"Three more eggs," Brumath mused to His and his fellow Benden dragons, "they are all so full of joy they forget to hate, but what will come after? What will our healers do? Why are they here? Do you know? Have you seen it? The pieces are there, the pieces are here, and we brought the pieces with us. Sickness spreads in breath, in touch, and some sickness spreads more easily than other sickness. Is it here? When will it show? How did it begin? Questions and questions even in the answer to why they are here and thus why we are here... But how will they end their study? Tell me, what do you think they will do? Perhaps they will want to study the new queen." Perhaps. Humm. He wanted to know, and His certainly did; the unknown was not something his rider embraced.

Well, wasn't that cute? For whatever reason, the Green was hanging back and encouraging her brethern to Impress before she'd have her pick of the remainders. It was slightly bittersweet, watching her hang back while her clutchmate scanned the boys.

'You silly thing', Jala thought to himself, 'You need to Impress too, you know. It isn't good to sit around and be hungry.' Hopefully, even with her waiting, she'd be able to find Hers. She looked strong, though! And she was calm; hopefully she wouldn't go Between like that poor green had.

With whirling blue-green eyes, Galvanth regarded Yvoth for a long moment. Then, very much as though he were a silly weyrling, and not at all the stately Bronze she knew and ... did not quite love, he perked up. Do you really think that we could? he asked, absolutely delighted by the idea of meeting the precious dragonets that romped about on the Sands below. S'raid does not want me to play with the dragonets, the Bronze said wistfully. He thinks that there will be trouble if I go to meet them. Which, S'raid would like to note, there would almost assuredly be. Somehow, he didn't think that the residents of Trine would realize that his great big wherry only wanted to greet and spoil the newly hatched dragonets. I would like that very much. ... S'raid brought his hand to his face, covering it with a groan.

When Brumath addressed him, as well as the others, Galvanth turned his regard upon the Brown. They should not study a Queen, but they may wish to. There was not much more he had to say to his fellow, feeling little need to navigate the Brown's habitually difficult speech in order to work out his entire meaning. Perhaps they will want to examine a dud, if one should appear. For the Bronze, it was truly unsettling to think that they might have brought the sickness with them. ... That, perhaps, mingling with the young dragonets would spread the contagion to them. Was that possible? He did not want to bring the Northen ailment to them.

It looked like the blue was going to go first then. Perhaps the green, like the queen, wanted a full pick of the candidates before she made her choice. Still, at least she was cheering her clutch brother on while he found his rather than demanding he choose faster. Kiipa shifted her weight from foot to foot, watching as the blue made his way gleefully towards the boys. Go little blue go! Hopefully the green was going to choose a girl.

Welp, looked like some other dragonets were avoiding The Shovel, and La couldn't help but laugh at that, putting her hands on her hips and shaking her head at their behaviour. Another dragonet to the boys, but he was cute enough that La couldn't be upset with him, particularly with the green cheering him on. Rocking back on her heels once again, she gave a low, encouraging whistle, keeping her expression blithe in the hopes that she wouldn't manage to attract O'rer's attention. If the man hadn't already had an anyeurism from all the out-of-line behaviour that had already gone on. But then her attention was once again detracted and she turned around, scoping out people she knew in the Stands to see what-all was going on with them. Ofelia looked...bored. And she couldn't seem to read the expression on T'vek's face, though she saw Taikoth easily enough.

Well, it would all be over soon, Ofie. And the heat was really starting to get to La. Perhaps a swim would be in order.

The first green looked like it might go Between, with its eyes swirling like they were, but wait. She moved back to the females and continued to find Hers. Another Impression made and that left five eggs to hatch and impress. Saykiro smiled a nervous smile at the thought he might be one of the few who wouldn't impress. All the stories he told his mother about the training and chores for the riders, his knew she wouldn't be mad or disappointed, she would just cheer him on for the next one.

A green and blue hatched next. What beauties they are. The green seemed to wait as she looked for Hers, while the blue moved his way through the boys.

Viskal raised an eye at the bickering pair. Good grief, they ought to get on with it. They could afford to be charming when they’d found Theirs and ended the suspense. The weyrwoman couldn’t get on with her shovel work until they cleared out of the way.

---

Yvoth glanced at Brumath, confused as always to his speech. When she didn’t think he would press her for a reply, she tilted her head toward the bronze, all suppressed eagerness until the bronze finally spoke up. I should think so. Humans are to hatchings the way gold are to their clutches. I’m sure we can observe them later. She crooned happily, swept up with gleeful emotions.

K’la glanced sidelong to where their dragons were gathered. Easy, dear. Try not to startle those Trine dragons around you, she warned through her affection for her dragon’s ecstatic nature. She might have chastised Hers for wanting to fraternize with the Trine clutch, especially the atypicals, but she was too relieved to see Yvoth merry again. The green had been so skittish since Alumanth’s untimely death. They could speak later about the atypicals later if necessary.

S'kor took it all in with his dragon at his side. He realized that he had much he needed to learn now. Oh, he knew the rumors about the Weyr, but they were just that. Rumors. It was time to sort rumor from fact. Maybe not today but within the next several for sure. He was pleased to see some of the crimson's clutch hatching on their own. Beside His Scarath also watched the new dragonets picking Theirs. It was good. He flapped his wings just slightly to make sure they'd dried out good. A soft happy croon follows each successful Impression.

