Kal was surprised by the intellect that came from Tjaden. "True. Maybe Lady Luck smiles upon us this night," he said aloud. He began heading towards the campfire circle. "Though, with the observation of moving things in the nearby area, our luck may be quite fickle," he added. He hoped he wasn't being intrusive, just trying to add his own observations.

Through the discussion that had been going on Erron kept his thoughts to himself, they could be dealing with any number of creatures or humanoids and they wouldn't know until they found some clue of where they had gone. He spotted Prometheus communicating with the nearby trees and assumed that if there was any way they were going to get a positive answer on any subject of the attack, it would be through the observations of nature.
He then spoke "If we end up fighting at night Prometheus, Tjaden and Laren have the best advantages as they can see well in badly lighted areas...can't you? Perhaps we should be ready to pair up in case we get drawn into a situation where we have to fight in the darkness...."

((Kai is completely correct, purest; there's no indication that these footprints belong to specifically orcs, ogres, trolls, cyclops or other giantkin.))

Selce nodded at the wisdom in Erron's words. "If only I had listened to my master better, I would know the spell to do such a trick as that." She said a bit glumly. Her thoughts turned inward yet again to the day she had been taken. 'Has my master been killed? Does he think I ran away?' She asked herself but had to let it go as the unknown. "If the fires keep up, and the wagons in a tight circle we should be fine, but just in case maybe the pairs?" She wondered aloud.

((Would a halfling thief be able to see well in the dark? Or am I just crazy?)) Kal nodded, agreeing with the pairs idea. He wondered who would be placed with him. That worried him. He worried that he be placed alone without a partner, but he didn't show the worry. It was against thief's habits to show weakness, especially emotionally.

((You said they were large, orc footprints are typically human sized and most things that are large and still smart enough, at least under direction, to take their dead with them are giantkin. At least not counting the mighty dragons who are normally solitary foes))
Laren couldn't help but chuckle at the Orc's grim humor as he handed her a a bowl and she nodded in agreement as the others added to the conversation, "Being in pairs does seem to be the safest way of doing this, but I suggest those of us that can see pair with someone that can't, that way we may guide them as to where or foes are."

Tonas The only hint of the enemy who had done this was the large amount of slightly-oversized footprints in the area. (("slightly oversized", meaning varying from humanoid footprints to smaller giantkin))

Ninja Zackeus ((Would a halfling thief be able to see well in the dark? Or am I just crazy?)) (Its a racial trait, not a class trait) Erron waited to hear the suggestions how how they should pair up. "Well of course we don't have to break off into pairs if we can fight all together."

((Im not entirely sure what racial traits we have beyond my bezerker rage, so I don't know if Orcs have dark or low-light vision.))
Tjaden's guttural laugh intoned what more civilized folk would call sarcasm. "If we do end up separated, it is likely not to be by our devising. However, in the case of such an event, I would propose that each of us that can see in the dark make it our responsibility to seek out one of us who does not, that way there is no need to find any specific person so long as we can account for one ally between us." Tjaden set down his bowl and began unstrapping his armour. As he looped one buckle out, he spoke again. "After all, it is often said that no battle plans survive contact with the enemy...."
Tjaden was not technically gifted, nor was he a terribly suave character. Sure he was personable in his own way, but he had dedicated his life to spirituality and the study of war. Thus, when it came up to discussing battle plans, Tjaden's enthusiasm was spurred onward by his need to prove himself useful. He knew there would come a time when his input would not be required.
Tjaden stood up to pull the breastplate over is head, placing it beside him. He slung his shield around it and let it stand. When he sat back down, he was once again in plan, simple clothing, carrying nought but a sword.

"I'll take the first watch with our dwarven friends here, everyone, please get your rest," Phineas called to everyone in the caravan,"After our shift ends, our full-time guards will watch for us."
With that, Phineas disappeared out of sight, followed by his dwarven entourage. You will not have to keep watch until the first light of morning.
You should rest now, the road ahead beckons.

Kal lays on the ground, placing his robe over him like a cover, he lays down and falls asleep. The ground wasn't the softest pillow, but he'd been sleeping like this since he was born. Rather it be in a sewer or in an alleyway. He would sleep quitely throughout the night, getting every wink of sleep he could.

Erron sets a blanket on the ground and stretches out against a wagon wheel, he eases into a light sleep: enough to rest but not so much as to fall into slumber from which is would be difficult to wake.
