It frowned. "Well, if you can walk, go get yourself some coffee, and a cookie. I'm gonna wander. Things sound fun." She'd wander towards the sound of crazy gunfire, and hell. In the middle of the hallway, before the room with the guns. Lowering to a kneel, She'd set her shotgun down, and draw her Browning. Peering around, into the room, she'd target the turrets, one at a time, and fire at them until they were non-working. She'd take out Four with one clip, and then reloading, would step further down the hall, Holding the shotgun against a shoulder as she went, arm extended, cocking around corners to target more. She'd reload, of course. Peering at the remaining, previously unseen turrets, she'd snap off a few rounds, before ducking away. Little did she know, she was probably mingling with the covertly camo'd troops by now.

"What's got you little wonders all- OW!" She's silenced as the turret blasts her shoulder with a lucky burst. She sags the shoulder a bit, even as her body kicks into effect, first clotting, and then healing the wound slowly.

They would have three options, one a long duct leading to 2C PF. There was a short duct that would take them to 1B and 1C respectively, and another duct that would take them to them to 1D and 1F respectively. How could they tell, simply, they were labeled.

Naturally, the one that led to 2C PF would be the option. As long as they were on the second ring they were of course headed in the right direction. It was closer than anything else, sure enough.

KillerSumo
Problem, the security techs in ring four were expecting them. Heavy steel bars would drop across the labeled ducts, including the outake duct they had just entered through. The fan room, on the ceiling, what apeared to be a lighting panel held a hidden detection device, so even if they remained completely on the move, a number of them would be caught in the fan room, at least temporarily.

This was true- two of them were indeed caught. They heard the motors whining though- the signal of the sentry guns activating was pretty clear to them. As they dropped at the same time, the two still in the fan room opened fire, effectively taking either of the guns out at either side. The team in the center didn't have any trouble with theirs either, and it shorted out as it was shot clean through from behind. They had made it, but the others had not.

"Keep moving as soon as you can," Andrews shouted behind his shoulder. "The rest of us will just have to push ahead; we're heading in the right direction."

((Reasoning: The air from the fan, which is coming from the floor if I'm correct, can't stop, much less divert a projectile with a muzzle velocity of about 1100 feet per second. The shots would reach the guns before they could fire. The steel bars are easy to shoot around, so that's gone. If this was a trap, it was far too simple. Try again.))

KillerSumo
Alpha group would only have one problem, sentry guns that could see them despite the optical camo. The public relations office opened up into a sentry gun hell once they were midway down the hall way to the door that led into the corporate office & law section of ring one. Ten Sentry guns positioned in the main halls and corners of the office space dropped and spit 7.62mm fire. Three of the guns were on the hall in which team alpha travelled, one in the center, two on the ends. But the others had a clear line of fire over the cubicles. No other defenses here, there had been no time to position any.

Naturally though, the backup had arrived. Only that they didn't have any backup, much less know anyone else was here. The other three turrets were already taken out by the camo'd troops, so they stood from their positions and Evan called out, without deactivating his camo, "Thanks... But I don't think I called for any backup. Who are you and what are you doing here?"

It would scratch her head as the voice spoke. "Damn imagination, talkin' up again. I am your master, imagination, and I do believe you have no reason to know what I'm doing. Go back to being quiet until I need to lie, or something." She'd wander off, through the office, calling out. "Hulloo? Who's been pissing off the turrets, eh?" Peer, peer. She seemed to have an almost innocent mindset, a child with a gun. She continues raising ruckus, peering into cubicles looking for the people pissing off the guns.

And all at once, three men and three women simply appeared from nowhere, turning off their camo all at once. Guns were pointed in her direction as Evan walked forward. "Imagining things now? Now please, awnser the question or leave."

Quote:
Shadow Blend (Su): In any condition of illumination other than full daylight, a very young or older shadow dragon can disappear into the shadows, giving it total concealment. Artificial illuminiation, even a light or continual flame spell, does not negate this ability. A daylight spell, however, does.

Quote:
Silent Image
Illusion (Figment)
Level: Brd 1, Sor/Wiz 1
Components: V, S, F
Casting Time: 1 standard action
Range: Long (400 ft. + 40 ft./level)
Effect: Visual figment that cannot extend beyond four 10-ft. cubes + one 10-ft. cube/level (S)
Duration: Concentration
Saving Throw: Will disbelief (if interacted with)
Spell Resistance: No

This spell creates the visual illusion of an object, creature, or force, as visualized by you. The illusion does not create sound, smell, texture, or temperature. You can move the image within the limits of the size of the effect.