She could barely contain a giggle as the little crimson picked a boy rider. He must have sure been surprised! Dynith croons softly with Her's humor.

Revel1984
F'ren shook his head, he thought he'd heard Salin, but guessed he was imagining his friends support, he continued to feed chunks of meat to Toulonth, the meat leaving red trails down his robe front and sleeve. Mine, someone is calling your name, they sound friendly. F'ren looked up to see Salin waling towards him, a Brown in tow "Salin?.... Both of you Impressed? that's great!" he said, a smaller than usualy smile across his lips, he paused in his feeding, then stopped looking down into Toulonth's blue/green whirling eyes It's ok F'renmine, go and see your friend, His looks strong maybe i shall say hello too

Behind them, the hatching seemed to be going well, but right now Salin was far more concerned with what was going on here than the noise in the background.
"I did! This is Linnaeth!" He introduced. "And I guess it's S'in now."
The little brown chirped and crooned cheerfully again, before diving after more food, planting both feet on either side of the bucket defensively as S'in put it down.
"What's her name?" He asked, nodding to Toulonth. "And You have to tell me your Rider name." He wasn't sure how it would have been shortened for the honorific, and didn't want to mess it up. "Gabriel impressed too, did you see? She got a blue! And I think I saw that boy who was sitting in the far back of the class, the really quiet one with the hair..." He gestured vaguely, mimicing Saekagi's tendency to tug at his bangs as though he were trying to make them longer. "I think I saw him with a Crimson."

He wouldn't have admitted it but there was something he liked about there being a new Crimson in this clutch. Right up Benden's sharding nose.

I would like that very much, Yvoth, Galvanth informed his Wingmate, choosing to focus on her for the time being, because she was saying something that he liked. S'raid, who was not, was largely being ignored, and the Bronzerider would have made more of a fuss, but for the fact that it seemed that one some level Galvanth was acknowledging him. He knew that they were in a rather delicate position with Trine, and it would not do for Yvoth or anyone else to stir the Bronze into frightening an already uneasy crowd. It unsettled him that his dragon was so ready to throw caution to the wind in the name of fraternizing with Trine dragonets. But perhaps he should not have been surprised.

After the way that Galvanth had responded to the death of a clutching Crimson, it should have occurred to him that the biggest complaint the Bronze had with that event was that a breeding female had been taken out of the gene pool. And not only that, but that that would bother the great beast because he, on some subconscious, instinctual level, wanted to be a father. This was a new and somewhat unwelcome desire, as far as S'raid was concerned. But perhaps the dragon was hitting his prime. Perhaps, on some level, he knew it. It was bothersome, really, because Galvanth was about seven Turns old. Couldn't he have come to this conclusion earlier, and therefore forewarned his rider?

It didn't take much longer for the blue to find his, the dragon's steps stopping him in front of a boy who'd been looking rather impatient with everything that was going on. There was a bit of a snort in the dragon's rumble as he sat himself down, eyes whirling as he looked up at Viskal.

Mine, your Lerath wonders why is it you are so very nervous?

With her clutchmate now impressed and only the green left on the sands, the small dragon practically roared her delight over the proceeding as she started back out into the crowds, her destination very clearly amongst the girls.

This whole time, V'tur and Iweith had stayed up in the heights watching both the Benden dragons and their riders as well as the Hatching quite diligently. The brown rider did his best to keep his face neutral but anyone watching could see the range of emotions on his face. From the bronze to the gold and the browns to the blues, even the little greens, especially the one that left Pern before finding hers had tugged at his heart strings. He watched slyly to see how the others would react when Abigail started to assist in the Hatchings.

Of course, she only managed to hatch one. One of the boys, V'tur was sure he knew from getting Klah in the kitchens one day. He was rather pleased that his hunch about the boy had paid off. The brown rider made a mental note to go congratulate him later.

This hatching goes well. A strong group, sure of finding theirs. Shame about the little green but the others will find his or hers. The brown spoke to his rider.

"Sometimes, it seems like just yesterday that we found each other." V'tur smiled to himself.

I knew I would find you. How could I not?

"Indeed, beloved. Indeed." V'tur turned his attention to the last of the eggs.

The roar of the green indicated that the blue had made his choice and Kiipa stood tall among the remaining female candidates. This one was coming her way. Without thinking her eyes darted from the green to the remaining eggs. Three chances. When she had touched the eggs not so long ago it had felt like there were an infinite number of possibilities, each egg holding something different. Now there were only thee eggs left unhatched.

But there was also that green, proceeding merrily towards them, and the girl turned her eyes forward to focus on it. One thing at a time. She could think about her chances later.

B'tar was letting his attention wander again, glancing back and forth between the little crimson and her new rider, and the new hatchlings, and the remaining eggs. Would she be the only atype hatched today? He was almost curious to see more, just to see how they behaved. The color of the 'crimson' stood out distinctly enough, he was rather curious to see the others, just to say he had.

You're going to make me jealous. Primath snorted softly.

Don't be, you know I'm your partner.

He sucks in his breath as he watches the strikingly colored blue find his rider. What a handsome beast he'll be someday. Scarath trills and turns to look at His. His eyes whirl a little faster with streaks of yellow in them. 'Mine? Do you wish I was colored like him?' He blinks and looks back to his own. "No! Of course not! You're perfect as you are and I'll love you forever. It was simple admiration for his coloring. He could never match you." He knew His wouldn't lie, and the yellow faded as quickly as it had appeared.
