, the boys on the scaffolding got closer very quickly, especially now that they were not trying to go any higher, having been distracted by Juugou's bombardment on their little rig. When he hit the platform, the boys stopped swatting at the insects and they immediately took a defensive position on the other side of the makeshift lift. Nagreboshi was in the middle of the other two boys, and he seemed exponentially less afraid then the others. the boy folded his arms across his chest and he looked at Haikyo with an annoyed expression. "What do you want, loser? We're busy here, if you can't tell." The other boys seemed concerned, but they said nothing. "Nagreboshi...you began this journey of yours to improve your grandfather's business, and to turn something ugly into something beautiful. You proceeded to do so, trying to do good by covering the old and the pointless graffiti with real art...now...now you are going to deface your village's monument to their past leaders...for what?" The young boy seemed more than frustrated by the older teen talking down to him and he spat at Haikyo's feet. "Because I can. Because me and my grandfather are going to make this village great again!"

Haikyo sighed as he looked at the boy, shaking his head. "Your grandfather is horribly upset that you are doing such a thing. You benefit nobody through these actions. Least of all, yourself and your grandfather. The boy who created that mural would not do something like this. So...I ask you this very seriously. Who are you?" "W...what are you talking about I am Nagre--" Haikyo flashed forward and planted a palm strike directly into Nagreboshi's chest, filling the strike with soul energy to link the spirits as he had done with the dog earlier. An old man's voice could be heard within the boy. "What are you doing to me!? What the hell have you done, you young punk!" Haikyo immediately severed the link from Nagreboshi and he narrowed his eyes. "You didn't answer my question."

Nagreboshi seemed stunned as he stood there and he narrowed his eyes. "I told you, my name is Nagreboshi, the grandson of that stupid geezer in the antique shop." Haikyo sighed as he grabbed the boy from the scruff of his neck and he jumped over the edge of the platform, causing him to scream in terror, and for his friends to lunge forward to the edge and call out for him. However, Haikyo's feet hit the edge of the mountain and he ran with the momentum, slowing himself down slowly. However, as he stood, his feet anchored to the mountain, his body horizontal against the vertical wall, he held Nagreboshi, dangling him from his outstretched arms, leaving the boy nowhere to go if he were to fall, except very...very far down. Juugou had given him that piece of information and it had triggered this thought. "Who are you, imposter?" The child snarled as he dangled from the back of his clothing that Haikyo was gripping. "What the hell is wrong with you, man!? I'm Nagreboshi, god damnit! I told you that! Besides, you can't drop me. You'd be arrested and put to death in no time!" Haikyo narrowed his eyes as he looked down at the boy. "I know you're a fraud, boy. And, since I know that...dropping you is the least of my worries." "Bullshi--" The word was followed by a scream as Haikyo let the boy go. He began falling, but as he fell, Haikyo ran down the wall faster than the boy's falling speed and he caught hima few dozen feet down from where he had let go. "Try that again." The boy was shaking and almost in tears. "Y--you're ******** nuts! I'm not dying for this s**t. Fine. You got me, okay!? My name is Hanoko. I run a shop across from the kid's grandfather's shop. When the kid started this mural crap, it brought so much business to his grandfather's store that...well...I lost a lot of my own. I thought if I disguised myself as his grandson...I might be able to recover some of my lost business, okay? If people looked at the art as a bad thing, they would come back."

With that, the boy erupted into a smoke blast, revealing the old man dangling from Haikyo's fingers instead, and Haikyo immediately pulled the man up into a more comfortable hold, keeping him close to his own body so that there was no chance of the elderly man falling, while they made their way back to the ground. When he got there, he grinned at Juugou. "Well. This fellow here was impersonating Nagreboshi to smear his name, so that the art work would no longer draw business away from him...the last bit we would need to go about is finding out where the hell the real Nagreboshi is. His friends up there seem legit, though, they probably just went along with it because Nagreboshi was the leader."

Juugou watched his partner dash off towards the mountain and then, almost seamlessly, reorient himself vertically to run up the mountainside. The younger Genin was impressed at how quickly Haikyo was getting used to his ninja capabilities. The older teen had already closed half the distance between the ground and the stopped scaffold so Juugou disengaged his insects to give him a safer landing. Moments later the Yomi had reached the three genin and boarded the scaffold, but Juugou could barely see what was going on. There was a brief scuffle between Haikyo and who the young Aburame assumed to be Nagreboshi. Then his heart sank when he watched his team mate drag the ringleader off the scaffold and dangle him from several hundred feet off the ground.