The flares revealed dragons, though they appeared smaller, and the missiles flew. For each missile that actually hit a dragon, it would vanish, and the skies would flash with multiple explosions, but nothing would fall. They were mere illusions.

A shadow dragon appeared in the city, literally jumping out of the shadows. It opened its maw and breathed out a cloud of billowing, smoky shadows with weakening (energy drain) effect, engulfing one of the fire patrols and it's escort infantry troops while busy fighting the inferno from the remains of The Storm. If the troops and firefighters didn't succumb to the dragon's frightful presence, they could probably fight back, but they would suddenly feel weak and exhausted once the dragon's shadowy breath weapon engulfed them. The dragon would charge into their ranks and start tearing them to pieces soon after that.

Another dragon slipped out of the shadows behind a different formation of troops and firemen, sweeping it's tail to toss them all into the fires. The rest appeared in different parts of the city, mainly around the wreckage where more forces were concentrated. They used their breath weapons to weaken the defenders before tearing into them, or employed hit and run tactics - using illusions to draw the troops' attention before striking, then hiding in the shadows again to strike elsewhere.

It would swirl, on a heel, sort of a pirouette. "Oh, hello there. Did you make them angry?" She murmurs, peering to the turrets. She doesn't answer the question. Evan hadn't asked her anything. Her imagination had.

Evan nodded and said, "Yes. We made them angry."

He cleared his throat and said, "Check for targets and guard the exits- we might have to hold this location while I get this sorted out." They nodded and moved to act- two in the front and three at the entance they had just broken into, while Evan turned back towards... the creature. That's what she was for now, in his mind.

"Now... who are you, and what are you doing stumbling in on a mission that no one has been told of? I suggest you be concise about your awnser, lest I leave you here for a worse fate."

Well, he was waiting. And it had better be good.

It frowned. It was a good question. "I am... A mercenary. I was investigating Lament, when some Red dame decided to start shoosting at me. So... I poofed." At this, very slowly, she would show him one of her Marbles. "Little portal-like doodads. It put me here, so I wandered around. Next thing I know, Zombies are blowing s**t up, things are going to hell, and it all seems to be focused on this building. The red girl kept me from my appointment with Evan, so I decided to scrap that and reschedule. Hopefully he won't be too angry. Hear it's good R&D he's got." She turns around at that, wandering to and fro, just kind of checking things out, looking for weenies that should pop out and offer a spook.

Evan nodded. So this one was the one who he had hired, since he had assigned Red captaincy of R.I.O.T. Five. He tossed her a spare Tactical Response Watch, saying "Here. I suggest you put that on and get yourself aquainted to following orders and moving in formation. And please, don't do anything that would endanger our objective. What's your name?"
PostPosted: Tue Sep 19, 2006 9:58 pm

It flapped it's arms as the watch was tossed at it, comically slapping it around in a nigh-fumble of a catch, before she managed to secure it, easily, between both hands.

"I will, sir. Yessir. Eripse Arrika, Sir." So, It finally had a name. A bit of surprise dawned on her face, as she slapped the watch on, Securing it somewhat loose, so it bounced and jounced and wiggled around, when she moved.

"Eripse. Arrika." She murmured to herself, tasting the syllables. And so it should be.

"It fits." She murmured, glancing at Evan. The watch? Or the name?

Evan shrugged and said, "People, close ranks! Eripse will be joining us as a temporary addition. Now, seeing as the camo is no longer effective, we'll have to do this the hard way. We are still on silent mode here- keep your rounds chambered until you are fired at."

They nodded as they headed for the center of the room.

"No time for introductions- let's get those asses moving! We got someone to save here," he said as he headed towards the next area, his team in tow.

It- Eri, didn't quite understand the rush and crush. She'd follow, yes, and she pretty much ignored the watch, and holstered her weapons, except for the sword and rod, Figuring there were enough guns around to handle the heavy shoosting.

Tagging along at the rear, She watched them with vague curiousity, wondering who they were here to rescue. Her fingers tightened with resolve on her two weapons, Held up, in a lazy X, Pole infront, and sword behind, Crossing at the tips. The watch merrily booped with the GPS, as it jangled and bounced on her wrist, dancing along her forearm.

"What's this, dark dragons, our fighters are almost useless, hn?" Doctor Iskugawa said, "Yes, I see, they must be utilizing some sort of Shadow power, oh nothing, I think I have the perfect solution, someone with the perfect power, quite the protege of Yaits himself. I will set up the move."

Iskugawa put the phone down and turned on the deflated preacher, "The shadow dragons are killing innocent people with their dark powers. We need a white mage, and despite our association you still seem rather untainted. Do you wish to see any more people die today, Holy Man?"

