Masaki's eye propped open for a second before slamming shut once more. The sun was bright, he forgot that. He forgot a lot of things actually. The ground was hard. He vaguely remembered that. The wood pile he was laying in was heavy. The facts were coming back more quickly now. His arm hurt, and while he could feel some serious bruising he wasn't actually injured. A miracle. The basic facts had finally sorted themselves out in his mind, and he pushed further. why am I here? Oh yes, he had been in a completely unbalanced fight against the Mizukage. That wasn't enough though. Try as he might, the boy simply could not explain how he had ended up in the hallway of the Kirigakure training facility. At least he could recognize it. Perhaps the Mizukage somehow cushioned his landing? That didn't make sense.

The young boy sat up, and moved the wood pile off of him. He was not far from the entrance. As he stood up on his shaking feet he turned and made his way to the lobby. Two rooms down and he found himself staring at a young girl. She returned his glance and simply pointed. "That way, are you sure you want o train in that condition?"

Masaki smiled, and spat a tooth into the nearby trash-can. His butt had been handed to him no mistake, but he would not turn down training without at least two broken limbs. So he made his way down the hall until he heard some form of training going on. Someone was giving a lecture in one of the rooms. Masaki slid into the room quietly and bowed to Kaizen. He hated such nonsense, but the promise of training was well worth it. He made sure the bow was a deep one to apologize for his interrupting as well as his lateness. He had no clue if he would even be welcome to this particular party.
The teacher was glowing, so Masaki couldn't tell who it was, but for all he knew glowing was the norm these days. He had no clue how long he had been out after all. He doubted anyone would bother to clean him up after all, he could have been laying there for weeks. Wouldn't he be hungry then?

As Masaki entered the training grounds, Kai looked towards him and shot the lad a smile before saying, "glad you could join us, now I'm not exactly sure what you've learned since the last time I offered you a bit of training, so you tell me what you want to learn and we'll get to work." Soon after Masaki entered, Kaizen was surprised to see yet another entering, though this man did not appear to be in need of training. Deciding to ignore the man for now, the wild-haired youth simply turned his attention back to Masaki and Kage and waited for either of them to speak.

"... but sometimes, the right choice isn't always clear."

Smiling Kaizen reached back into his bag of scrolls plucking out the scroll he had been looking over earlier. "That works out great actually, I was hoping to increase my repertoire with some more Doton ninjutsu as well. How about we try this one, it's called the Jihibiki Kansei no Jutsu, or Earth Tremor Sense Technique, and it allows the user to sense vibrations in the ground around them to read movements", Kaizen explained as he read over the jutsu.

Turning fully to Kage, smiled as he nodded his head in approval before saying, "Alright, good job, now try this." Lifting his hands in front of his chest, Kaizen performed a few hand-signs as his eyes shifted to the color of lightning splitting the night sky. "Raikou Bunshin no Jutsu", said the wild-haired youth, causing a surge of electricity to arc off of him towards his right. Where the electricity met the ground, a figure began to form, perfectly resembling Kaizen, down to his lightning colored eyes.

After showing Kage the technique, Kai turned away and knelt down, placing the tips of his fingers on the ground. As he began to channel chakra through his arm, Kaizen closed his now mahogany colored eyes in order to focus more on his sense of touch. As he spread his chakra into the ground though, nothing seemed to happen, his ability to detect movement not helped in any way. Drawing his hand back as he furrowed his brow, Kaizen cupped his chin with one hand as he tried to think of how he could perform the jutsu.[1/4 Jihibiki Kansei no Jutsu]

realizing he would get little help from his sensei Masaki frowned. What was he just thinking? Things were coming a little more freely to him now, though he still could not remember the fight with Luo. A doton jutsu must need doton chakra, if I could just do it by touching the ground I wouldn't need to learn it would I? He knelt once more and spread his fingertips on the ground and concentrated. It took him a moment to remember the feel of his doton chakra without the mokuton, and this he knew was because he should have learned more doton before attempting the hybrid. It occured to him that he still didn't quite know how he used Mokuton, all he could say for sure was that he could. Somewhat like moving your fingers without realizing you were sending electric signals to your muscles which then pulled on tendons which... He knocked his head to bring him back to work. He hadn't realized he payed attention in school.
Doton chakra flowed through his fingertips and into the ground. Dust rolled across the surface, but in the end nothing happened. With a frown he considered the problem. The chakra wasn't really doing anything, he knew from precious jutsu he had learned that chakra was normally molded to a purpose. When someone walked on a floor you could feel the vibrations, so perhaps there were even vibrations in the earth itself? Then again, the earth is pretty solid... It was something, Masaki tapped the ground as he thought.

Matsuya walked into the building and nodded to a few shinobi training there. His mind was clouded with the fact that Kai hadn't contacted him since Iwa had disbanded. But then again, Matsuya hadn't talked to her since his return a few months ago. So, maybe it was his fault. Regardless, he'd track her down and make sure she was safe. That was his duty both as the leader of their clan and as her older cousin. Maybe this kid, Gage, would provide him with the answers he wanted. And the fact that Luo wanted him to test the kid gave Matsuya his reason to get it out of him. In the meantime, Matsuya waited for Gage, leaning against the wall. His silver hair would stick out anywhere, that and the tattoos wrapping down his forearms and wrist. That, was the test Matsuya was planing to use first: his tattoos. If Gage knew Kai, he would recognize the style of the tattoos.

Matsuya raised his eyebrows again as Gage pointed out the tattoos spiraling down his arms. Maybe the kid had potential after all. "My tattoos? Well, let me tell you." Matsuya folded his arms and started pacing the floor in front of Gage. "I got these tattoos when I was about, eh...about 15 I think. They're to mark that I achieved the second stage of my clan and can access the abilities that go with it. And then, I got them expanded to my back about 4 years ago, when I became both the Hokage and the head of my family. You see, I'm a proud Nara, but not in name." Matsuya turned and unfolded his arms, letting them hang by his sides instead. Now, he had to make sure if the boy really was from Iwa and knew his cousin. "But, if you really are from Iwa, I'm going to assume you've seen someone else with these, eh? Perhaps a spunky pink haired, little kunoichi?" Matsuya had no choice but to reveal his identity now. He'd already said too much, but if the boy really wanted to join Kiri, he'd be sworn to secrecy soon enough. And then, perhaps Matsuya would have an asset to use in his information brokering business.