What is he THINKING?! thought Juugou, eyes widening in disbelief. Is he trying to interrogate the other two by threatening the life of their leader?! He began to run towards the wall hoping Nagreboshi didn't slip out of Haikyo's fingers. And then it happened. The young Aburame's brain ground to a halt, hands tugging at his hair. The deviant Genin's scream took a few seconds to reach him from that altitude, but stopped abruptly after Haikyo managed to catch him by some miracle. Juugou dropped to his knees, letting out the breath he had been holding in for what felt like an eternity. It took some time for Haikyo to return to the ground, but when he did, he returned grinning with some old man in tow instead of a child. "What's wrong with you, Haikyo?! You almost gave me a heart attack when you dropped Nagreboshi like that! And who's this?!" The answers came in short order, even if lacking in detail. It would seem as if the old man, who had wet himself during the fall, had been impersonating Nagreboshi. As the explanation went on Juugou pieced together the mystery, pinning the old man as a rival business owner. The last bit worried him, and a great deal of disdain welled up inside him for the sorry excuse of a geezer. The young Aburame got to his feet, dusted off his pants, and looked the old man in the eye. "Listen old man. You've racked up a really tall order for yourself: Conspiracy, kidnapping, identity theft and defamation of character. If we decide to take you in to the authorities right now you're looking to spend the rest of your life rotting behind bars, however before we do you will tell us where the kid whose identity you assumed is. And he better be healthy when we find him." The scrawny old man tried to make himself bigger by puffing out his chest.
"And what if i don't?" Juugou narrowed his eyes and smiled, calling down his insects from above so that they flew in a spiral around them.
"Let's just say you'll have plenty of unwanted visitors crawling under your skin. I hear it's a terribly uncomfortable experience." Hanoko balked at the thought and deflated.
"The boy is... tied up in a storage shed nearby." With Haikyo keeping hold of the old man in case he tried to escape, the two Genin followed his lead away from the Hokage Rock and back towards a group of smaller buildings. When they arrived Hanoko produced a key from inside his shirt and unlocked the door. Inside an unconscious and bound Nagreboshi lay slumped against an overturned barrel.

Minutes later several Jounin had arrived and apprehended Hanoko, while Nagreboshi's grandfather and team mates sat around the Genin on a bunch of boxes on the side of a nearby building. Juugou stood beside Haikyo, arms folded over his chest, watching their interactions.
"You know," he began in a soft tone, "I froze out there." The words left a sour taste in the young Abuame's mouth, but they needed to be said. "When you dropped Hanoko i didn't know how to react. It was as if my brain flat lined and i couldn't see anything else but the falling body. I need focus in order to communicate with my insects effectively and that connection was gone..." Juugou gritted his teeth and tightened the hold on his arms, feeling his throat tighten and tears begin to well in his eyes. "If you hadn't been able to catch him, i don't think i would've been able to do anything to save him. And that thought is eating me up inside, Haikyo." That's when the tears began to fall. "It's my dream to be a field medic, but i froze in a situation where i was the only one who could have made the difference between life and death!" he sighed, calming himself down slightly before asking, "How is it that you are able to block out such images that easily?"

When Haikyo had made it down from the lift they had made, with the old man in tow, Juugou seemed to be losing it a little. He asked about what was wrong with Haikyo--how the older boy had nearly given him a heart attack. However, when he began to explain everything, and the old man shrank behind him while he did, the look of guilt already riddled across his face--not to mention the shame from urinating all over himself from fear of the fall...Haikyo couldn't really blame him for that one. He probably would have lost his bladder in the same situation, if he was near sixty years old. Haikyo knew whatever the old man had done was wrong, but Juugou was actually able to list off most of the crimes that the man had committed and Haikyo's eyes widened as he looked at the boy. However, when the old man tried to inflate himself once again, saying he wouldn't tell them anything, Juugou made a threat with his insects, one that...well...for lack of better words, made Haikyo's skin crawl.

The man didn't put up much of a fight after that--he had already been dropped off a damn mountain, who knew if these kids would fill his body with bugs too. God, Genin had become little assholes these days. He and Juugou stood back, though, as the Jounin went about their jobs of apprehending the old man and making sure that the boy was alright. His grandfather was in tears about how he hadn't doubted that it was Nagreboshi, and he should have known, and that he was so happy that the boy was safe. When Juugou actually piped up to speak, his voice was soft, and sad. Haikyo immediately turned all of his attention to the boy, listening to him speak of how he had frozen. That when he dropped the old man, he didn't know how to react. He admitted that, he would not have been able to save the old man's life if it had come down to that, and that thought was killing him inside. He asked him how he was able to block those images out, and Haikyo scratched his chin.

