Rex was glad that she was taking comfort in him, even thought they'd only spoken once before.

Rex didn't stop the slow motion of his hand brushing up and down her back, the friction adding to the needed heat to keep this girl concious. He sniffed occasionally, but held back the coughs so he didn't disrupt the girl resting on him.

In times like these, Rex would never be able to do it alone. He needed someone to hold and comfort. Someone to care for and share the moment with. Solitady could only be delt with in times of depression or great sadness, these weren't the greatest times of his life, but certainly not the worst either.

He continued to stare absently out the entry, watching the rain leak off the roof or the occasional splat against his skin. The sound was numbing, just an omnipresent hum or roll of the rain was the only sound to be heard. The scaled Amaya in his arms curled up in his lap like an overgrown child and the wetness of his clothes stuck to his back. He could taste some of his last meal, berries, in his mouth, yet his nose was too clogged to smell the slightest thing.

"It's quiet... a peaceful quiet."

Avery Calder
Oh... well, maybe there were worse things than turning into an animal. Avery thought he understood what Colche was trying to tell him. Well, that would explain why she seemed nervous around Rex and I before... Avery thought. He smiled at her. "Then it's a good thing you're here now, huh? It doesn't seem like there are any bad men here. Do you know where Aubrey went?"

Colche frowned slightly, no she didn't know exactly, Aubrey had just told her that she was going away for a little while "Noas.." she pouted softly her big deep blue eyes lifting to look at Avery as she bit her bottom lip though she stopped doing this pretty quickly "ow" she frowned, ehr fangs had become very sharp, she was going to have to stop biting her lip when she was nervey. "Island Colche home" she whispers snzzling in to the guy once again, though she needed his chest a little like a big jkitty and the soft, airry puurr started rattling from her chest "Went with Moreau..no know where" after a moment more of snuggling her face in to his chest she looked up at Avery "nice men, island not hurt Colche, make happy..most time" she was of course exclueding the current situation, changing, being locked out of her plex. She wanted to go to the canteen and eat chocolate cake and cuddle up inside her plex but she couldn't. If aubrey was here, she would make it better, she always did.

For all Avery knew, Aubrey and Moreau were just other people on the island that were being turned into animals as well. He wondered what kind of animals they were. "Well, I'm sure Aubrey and Moreau will be back sometime, and you'll get to see her soon," he said, smiling at Colche. "It's not like they can leave the island, right? So they have to be somewhere."

When Colche snuggled up against him again and he heard her purring, he just couldn't help himself. "You're so cute!" Avery grinned, and he held her close, cuddling. The feline really was adorable.

Colche giggled softly as he called her cute, she really liked the word, it always made her smile and she did so now. It was a strange thing to see something with permanent tears smile perhaps but for a moment she looked happy until she remembered the pains in her spine. The pain usually left fairly swiftly, it was the change that hurt though she itched for days and her tail bone ached painfully for a long time. "Avery pretty" she stated with a little kittyish grin once again. One of the few words she loved to use for people she liked. Handsome simply wasn't in her vocabulary "Thankyous" she puurred once again, ehr large blue eyes resting in a slightly admireing manner upon the blond haired guy. Noone but Aubrey had ever comforted her after a change, it was nice, nice to know that someone she hardly even knew was willing to look after her.

Avery was used to more people calling him pretty than handsome anyway, so it didn't bother him at all. "Thank you, too!" he smiled at her again. It was true they hardly knew each other at all, but Avery couldn't just sit by and do nothing when it had been obvious how much pain the girl was in. Running away and letting her go though the change alone would have been cruel, even though Avery had no idea what to expect after the fact. Thankfully, it seemed she didn't have the instincts to hunt and kill prey; otherwise, he would have been in big trouble for sticking around.

Colche gave a long, soft releife filled sigh as she snuggled closer in to Avery. It wasn't long before ehr breathing became soft, rythmical, she had obviously dozed off in his arms, exhausted from her change. What would happen after this change only time would tell. She had already had the longing wish to be alone, the lone cheetah, but the human part of ehr still wished and begged to be loved and cared for. She was dependant upon people and probably always would be. For now though, sleep and the chance to dream her childish dreams. She twitched a bit in her sleep, dark night mares creeping in to interrupt ehr happy reverie. They would pass and she would sleep on, too tired to be awake, too tired to be afraid.

Rex was glad that she was taking comfort in him, even thought they'd only spoken once before.

"It's quiet... a peaceful quiet."

"Yeah... though I wish the rain would stop. It's driving me insane." Amaya said, her eyes closed and her body still curled into Rex to keep warm. The constant pounding of rain outside was like a hammer being hit overhead that never seemed to end.

"Yeah, it's starting to get a bit old." He remmebered when they washed up on the beach a few mornings ago. The warmth of the sand felt so good on his skin, but all that Rex could feel now was the wet and bone-chilling cold given from the rain. At least Amaya, although cold blooded, was acting slightly like a blanket instead of giveing him body heat. "Is the weather normally really nice here?"

"Normally, yeah. Before I changed it was too hot for me, but after I became cold-blooded it was normally really comfortable... only recently did it start getting colder. Especially at night." The iguana said, her eyes half-opening.

She then blinked, something coming to mind. "... What date is it?"
PostPosted: Thu Mar 02, 2006 7:03 pm

Cold-blooded. It was hard for him to imagine being cold-blooded. Always having to keep warm, and if you got too cold you'd... the image of Amaya fainting in the mud out in the forest was certainly not one he wanted to keep in his head. What would've happened if he wasn't there to carry her back? Would her whole body freeze all animation, or would she be able to make it back to camp herself? He shook his head, not wanting to think about it. At least he knew that the weather was nice. Maybe he'd finally get some time to pick up his surfboard again!

"The date?" He was slightly taken aback at the seemingly random question, "Uhh... gosh I've lost track. I think that it's about early March, like the third or something." He stopped, counting over the days that had passed so quickly. "Why do you ask?"

"March already? ... Wow." Time seemed to loose it's meaning when you lived on the island, no news or television to keep you up to date. "I just sort of lost track of the date ever since I got here. Time doesn't seem to exist, y'know?" Amaya said, her scaley shoulders giving a tiny shrug.
PostPosted: Thu Mar 02, 2006 7:11 pm

"Yeah, it makes sense though. I can already see it happening to me. I've nearly lost count of how many days have passed since I first got here." It was surprisingly easy to forget about things like the date when you didn't have anything better to do. No appointments, no events... nothing worked like clockwork. Maybe things would change once, and if, the duplexes opened up.

Rex sighed, things in his life had gotten a whole lot more complicated and easier at the same time.

"Yeah..." The girl trailed off, her eyelids starting to get heavy but then snapped back open as something occured to her.

"If I... go to sleep, will you... still be here?" She looked up at him, for once not pulling away from his gaze. He seemed like a nice enough guy... but when it came down to it, would he really stay with her until the rain stopped? She had to be the one of the worst looking people on the island by now, even though she had no idea what she really looked like.
PostPosted: Thu Mar 02, 2006 7:21 pm

"If you want me to stay, I'll stay." Rex said calmly, He smiled and also locked eyes. "Right now, you are in need of someone more than anyone else on the island." He pulled her closer to cover her more, more heat for the girl. At least she was concious and functioning well as far as Rex could tell. He remembered laying with Antony in her camp site, also huddling together for warmth, it seemed like a trend lately.

Amaya gave a sad smile, somehow looking like the same girl that had first arrived on the island. She snuggled into him and got comfortable before closing her eyes.

It didn't take her long before she drifted to a rather fitful slumber.
