Elzo hated waiting, and as Audrey talked to the boy, the elder Xanis got impatient. A few minutes passed and then, lifting her back up, a grin split wide as the clock was close to striking midnight. "It's almost midnight." He lifted her up, careful about her leg. "I said I wanted a dance didn't I?" It was slightly funny to watch, Elzo pulling Audrey with her leg bound up onto the dance floor. If was even more funny as he held her pinned to him, letting her feet rest on his as he moved to the music. She couldn't dance, but he could dance for her. The most humorous part? Marlo had snapped out of his Jada induced haze long enough to smile. Elzo's hand was on her waist, not her a**. For him, this was a great improvement. As the music ended, Elzo had danced his way to the large doors to outside. Arms still pinned Audrey to him. "Need a breath of fresh air?" Something mischievous was in his eyes. She might have had an idea to what kind of look he was giving her. It was the same look he gave her at the night club.
***
Marlo was in shock. It lasted until Jada was out of sight. At which part, he snapped out of it. And then looked at his friends. "Uh..." His face was beet red. Eyes were the size of saucers. "I have to go...someplace...for...a thing." He was edging his was to another outdoor exit. "Yes um...a thing that needs doing..." That sounded wrong. "Excuse me." Marlo whipped around and dashed out, to where, one could guess.

Though charmed by her boy companion, it was impossible to put Elzo off when he wanted something. The Hillworth student was used to generally having what he wanted when it came to girls, and for the most part, she wasn't interested in disobliging him. A dance was a dance after all, and who else could the teen trust to understand how absolutely abysmal of a dancer she was? So it was with only minor reluctance that she let him lead her onto the dance floor for one of the last dances of the night.
It was familiar and not all at once, their previous forays into dancing and the night before had warped and shaped their friend zone into something that had become confining, almost strangling. She had waltzed with him before like this, after clumsy feet had prevented a useful lesson and he had shown, rather than tried to tell her how to properly do the steps. Now her leg prevented any real improvement, but it was all immaterial. It seemed almost as if he couldn't, wouldn't, accept any other sort of dance in any other position. One strong hand pressed into the small of her back, keeping her body all but pinned against his. It gave the waltz a whole new meaning, and Audrey found herself blushing lightly as her gold eyes looked up into the twinkling Xanis blue.
Was it wise, to be alone with a boy who looked at you like that? She wasn't so naive as to believe that there were no dishonorable intentions. After all, she'd given Khal that selfsame look once upon a time, before they'd ditched the stage at Barren Pines to sneak off into the shadows. And why was it a bad thing, that someone else would be interested? Audrey had been fighting the idea that she was unattractive, worthless, useless for quite some time and it was becoming almost a second nature to ponder over her looks almost vainly. Tonight, with diamonds in her ears and at her throat, in a lovely gown and her sleek twist of curls, she was beautiful. Audrey Collins felt beautiful.
"A few breaths, maybe somewhere quiet? I admit, the crowd is getting to be a bit much." Against her will, the blush rose, though her eyes looked back almost slyly at Elzo's. They said, clearly, 'I know what you're up to. Let's play.'

It was only a few minutes past 1:00 in the morning when the winners of the various auctions were announced. Szelem climbed to the dais, a list in her hands, and read off each lot first by item, then either the number or the name of the winner. It depended on what they wanted.
Azzo's grandmother had won some small prize she'd desired, for a modest cost; Iva Novette-Naim had won a small prize as well. all of the winners were read off with beaming smiles and thanks; all until she got to the last. "And the last of the lots, a dinner with the debu-" she froze, staring at the paper. "Ah, forgive me." she had a distinctive lack of composure for just a moment.
The little pauper had won the dinner? Ah, no. Fallon Novette-Naim had won the dinner, and granted it to Marlo in her own place. Well, that was her decision, as much as it galled Szelem. "The winner of the dinner with Jada Chamberlyn is Mr. Marlo Xanis." she rolled up the paper, smiling her tight smile. "Now, do enjoy the rest of your evening, ladies and gentlemen, as the wine and the dancing begins to slow."

"I think that's probably a safe assumption" -She smiled.. and it was almost playful in response to his words. She probably couldn't have been a mother's girl.. having lost hers so early. But it hadn't simply been the fact of being the only parent that had made Aurora such a daddy's girl. He was her role model of men, of the grand thing that one day silly little boys magically turned into. And he'd spoiled her, the only little girl of the family, even perhaps over protected her. It was true.. when she'd seen Armagedon years ago in her youth she'd recalled being horribly distraught that the father had switched places with the boyfriend. She'd rather have her father. Even now.. even now she'd probably make that choice.-
"Money isn't everything" -She insisted with a smile. Really she had no business saying it, never having had to want for anything before. As much as money didn't matter to her.. she failed to connect the pieces of how many times a day she flashed a little money here or there to get something. Naive.
The song dwindled to it's end notes and Aurora paused, fingers still laced in the hand Azzo had used to lead with. Mrs Chamberlyn came forward to announce the auction. She hadn't won anything, but atleast she'd helped to raise the prices a little with a couple bids earlier in the evening. Azzo's grandmother had won though, she squeezed his hand lightly.- "Perhaps we should gather your grandmother and go? Wouldn't want to overstay our welcome"

Serenade had probably expected that Lucas had been busy dancing with other ladies, but nevertheless wasn't exactly surprised when the adorable little boy returned to claim that second dance with her. "Of course." She told him with a smile, giving a nod to Elke as she took the boy's hand and was led to the dance floor.