"I don't." He said simply. "They don't even exist to me, really. There is no failure. To the Yomi, every action is assured. Every outcome has deeper meaning that echos into eternity, etched into the soul. Everything you strive to do, as long as you believe it to be, will be. When I dropped that old man, there was no chance in my mind that I would not have caught him. You must believe in yourself, Juugou. You're already a talented young man. I'm a few years older than you, which means by the time you're my age, you're going to be a genius." He stated, clapping the boy on the back. "But, Juugou. What you must realize is that you were not the only one to be the difference between life and death. Where you may falter, I will pick up your slack. And where I have my shortcomings, I feel you will be there to fill those gaps as well. We may be strangers, but we are connected. Call it fate. Call it two souls meant to stumble into each other. Call it coincidence, if you will. Either way, we are here, and no longer alone." Haikyo stated, grabbing the young boy by the shoulders and pulling him into a strong embrace. "Juugou...I'm going to help shape you into a ninja even the Yomi clan would be proud of." He said, releasing the hug and stepping back from Juugou with a grin as he looked at the younger boy. "Just as you are helping me to become a Yomi that my family can be proud of. Now, wipe the tears, and lets take a bit of a break to relax, yeah?" He said with a smile.

They had to turn in their mission, at the very least, so he made his way back toward the mission office, giving the whole spiel to them. Sure, it hadn't been an officially requested mission, but at the end of the day, they recognized that the two boys had, indeed, ended up catching an old man in quite a few different nefarious charges, and they deserved a little compensation for it. They gave them the same reward they would have given someone for a difficult genin's mission, and called it a day, and Haikyo nodded curtly to Juugou as they stepped out of the office. "Well, Juugou. What's next? I wouldn't mind grabbing something to eat, considering this is the most money I have ever seen, and I haven't even been working for a full day yet." He said with a laugh as he looked at the pouch of ryo he had accumulated from the few missions they did, and the additional pay the office had given them for their own progress. It was a damn fine day.

Juugou listened to Haikyo's words as the older teen spoke. They carried the same confidence that their owner exuded naturally. There was a warmth to them. An understanding that somehow felt like it went beyond mere understanding. Haikyo spoke of when he had dropped Hanoko, and of how he didn't doubt that he'd catch the man. The Yomi again drove home that Juugou needed to believe in himself, but this time the young Aburame perceived the message differently. There was a deeper meaning behind it now, and Juugou started seeing connections between the small things Haikyo had said earlier to what he was saying now. Juugou blushed a little when his team mate said he was really talented and would be a genius by the time he was eighteen. There it was again, that unwavering faith. No 'probably', no 'maybe'. He simply believed it would come to pass in the years to come. This made fresh tears rise, blurring Juugou's vision anew, but the pat Haikyo gave him on the back sent them streaming down his face.

The older Genin continued urging the young Aburame to understand that even though he felt that he was the only one that could've made a difference in the old man's fate, it wasn't so. Haikyo explained their relationship to be a mutually supplemental one, where each would cover for the other when it was needed. This caused an image of the yin yang symbol to appear in Juugou's mind, and it seemed pretty appropriate. The last bit that Haikyo spoke on about them being fated to meet ha a moving, yet therapeutic effect on Juugou. When he got pulled into the hug, the younger Genin felt as if a huge weight had been lifted off his shoulders. He also felt a new closeness, a bond that would never break begin to form. The young Aburame could feel the Yomi's steady heartbeat, slow and strong. Being in such close proximity he couldn't help but notice how warm the older teen was. Whether it was his natural boy temperature or from the recent physical activity, Juugou wasn't sure, but he found himself to be enjoying it. After Haikyo promised to help him become a ninja that even the Yomi, a clan hailing from Samurai ancestry, would be proud of he released the embrace and stepped back with a grin on his face.
"Alright." answered Juugou, wiping his face with his right hand. "We can definitely use a break." Haikyo led the way back to the mission office, and took care of all the debriefing while the younger Genin sat on a nearby chair collecting himself. When they were done they stepped back outside and Haikyo asked what was next, stating that he wouldn't mind grabbing a bite of food. "What do you like to eat? We have a wide variety of cuisines from around the world here in the Leaf, but we're better known for our ramen. Ichiraku is the go-to spot for a bowl at a decent price."

