smiling she rested her foread agianst his neck, musing. " i thought you were a jerk the first time we met, at least i did at first. i do regret that." she couldnt imagine careing so much for someone else, yet she couldnt lie to herself.. she did care, as odd as it was. Stefan misted into the gardens and very far away from the others before turning into a solid form as he placed Sophia softly on the grass. "Go on and wonder around. I will protect you. Just don't go over to the other people. They need their moment." He smiled and laid down in the grass, sticking his legs out and crossing them at the ankle while propping himself up on one elbow.

Lanius smiled softly, his dark eyes opening and gazing at her. "Yes... I feel very much the same, Ash." Wilting flowers always hold such a sweeter scent than those in bloom. "However... by thinking I was a jerk, you were too kind, not thinking worse." He chuckled, and said, "Oh, Ash, I am worse... however, I promised that I would not be cruel to you. So, whatever I am, it doesn't matter, if either of us are anything at all. It is better to be nothing than to be mislabled, unless that is your own deepest desire."

" I dont care what you do, Lanius, im not a saint or a sinner.. but i feel my place is at your side, even if its only for a time." looking down she lifted his hand, placing it over her heart as she met his gaze again. " i am giving you this, i dont expect the same in return but i will always hope. just.. dont break it, ok?"
She was moving the moment his instructions were done, ziping to the nearest tree to feel its bark.. her expression awed. a movement caught her eye and she looked down at a catapiller, her eyes going wide as she poked at it. " it is.. fuzzy?"

Stefan chuckled. "Some are, some aren't." He stood up and walked over to her. He put his palm out and the catapiller inched its way onto his hand. "Hold out your hand like mine is."

He could feel her heartbeat... again, it was strange to him... the only time he ever felt any heartbeat other than his own was to check if someone was alive or dead. She was clearly alive. His heart beat slower than hers... but about every second or third beat, they were in the same rythm. "Ash, I won't break your heart, nor will I allow anyone to keep it from beating... this is an amendment to my pledge to you." Lanius did not know if he could keep these amendments, however... he would always keep the pledge not to inflict the kind of cruelity upon her that he had done so to so many others. She would be kept safe from this, if nothing else. Standing up, he put back on his top hat and offered her his hand, "Would you like to walk around some more, before we leave for dinner?"

nodding curtly she took his hand, allowing him to help her up as she studied his face.. slightly shocked that she had his features so memorized. she was acting like.. well..
Sophia placed her hand next to his, watching the little grub as it crept its way onto her hand. it was cute.. until it touched her. the moment she felt its tickling feet touch her she made a low yelping sound, struggling to hold still against the odd feeling.

" A love struck fool?" Tane offered, standing in the path with his arms folded over his chest. he was a intimidating sight, demonic eyes centered on the pair with barly leashed temper rolling off of him in waves. his eyes narrowed slightly, body tense as he asked too softly. " did i'na teach you better, Ashley? Your Beau not know better?" as was in his time, he insisted the girls atleast have their favored men come ask for his permission to take them out.. he was very stuck in his ways.

Stefan chuckled and made sure the tiny creature was in the middle of her hand. "It does feel funny, but at least it inches. Some things like this crawl and that isn't a good feeling."

Lanius' eyes moved over to look at him, although his face remained quite the same. After helping Ash up, Lanius turned to face the man and took off his top hat, bowing like a proper gentleman, as he always did. "Lanius Neco-Inclementia, I am pleased to make your aquatiance." He kept his dark empty eyes on Tane as he said this, and standing back up, placed his hat back on. Lanius was not the least bit intimidated by him, he was not with anyone... if he had ever been intimidated in his life, Lanius had certainly never showed it, or allowed it to have anything to do with the course of actions he took.

With easy movements Ash slid her arm around Lanius', not infront or behind him.. simply at his side. meeting her fathers gaze she said calmly in ancient Galic. " I have chosen my path.." then switched to English. " Accept this, or walk away.. i love you Papa but not enough to let this end."
wrinkling her nose she shook her head, seeming a bit more aware as she murmered. " Spiders.. this is not a spider, i would be afraid." Saku had been afraid of spiders.

Stefan swallowed a laugh and nodded. "Spiders are pretty bad. I've seen one about as big as my head. Hardest thing to kill in my life. Hate spiders." He gently picked up the worm and placed it on a leaf on the tree. "When these grow up, they turn into things with wings. They call them butterflies." Just as he finished his sentence a white butterfly landed on the trunk of the tree they were standing next to.

He visibly froze, his expression flicking to agony before he gritted his teeth.. inclinging his jaw every so slightly as he pushed his oppinions out of the way, studying Ash's mind instead of his own. " So i see." she cared for Lanius, and aggrivated or no.. He himself fallowed this man's views when he was in power. exhaleing slowly he pushed a hand through his hair, closeing one eye and studying them with the other almost boredly. " i respect you enough, Neco-Inclementia, to not stand in my daughters way.. she needs someone to make her happy." and he couldnt do that. they were too alike, butting heads at every turn. pulling a cig from his jacket pocket and strikeing a match, inhaleing in a relaxed manner before sighing smoke. " but im insisting on a talk with you, boy.. when we both have time."

Lanius nodded, and bowing again said, "Yes, of course... it would be my pleasure." Standing back up, he did not wish to be rude and delay dinner, however... he was almost curious if it would be best to speak with the father then. It was whatever Ash felt was best for him to do.

leaning against his side slightly Ash studied her father, trying to judge if he was being honest. she loved him, yes.. but even she knew he could be a b*****d when it suited him. but.. it did not feel as if he were lying. sliding her arm around Lanius's waist she nudged at him with her hip, saying softly as she encouraged Lanius to retreat with her. " .. thank you, dad, but we need to go. tell Alhena hi for me."