Azzo nodded, with a chuckle, "It must be nice." He said softly, "To have a father like that."
He nodded softly, "Indeed, I'd just rather her be comfortable." He said softly. When the music stopped he he looked around to see Szelem, with the auction papers. His head tilted when she said his Grams had won something.
His brows lofted, looking back at Aurora. "Oh dear." He said softly then smiled to show he was joking, he nodded, "Yes, lets go get grams. Do you have a way back to crystal?" He asked as he offered his arm so they could walk off the dance floor.

Upstairs, his oldest sister was being choked out by her stalker. Upstairs, Zora and Kayley were griping at each other as they pulled on their nightclothes under the watchful eye of Nanny. On the dais, Michael was firming his decision that he was going to divorce the woman he loved because he couldn't take it anymore. On the dais, Szelem Chamberlyn was really, really hating Jada's friends.
But on the floor of the ballroom, in the middle of a dwindling crowd, an exhausted-looking Lucas was beaming at his lovely dance partner, guiding her through the steps of an intricate little dance. "I'm sorry it took me so long to find you." he beamed up at Serenade. "Thank you for staying until I could claim my second dance with you." it made him feel ten feet tall, all the beautiful ladies he'd danced with.
He hadn't gotten to talk to the other little boy again. Hopefully he had found cause to enjoy himself as much as Lucas had.

Seth observed the entire proceeding - Jada's refusal, Szelem's indignation - and with a quirk of an eyebrow when Szelem directed her gaze towards him. He wasn't exactly the image of propriety or savior, when he was there eating his food with his escort beside him. How exactly, how he gotten dragged into this mess?
But he hadn't intervened. And he had continued to eat. Mainly because he wasn't the one meant to intervene. And so, silence ensued. And then defeat, as Szelem led Jada away. There was an aggravated sigh from Seth, wondering if all high school boys were this inept?
As he left, Seth could only assume that he was amending his mistake. There wasn't much time left in this ball anyways.
"Did you want anything from the food table?" He thought to ask Eve afterwards, as if nothing had just happened.

((This will be Esen's exit post.))
Responding to Melody took her a bit of thought. She only shook her head no. Another few minutes after, she spoke. "I'm only still here because I already came." Esen's eyes blinked in a deliberate slow motion, seemingly watching the night lull to an end. In reality, she was trying to clear her head and take it out of where she was sitting.
"Oh, right. Melody, I won't be going back to the dorms tonight. I figured I'd best tell you ahead so you don't worry." The voice was becoming heavier, much like someone was telling you a dark secret from their past. A shake on her shoulder by Rica snapped her out of her moment as they listened to the announcement of winners. Neither heard any mention of a Saylor in the announcement; Esen's response was to shrug. "Wasn't expecting anything anyhow," she spoke. Turning her green-haired head toward Melody as she got up from her seat, Esen gave a nod. "I'll see you tomorrow, or at least before school starts on Monday." Off she went toward the way out.
Rica was left sitting there. "I'm sorry, Melody, she's a bit like that... I should go too, seeing as she'd have no ride otherwise." The smile given to Melody was a bit apologetic. "I guess we'll meet again sometime?" Rica spoke as a statement as she, also, got up and left. A small wave, and both of the Saylors were on their leave.

"O-oh," she replied, a bit confused to what Esen meant but thought nothing of it really. Especially when the green haired girl told her she wouldn't be going back to the dorms. Melody wasn't all that surprised, though she was a bit sad that she'd be alone that night.
"Thank you for telling me~ I hope to see you tomorrow!" And then Esen was gone rather abruptly and she frowned a bit. Why did it seem there was always distance between them?
Brown glanced up as her roommate's mother spoke and she smiled. "It's all right, maybe one day she won't always be like that." Though she couldn't help wonder what she meant by "that". Waving back, the blonde sighed and wondered what there was left for her.
All her friends seemed to be gone or wrapping things up with others, not that she had many to begin with, and with the part coming to a close there was no chance to go and enjoy the outside. Well with her mother still chatting...
Lifting her skirts Melody moved for the gardens to wait for her mother, eyes finding the stars in the sky. She'd always had a small place in her heart for the stars and moon in the sky but she never knew why. Well, she knew now it seemed.
"Con gái, là bạn sẵn sàng để đi?" came the semi-husky voice of her mother who had no qualms about speaking in her native tongue in public. Something that, despite her issues with her mother, was actually a source of comfort for the tan girl.
"Yes mẹ." Smiling she moved to her mother's side and the two of them moved to leave the party.
Climbing into the limo, Melody waited until her mother was comfortable to curl up on the seat with her head in the elder woman's lap. Linh smiled and toyed with her daughter's curls as they headed for home.
"Would you like to stay at home tonight, Melody?"
She was silent, thinking. Stay at home in the presence of her family or sleep alone in an empty dorm room? So used to Esen's company it would be weird... "That would be nice~" And in the morning she could tell her papa all about the wonderful party.