He couldn't help but feel pride in himself while he spoke with Juugou. He felt as though, for the first time in his life, he was growing up. He felt like he was his father, giving a lecture to his own, younger, self. However, it was not so. He saw the younger boy more like a little brother. It had been complete chance that they had met, if one did not believe in the strings of fate. But, he believed that they had been steered together for a reason. They were very different people--and opposites attracted for a reason. Because they filled the gaps of their counterpart. If you were opposite to someone, it meant you could do all the things they could not, and they could do the things you could not. It was going to work. This team of theirs would become legend. When he embraced the younger boy, he could feel his soul calm. He could feel the resonation between their energies, fluxing in those brief moments. He was feeling better--Haikyo could feel it too. The older boy, though he was very stoic in nature most of the time, was an extremely empathetic person. He had been since he was young. Emotions resonated within him on a level that they did not for many other people. Though this turbulent emotional water was held together by his rigid, harder exterior.

When Juugou stepped back from him, he was grinning, and it made Haikyo smirk back at him. When he wiped his face and agreed--that he would become a ninja the Yomi would be proud of--Haikyo nodded to him. "Good. I can't take just anyone back home to meet my family, now can I?" He said with a grin. "You must first be worthy of standing beside me, there, as a second son." He said with a grin, making it all seem rather grand, though truly his parents would have little expectation. Though, at the end of the day, Haikyo already knew that they would walk life's path and have massive effect on the other's souls. It was a familial feeling link between them, and it was something Haikyo had never felt with another person. Being devoid of siblings or strong friends that he spent any regular time with...he hadn't made many connections in his time.

When Juugou suggested that they go to get some ramen, his eyes widened and he nodded. "I would love to get some ramen. It is your specialty in this village? I would be honored to partake." He stated. He was likely more excited about it than most would be, but his mother and father had used ramen as a sort of delicacy or treat. When they had a little extra money, they would bring him home ramen after a long day's work at the shrines and holy grounds. He hadn't eaten ramen in many weeks, however, and he was excited to see what it was like here, if it was this village's specialty. Juugou led the way, and as they moseyed along through the village, Haikyo kept his watchful eyes darting to and fro as he mapped the place out as well as he could. He needed to etch the things he truly wanted to memorize into his soul. These things would pass onward to his soul's next life. Perhaps that was why he could be a wise and mature man for his age...technically his soul had lived through many lives, and those previous lives would surely have dormant information in droves.

By the time that they had arrived at the ramen stall, Haikyo was feeling much better about his bearings in the village. "You know, after handling a couple of things around here, I think I'm starting to sort of get a bit adjusted to this place. Thankfully my family didn't live in the village, back home, so I wasn't already used to such a large place's layout. It's a big place, but if you break it down into smaller sections in your head, it makes it a lot easier." He said as they sat down at the stall and the owner of the shop came out and smiled big toward Juugou. "Ahhh! Welcome back, Juugou-Kun. It's been a little while. How have you been? And, you, sir? I don't believe we've met! I'm Ichiraku!" Haikyo looked at the older gentleman and he smiled, nodding toward him. He seemed incredibly friendly, but something about him was deeper than what he showed. Haikyo wondered who the man was, truly, behind the shop-life. "Good day, Ichiraku-San, my name is Haikyo Yomi, and I have recently--" "Ahh, migrated here from the Rain Country, I would imagine. No place else I can think of the Yomi family's last remaining members to be hiding away. No wonder I have not seen you before. No worries, kiddo, I know lots, but it doesn't mean I tell." Ichiraku spoke with a wink and a light chuckle. "So, what can I do for you, fellahs?" Haikyo was dumbfounded by the list of ramen options before him. He didn't know what to do with himself as he looked at the images of them all. They all looked so damn good! He could barely even believe it. He was going to eat this? He could do this whenever he wanted?

Haikyo didn't even have the state of mind to question the man, right now, not yet. He was too busy with his food choices to even get into the difficulty of how the man even knew about his parents, or the details of his clan's descendants. "Umm, I will take a Netsu Ramen please, medium spice." Haikyo stated with a nod, his mouth already watering at the thought of it. "And how about you, Juugou?"

Once the other two genin met up with Sai, he led them back out of the store and into the alleyway that the monk had originally been investigating.

"The man without a head is Hassahiro Yagami. Or at least I'm pretty sure it is judging by the build as well as the silk clothing. It matches the description of the man and the quality of his goods." The man leaned himself against the wall of the building, his arms crossed as he looked at the two who accompanied him at the moment. "Earlier I had went to investigate his home. I found a strange metal, something I'm not familiar with but judging by how heavy it was it had to be pretty dense.

