Samogitian Hi all my name is Gediminas, I am 18 years old and I am from Lithuania. I found Buddhism after I lost my faith in Christianity. Full story here. Actually I am always open-minded so I am interested in learning more about Buddhism and methods of different sects lol Welcome, friend! A mind is like a rose, it is more beautiful when open and blooming.

SkaPigeon420 Welcome, friend! A mind is like a rose, it is more beautiful when open and blooming. Seconding the welcome. biggrin Just be aware that with that comes a provision: Always be critical, always test. Verify for yourself something is right, don't just believe it because someone else says it. Even this. 3nodding

Uhh, hi! :3 I'm Judgement, or Gabie. I live in Toronto, Ontario, am generally female but occasionally identify as male. As I've slowly heard more about Buddhism, it becomes more interesting so it lead me here! I must confess that I lurk ED and it's subforums often and Byaggha has made me even more interested in it. redface She seems so sensible and calm.
I look forward to participating in discussions and such... once I get over my forum-shyness. ;D
Oh, also, I'm particularly interested in Theravada Buddhism.

I seem sensible and calm. The internet does wonders for people! In reality, I'm in the process of going nuts through nursing school. xd
Welcome to the guild though, Gabie! Always good to see new faces here.

Hi. my name is Jason. I'm currently just spiritual but not religious, but buddhism appeals to me greatly. Back when I was in high school, we learned about the major world religions in a world history class, and buddhism fascinated me the most. After high school I started exploring different spiritual paths, and soon my interest in buddhism was renewed. The only thing about buddhism that I don't believe in is reincarnation, but other than that I believe in just about everything else about buddhism.

Welcome to the guild, Jason.
Funnily enough, I don't know about the whole rebirth ideal either - I haven't really had a chance to test it properly and I can't make a definitive claim on it one way or the other. Not knowing/not really believing hasn't made a difference in how I live now anyway. 3nodding
Be here now, and don't worry about a supposed afterlife/next life. Here is the only place you are.

Hello everyone! My name's Magnolia and I'm 14-years-old; I'm Agnostic. Up until 8th grade, I went to a Christian school. I kind of strayed away from it all, there were things they taught that I didn't agree with. In fact, I got into several arguments with my Bible teacher over some prejudice things he said.
I've always been interested in othe religions since 6th grade when I chose to do a book report on Buddha. But I just don't know where to start, I'm not sure which books to read. But I'm glad I found this guild! biggrin

Welcome to the guild, Magnolia! If we can be of any help, let us know. 3nodding
As for books? If you want a really good and pretty short history of the Buddha's life, you can try Karen Armstrong's book Buddha. biggrin

Hello! My name is Jenn, and I am seventeen years old at present~ I am extremely open spiritually. I'm one of those people that thinks all paths are perfectly valid. I, however, am more spiritual than anything. But I guess you could call me an eclectic neo-pagan. 3nodding Buddhism seems like a very neat path, which has a lot to offer even to non-practitioners.

Hi. im Carolyn. I am 14 years old. My entire family is hardcore catholic, but i dont agree with their beliefs. I am baptized, and have received first eucharist, but refuse to be confirmed. I know a lot about Buddhism, and have attended a bona fide prayer service performed by monks who were visiting from Bhutan. Im not so into it that i am willing to give up all earthly attachments, but i do believe in the philosophy it teaches and i love to meditate. i try to meditate every day, opening my chakras. I have studied the hand positions and mantras for each.
