"Top bunk," Lin didn't even have to think about it.

Not that Lin had yet noticed she was slowly gaining her mother's love of heights. There was a reason why Kara always liked being in high places, it seemed to be in the blood.

She sent down her bag and immediately rummaged around for her weapons. She didn't expect any trouble for their first night but she thought she should start thinking about at least carrying around her knives regularly.

Though Lin seriously doubted there would be pirates on this trip. She stretched out her wings slightly sending her butterflies to scamper wherever they would like to perch.

Whisper slipped in the door, and upon hearing Lin claim the top bunk she made a dash for the bottom bunk, where she curled up, tucked her wings, and promptly fell asleep.

Rhea laughed. "She'll get over it eventually," she grinned, setting her bag down and taking out her staff as well. She set it aside, and then pulled out her other weapons - sword and dagger - and then she began placing them all in the case, using the hooks that had been provided.

"It's hard to believe that just this morning we were so many miles away from here," she smiled as she worked. "I didn't know it was possible to travel so far in a single day."

"It is," Lin replied, "Though back home it would be in devices called cars."

She hung her sword, her bow and arrows and her fighting knives before going to unpack anything else. Lin really did she had throwing knives but it had struck her as overkill to have them after everything else.

"But it's a Gaian thing and this is my first time being on a ship, and I didn't realize they went that fast."

Rhea smiled. "I would imagine Roydon might have had something to do with that," she murmured as she began to unpack her clothes into one of the dressers. "He is a wind controller. I imagine he finds it quite useful for sailing. I've never felt a wind as strong as the one that brought us here. Even in a storm."

Lin looked up thoughtfully, she didn't know what was normal but she did admit that was a strong wind.

"I didn't know Roydon was a wind element," Lin murmured, "Then again I never asked him about his gift."

It sort of brought her mind back to an old conversation with a particular lord about how gifts could also appear if needed. It was certainly a useful gift to have not only for someone who made ships but planned on sailing.

"It makes sense though...."

It sort of made her wonder what Leyenda's secondary gift was.

Rhea smiled. "Most people don't mind when you ask, it really isn't a big deal," she told Lin honestly. "I mean, everyone has magic, so when you ask what type, it isn't really a personal question."

She sorted through her clothes, putting them into different drawers, and then she looked around a bit. "Ah," she murmured, pulling her cloak from her bag and heading towards the bunks. "There are hooks here for our cloaks. Much easier than putting them in drawers."

This was true, Lin just never saw a reason to ask when everyone had magic anyways. Then again this was probably the result of partly growing up in Gaia as well.

"It just never occurred to me to ask."

Pulling out her own cloak she put it on the hook, looks were much easier than jackets or coats. It was no wonder she thought why her mother preferred them. She rummaged around a bit more in her bag putting the clothes she was less likely to use on the bottom, such Helen's just-in-case nice clothes and kimono, and the clothes she knew for certain she would use on top.

Though she also needed to put really weather specific clothes in a different drawer like the really light clothes that she had been using traveling in the Southland, and the really heavy clothes in case of colder climes.

"Helen was really good about making the alterations quickly," Lin murmured to herself.

Rhea glanced over at Lin. "Helen, your brother?" she asked. "He's the one who makes your clothes, right?"

She moved to the little shelf next to the bed and began to unpack her few books. She didn't have many, only about five, and the rest of them were blank journals waiting to be filled. Then she moved to one of the desks and began unpacking sheets of paper, bottles of ink, quills, and a knife for sharpening her quills.

"Yea," Lin replied.

Lin's extra things weren't that different, she also had sheets of paper, but she only had three fountain pens (in case two of them broke) and enough cartilages to last a good few years.

"When I first sprouted wings I was afraid he was going to use it as an excuse to redo my wardrobe, until I found out he used the trip as an excuse to redo my wardrobe."

Lin took out her blank journals and one photo album that had come from a friend. She remembered the first time she saw a camera, she had decided a long time ago she didn't like the flashing light on them.

Rhea laughed as she rummaged around in her bag. "Perhaps he was just looking for any excuse at all to replace your wardrobe," she teased, pulling out a sketch of her parents. It was in a wooden frame that looked like Ulrich's handiwork, and she placed in on one corner of her desk. Then she pulled out a second frame with a sketch of her entire family: her parents, herself, Whisper, and Cindy. She had long ago decided that Cindy was family, even though she knew they didn't share any blood.

"Something like you, I think," she smiled over at Lin. "You, I think, would take any excuse to come to our world. You don't need an event like a hunt or lessons."

Lin chuckled at that, that was true Lin would come whenever she could, but lessons or a hunt gave her an excuse back when she was too young to go as she pleased.

"Yes, but before I was young, I needed excuses like a hunt or lessons to go, becoming an adult allowed me to freedom to just go with a warning instead of asking for permission."

She pulled out her small chest and wondered where she was going to put it, she still had the padded box that held the tea set along with the compartment for tea. Silly Grandmother Mi she thought as she figured out where to put the chest, it wasn't like she was going to find a guy in a race bounded society out in the middle of nowhere.

"Besides I like being here."

Rhea grinned at Lin. "I don't blame you," she winked. "I like being here, too."

She opened her desk drawer and placed inside it her drawing pencils and blade sharpener, then placed her empty journals and loose sheets of paper into a lower drawer.

"Still," she added softly, "I know I'm old enough to make my own decisions, and to go where I like and such ... but I'm glad Mama and Papa gave me permission to come here. I don't think I would have come otherwise. I wouldn't want to do things against their wishes ..."

This was true, that doing things against the wishes of the parents wouldn't be nice. Lin finally decided it was safer to keep the boxes of things (they were small) into drawers so they wouldn't be banged around too much.

"This is true," Lin murmured, "But I wouldn't be happy living on clan grounds for the rest of my life."

Rhea glanced up at Lin as she pulled a blanket from her bag. "Would you want to settle in our world?" she asked, moving towards her bunk again. "Or would you settle somewhere else in your own world? Or travel between the two?"

Though she supposed it wasn't practical to travel forever, even for immortals. Even Daeron had expressed a wish to settle down eventually - once he found the right woman for him. Whenever that might end up being.

"Despite the time difference I think I would rather settle here," Lin replied thoughtfully.

As she was pulling out a quilt from her bag Lin continued.

"Here I can find familiarity without having to stay on clan grounds or within the circle of clans. I suppose I could always move away from the grounds and find a place similar which is possible but for some reason that doesn't really appeal to me."