Now I'm not particularly sure what function it proves to hold but I have sent it in for testing. I'm going to assume that is what was so important in that safe and why we have two dead bodies on our hands. We should head back to the office to send in our report, hopefully there we'll be able to get some elaboration."
From the information that the monk and the drunk had brought, that was all he could piece together. He was holding back one vital piece of information from them and that was the metal was an alloy he had seen a long time before.

In fact it was a special alloy only mined in the earth country and was the cornerstone of former Tsuchikage Sentei Hyuga's secret arts. It was a prized mineral and for it to be so far away from home was an ill omen, at least for the earth country. Someone had to have been smuggling it out, it was likely the merchant Yagami that was hiding it amongst his wares for sale but the question that remained was for whom and why was Yagami cut out if he had been successful in his efforts.

As he pushed himself from the wall and began making his way back to the main street and towards the shinobi headquaters, Sai looked back at the two and gave a wolfish grin, "I hope you weren't intending to get any sleep tonight. I have a feeling this is only the beginning of it."

Juugou took a second to register what Haikyo had just said about not being able to take just anyone back home to his family, adding that the younger Genin must first be worthy of standing beside him as a second son. In his mind the Aburame knew the true intent of Haikyo's words but he couldn't stop himself from chuckling. "You know, Haikyo, if i didn't know any better i would say that sounded like a marriage proposal." said Juugou jokingly, grinning back at his team mate and putting a hand on his shoulder. He pulled back his arm when Haikyo agreed to his ramen recommendation and began leading the way to the restaurant, which was about ten minutes away at the pace they were going. The streets were less crowded now that it was afternoon and adults were either in their places of business. or out on missions. Children would still be at the academy and the elders would either be at a park playing shogi and go, or at the casino gambling their pensions away.

At length the facade of Ramen Ichiraku became visible in the distance. Juugou heard tales that before the Fourth Great War the entire village had been demolished by a lone man from the Akatsuki. Ichiraku was so influential that it was one of the first establishments that were rebuilt after the attack. "I noticed." replied the younger Genin to Haikyo's comment about becoming adjusted to the lay of the land. "You seem to be catching on really quickly to where certain things are." said the young Aburame, stopping momentarily for a merchant with a cart to pass before continuing to walk the final portion until they had arrived at the eatery. "That's the best way to go about it if you're not used to big places." Juugou paused to hold the door open for Haikyo to enter before heading in himself. He was greeted by Teumaru the ramen chef, who also asked Haikyo who he was. Teumaru resembled the man whose picture hung from the wall: the legendary Teuchi, founder of Ichiraku. The strong jaw and prominent cheeks were still prominent, but while Teuchi had chinky eyes Teumaru's were visible. ""Hey there Ichiraku! I've been trying to keep a low profile. You know why." replied Juugou, taking a seat next to Haikyo. He sat quietly, listening to Teumaru unveil Haikyo's family secret almost nonchalantly before asking the older teen what he'd be eating. To this day the younger Genin had no idea through what means the ramen chef got his info, but he did keep what he learned to himself as long as it didn't pertain to his 'valued' customers. "I'll have the Soba in chicken broth with an extra egg, please?" replied the Aburame when Ichiraku asked for his order. "Coming right up!" he said and began working, dropping the noodles in metal wire nets submerged in boiling water. Then the meat was placed on the grill to cook. Before long their bowls were assembled perfectly and served with a pair of chopsticks on the side. "Enjoy! And congratulations to you both on becoming Genin." Teumaru then moved off to take care of other customers.

Juugou dug into his meal, not realizing how hungry he really was until the tantalizing scent of the chicken and broth reached his nostrils. He finished half his bowl before turning to Haikyo and asking, "Would you be up for some training after our food settles. There's something i've been meaning to ask you." He then went back to his meal, finishing it in a matter of minutes. Teumaru came back around and asked if they wanted anything else. "I'll have a glass of water." "Alright. How about you Haikyo-kun?" he inquired. "Oh, i almost forgot. There have been rumors of some rare minerals being dug up in the Earth Country. It seems that the other countries are making moves to get a hand on some of them so you guys may end up going on a trip soon."