"Well no," the preacher said, stammering.

"Then you are going to use every last ounce of your power tonight, and drain those dragons of their dark life force. Use your healing spell to absorb all of their dark powers, it may heal them if their is anything left untainted, or it may kill them if they are dark to the core of their heart, either way, you will have absorbed all their power."

"They'll slaughter me," the preacher said.

"There is a chance, but we shall see, now follow! This is the moment you were born for."

~~~~~~~~~~~~
A platform rose from the center above the center of the building, underneith the wind blown holy robes of the preacher was something the Doctor reffered to as a protective vest and full armor was actually a power amplifier that would increase the preacher's power up to a hundred fold as long as the preacher had the will to do so. Around the preacher was a protective TESLA field outside an energy induced protective barrier that would not be withdrawn until the preacher was ready, if any of the dragons ventured too close, they would be in for a shock. The platform itself didn't go up too high, only about ten meters above the fortress itself, enough to allow the preacher to see the death and destruction unfolding around a city he had grown to love and still did despite the recent revelations. The anger rose inside him, not only about the destruction of the city, but also against the betrayal of Yaits that led to such destruction and he decided on his course of action, both short and long term. Silently, his power welled, and the dragons would heed it. A new power welled from deep inside him.
I'm not going to be so gullible any more. I'm not going to be afraid of my own power. I have no need for Yaits, no need for Ymir, I have no need for darkness disguised as light, My powers are my own. The light in my soul will overpower this darkness.
"Darkness, begone!"
The sheilds came down.
New Technique
Quote:
Advanced Darkness Absorption- An advanced form of the healing. The effects of which extend over a wider area, a full kilometer. Binds wounds and heal sickness by absorbing the darkness in the body. All beings powered by darkness within range of the powers effect are derprived of all power, undead are destroyed. The preacher gains this dark power as his own, either to purify and destroy over time and effort, or to use raw as backlash dark power.
With the power amplification, the effects of the preacher's inner power would spread over a radius of 100 kilometers, destroying the undead, and draining the dragons to a helpless state if they relied exclusively on dark abilities. Every living person who had sustained injury within a hundred kilometer radius would find their wounds miraculuosly healed. The security guard with the broken wrist, the stray shot Eripse had taken (Unless she thrived on evil), any wounds the R.I.O.T. had taken, and any injuries sustained by those in the city would be healed as well. Amazingly, the preacher's power would break through much of the magic defenses in the lower portions of the building, disintigrating a number of chimeras in the upper levels of the section three research lab. The most secure experiments deep in the building which were sealed off from holy power's downward surge via return runes and spiritual protection fields would survive, as the preacher projected most of his power outwards and upwards.
It was only a hundred meters to the outer edge of ring two, and about a kilometer and a half until they reached their target, fortunately, the building was laid out so thay could go toward the center in a straight line with many short exceptions, and Melissa's private room was only one level underground. Of course, the straight, wide hall path, would likely be the most heavily defended. There was another locked door into the Corporate offices and Law Center of the HQ. Once the door was blown, they would find a maze of halls. Trip wire panels were set in strategic locations, and of course, there were more turrets. To make matters worse, a regular infantry platoon equiped with thermal sights was stationed throughout the halls. A few were slightly noisy, occasional radio chatter could be heard as men changed positions, but most were hiding, in positions for tactical ambush. These weren't elites, but they were a well trained group.
Team Bravo would, the portion that made it through the trap, would find another set of bars at the end of the tunnel into the second ring. There would be an trigger happy infantryman waiting for them, concealed behind some stacked crates, ready to launch a RPG into their vent at the first noise.
Not one bit. Shadow dragons had ties to the Plane of Shadow, but they were not creatures of shadow. They were mortal, composed of the same things that true dragons are made of, but their abilities differed since they resided primarily in the Plane of Shadow. It did, however, serve to heal whatever wounds they may have suffered in the meantime. Any remaining undead in the city would be destroyed by the spell, but it would hardly gather enough dark power to miraculously heal everyone who's been maimed or injured.
The priest drew the attention of one of the shadow dragons, while the others busied themselves with continued devastation. Taking to the air, the dragon rose up high and then stretched out its wings, swooping down toward the priest. It opened it's mouth as it neared the priest, but rather than shadows spewing from its maw, electricity came instead.
Breath Weapon Substitution
Bolts of chained lightning, similar to that of a blue dragon's breath weapon, streaked from the shadow dragon's mouth to strike the priest dead - or at least fry him nice and well done.