As the boys walked down the street together, Juugou mentioned that what Haikyo had said could have been taken as some form of marriage proposal, and Haikyo stopped dead in his tracks, his jaw slack and his eyes wide. "N...no. No that's not. I mean, you know what I mean. I just...humph." He said, throwing his arms up in exasperation as Juugou laughed at him, though he was laughing a little bit himself behind his false frown. When they had gotten to the restaurant, and Teumaru began cooking their food, Haikyo watched him intently, studying his technique from a distance and trying to absorb every moment of it. It had been a very long time since he had seen a man cook like this, or since he had tasted food like this. He had gotten so used to the day to day at home, isolated from society. Farming for themselves--surviving.

When Teumaru congratulated them on becoming genin, he smiled, slightly, reaching to touch the headband, wrapped rightly around his upper bicep on his right arm. It was at that point that he smell hit his nostrils, and his stomach let out an obnoxious growl as his mouth immediately began to salivate. It was likely the best scent he had ever experienced. It lingered with him, and it was as if he could taste it, it was so potent. He reached down with his chopsticks and plucked a healthy wad of noodles from the bowl, lifting them to his mouth. When the flavor washed over his tongue, his breath caught in his throat and he felt tears well in his eyes. His eyes glossed over, though he did not shed a tear as he brought the bowl to his lips and drank some of the broth. It was the best thing he had ever eaten. It was as if he had won some form of prize...that he had been gifted a king's own meal.

When Juugou turned to speak with him, he nodded, his mouth full. He slowly chewed the food and swallowed, taking a deep breath, as he had been eating very quickly. "Yes, I would be more than happy to do some training with you, Juugou. I would like to explore the different methods I might be able to employ with the energies I am beginning to learn to utilize. What is it you would like to ask?" He went back to eating as Juugou had, as well, and he paced himself through the rest of his meal, savoring every bite as if it might be his last. He couldn't believe food like this would be at his fingertips. When Teumaru asked if they wanted anything, Juugou asked for water, and Haikyo caught his brain racing at the thought of being able to try something...anything. "Do you...have coffee?" He asked, holding his breath in anticipation. "You really have been in hiding, huh? Poor folks. Yeah, we have coffee. I'll get some for you right away." Haikyo rubbed his hands together, unnaturally excited.

As Teumaru went about making the coffee, he explained that there was some sort of rare mineral that had surfaced in the Earth Country. Haikyo wondered if the man was implying that they would send them to retrieve such objects, even though they were only genin. He wondered. "I wonder what's so special about this mineral...that so many people would hunt for it with such fervor." He stated, more absentmindedly than anything. He stroked his beard, wondering what this might mean for them. Where they may be thrown...or what they may be thrown into. The suggestion to train only became even more apparently necessary. They had to get stronger if they were going to be able to stand toe-to-toe with ninja from other countries. Much stronger.

The smell of the coffee wafted up to his nostrils and his eyes rolled back as he breathed it in. He paused his thoughts to take a sip of the coffee with milk and sugar. The hot beverage washed over his mouth--burnt and bitter, and yet somehow it was still damned good. He decided he liked this drink. It was a very different, strong flavor, and it was said to increase one's energy. When he returned to his thoughts about having to get to equal ground, he found himself getting ramped up. Haikyo hadn't even managed to figure out how to use his own chakra until today, it was unlikely that he was going to be able to fight on even ground with anyone...not unless he was some sort of genius. He laughed at the thought of that. He had always been the failure of his family...shunned. He had never been taught anything by his parents. Just left to watch them...observe and think upon it. He never learned a damn thing until he came here! But...he was not going to give into failure. He could not fail. He would not. He would master his soul, and he would learn to control it. And he would do it before there was any sort of clash.

"Whenever you're ready, I am, Juugou. I feel like, if Ichiraku is right, it means we're going to need to really learn how to defend ourselves beyond the basics. Thank you so much for everything, Ichiraku-Sama. Your meal was one of the greatest I have ever had." Haikyo said with a genuine smile as he picked the mug up and downed the rest of the coffee inside it, ready to get some training time in.

As he ate, Juugou couldn't help but look over and watch Haikyo dig into his bowl of ramen. It was almost as if the older teen had never eaten anything more delicious in his life, and it made the young Aburame wonder just how set apart his team mate lived from simple pleasure like soup. After Juugou had spoken to Haikyo the older teen turned to look at him, noodles still dripping from his full mouth. After chewing and swallowing the Yomi agreed to training with him and asked what it was that the younger Genin wanted to know. "I was wondering... It is your clan's ability to be able to access and harness soul energy. Would it be possible for someone like me to be able to learn the basics of those skills? I understand it may be impossible for me to get to the level where i can be able to speak to spirits, and whisper to dogs," he added with a chuckle, "But if i'm able to tap into soul energy it may increase the effectiveness of my medical ninjutsu." Juugou really hoped that Haikyo would be able to impart what knowledge he had on the Yomi Clan's abilities. When he had hugged the older teen earlier, Juugou definitely felt something profound. It was as if their energies merged, and they pulled apart with a deeper understanding of each other. The Aburame had noticed how he thought of his team mate as weird to a lesser extent, and their budding relationship that was something akin to being siblings. When Teumaru came around asking for their drink choices Haikyo paused for a few moments then asked if coffee was available, which prompted the chef to comment about the older teen really having been hiding for a long time. When he left to get the beverage Juugou asked, "Is this your first time drinking coffee?"

"You see, Haikyo, this isn't just some mineral." replied Teumaru as he was adding milk and sugar to the coffee, "They say that the substance is tied to a previous Tsuchikage. Much like the crystals in the caverns that sprang up sometime after Lady Hitori, one of our previous Hokage, disappeared some time ago." Teumaru walked up and served the coffee, warning the Yomi that it was hot. Juugou had already finished his bowl at this point and was sipping the water slowly to cool himself down and cleanse his palate. "How much do i owe you, Ichiraku?" he asked, opening his wallet and dipping his hand in, but the chef held up his hand. "Today's meal is on the house. I heard tales of how you two stopped some creepy grandpa from defacing the Kage Rock, and found a kid he had kidnapped. Think of it as a little thank you from the villagers." Juugou was going to insist but he knew by the stubborn face Teumaru was making meant that there was no arguing the point so he put away his money with a defeated sigh, at which Teumaru smiled and nodded pointedly. It was at that point that Haikyo said that he was ready to go, thanking Teumaru before downing the rest of his drink. "You are truly welcome Haikyo. It humbles me to hear you enjoyed the meal. Feel free to come back at any time to sample our other varieties. Good luck with your training, you two!" he called as they both Genin left the establishment waving back. Juugou looked around thinking of where to go to train with Haikyo. Due to the nature of what was being taught, he decided on one of the small training facilities in a secluded corner of the village. Official ninjas were able to use small rooms in the facility to engage in training away from prying eyes. There were firing ranges with targets that were able to take on both weapons and small-scale ranged jutsu. "The facility we're going to is on the other side of town, about a half hour walk, so our stomachs should settle by the time we get there." said Juugou, walking beside Haikyo. "So, what did you think about Ichiraku?" he asked, smiling a bit when he recalled the look on the Yomi's face when the man had read him to a tee.

The drunk sighed, while shaking his head back and forth. Murdering someone for material objects happened way too frequently, twas' a sad thought. Lives shouldn't have to be cut short over someone trying to make some quick ryo. Just the thought had him frustrated, although strangely motivating him. "Nah, I'm ready to dig in on this one." At this point the genin was getting fairly exhausted, between the traveling and today's events the boy hadn't much time to get rest. Bed probably never sounded so good before, but he'd trek on until they'd figure this murder sleuth mystery.

Kaito, alongside the team made their way back to the shinobi headquarters, where he hoped they'd have some sort of insight on the murder situation. "So that rock or metal or whatever... What do you think it is? I mean like, what do you think makes it so special?" Maybe this rare metal had some sort of crazy powers, or maybe it was crafted into some indestructible weaponry? Hopefully they'd have some answers sooner than later, but until then they'd probably need to pass some information the the headquarters about the situation at hand.

The trio walked inside their destination, and Kaito made a move toward the front desk. "So uh hey... We uh... found a dead guy." Obviously this was new to him, Kaito wasn't even sure why he decided to take it upon himself to inform the secretary. A hint of nervousness plagued his voice and body. What a shitty way to start off your ninja career, right?

Haikyo had never, in his life, been more satisfied by a meal. He had known good food on some days--very good food. When he visited the Rain Village and stayed with the civilians there...they could cook very well. But this man's Ramen. It was incredible. Beyond incredible. It was simply art. The coffee to wash the best meal down he had ever had was something he was grateful for as well. He hadn't ever partaken before, but the flavor of it was far different than anything he had ever had. It was not necessarily good...but at the same time, it almost was. Quite the strange sensation. When Juugou had asked him about whether or not he could teach him the Haikyo family arts, to enhance his healing abilities. Haikyo nodded to him slightly, though his face was very contemplative. The nod was subtle, and it held more of a questioning feel to it than an actual answer. And then the conversation swept onward, Haikyo fading into the proceeding talks without speaking further on the matter. He had to think very seriously now. When Juugou asked him if it was his first time drinking coffee, he smiled and nodded. "Aye. It is. I have smelt it before...the scent of it was always so strong that when someone had it nearby, it was all I would be able to smell." He said with a laugh. "I could almost taste it. So it always left me wondering what it really did taste like." He said, looking nostalgically at the cup as he sipped from it.

Ichiraku began to speak about the metal that they had apparently dug up. It was not just some sort of normal mineral, it was something that was once tied to a Tsuchikage. If it was some sort of special concoction from the land of Earth, it was likely to be a very sturdy metal...if he could get a hold of that...to forge...no...no it was too dangerous. This mineral seemed very sought after, one would be killed for taking it. Ichiraku said that they would have the meal for free as thanks from the villagers, and for the first time since he started his job earlier that day, he felt as though he had really done something. Even finding the poor, tied up kid hadn't really done it, not until now. He stood up, rigid and strong. He slapped his hands together, a fist to an open palm, and he bowed to the man. "Thank you for your generosity, it honors me." Haikyo stated, raising from the bow, a serious expression on his face. He did not take such kindness lightly. "And I hope you will honor me with another visit." Haikyo grinned back at the man as they were leaving and gave a sharp nod. Everything the boy needed to convey was in that nod.

As they walked through the city streets, Haikyo thought about what the boy had asked him for. If there was a way to teach his family's skills to him. But when he asked him about what he thought about Ichiraku, Haikyo smiled fondly. "It is an incredible place. The food is amazing, best I've ever had. And the man...Ichiraku himself...he is a good man. I feel like I can trust him...but that is also a weapon in the wrong hands. Is that really his name? Ichiraku? Or just a working name?" He asked, curious if the man just went by Ichiraku because of the restaurant, or if the restaurant was named after him. They continued on their way for a short while before Haikyo heaved a long and heavy sigh. "There is a reason I didn't say anything to you about teaching you my family's skills before. It is a long story, but one that must be told if you are serious about learning how to tap into the soul. In the simplest of ways to say it...there is no way for a person outside of my family to learn our ways. However...there is more to it than that. It is a specially developed genetic ability passed down from member to member, though our family is small. The ability to use the soul was turned terribly wrong by my great grandfather. He, instead of aiding the souls of the dead on their way to the afterlife, enslaved them. He locked the souls in the bodies of corpses, and he puppeted them against the people of the Country of Iron, in an attempt at bringing glory and power the the family. He wanted to lead that country. But he was a blind fool. The people would not band behind him, but they also could not stop his might. However, the Yomi family would not stand for his betrayal of our ways--and the desecration of the sacred bond of soul. My family fought him to the death...before he could destroy our country. But it cost the lives of almost our entire clan.

My family--me and my parents. Are the last of us. Nobody else has this ability. And, that is quite a shame. Family, you see, Juugou, is not merely your DNA. Family is those around you that you would die for. That you would sacrifice anything for. That would do the same for you. It is friends, it is lovers, it is those who touch your soul in a permanent way. You can not tap into your soul, to move and communicate with its energy, not as you are. But...there is something complicated about my particular body. I believe it to be the reason why my parents refused to teach me much of anything. My body is a container. A vessel for souls. I can take them from an existing vessel and pull them into myself--only if they are willing, and they give themselves fully into me. Thus--the opposite is also possible for me. The same power that my great grandfather used to destroy our clan. The ability to harness...and also provide souls. But I have no control over this ability. But if I were to be able to...I could pass you a piece of my own soul...substituting it with your own. If it were patched into your existing soul's energy, and as I can control my own energy, I could then effectively infect your soul with my own. This would essentially mix your entire soul with that of a Yomi soul. Hypothetically, you would be a Yomi as well as an Aburame. But...as I said, I can not control it yet. I may not be able to teach you how to use it right now. But, if we give it some time...I will learn. If that is something you are willing to do, in order to learn how to tap into those energies."
He stated, the winded speech ending as they were coming up to the training grounds. As they went inside, he took a deep breath, looking around at the different things available to them. It was basic, sure, but it was all they needed. A place they could practice their skills in private--develop their skills without people looking on. Haikyo was excited for this. He was beginning to learn--to tap into the abilities his family had known for generations. He had been stunted out of fear of what he might do with his power...perhaps he was a genius indeed...perhaps. "So...how do you want to go about this. Separately? Sparring? I wasn't sure what you had in mind."
