anyway, when I was in high school, i was band kid but I still wore tight pants and did my hair up all cool. I was that punk band kid that hung out in the band director's office where we all talked s**t about the really annoying kids.
and by "we all" I mean it was ALL the cliques in one room laughing at the bad players and funny vids on youtube.
It was so diverse, my best friend was another trombone player that dressed and acted like a typical nerd.

@ Twi: You think I don't know what it's like to be descriminated against for being born into a certain Ethnic backround?- Black people aren't the only ones who have suffered that blow, so don't give me that. It's just how I think. Hate me for it? Fine. I don't care about what you think of me. It's just what I think. I never said you had to like it at all.

@ Skotti: At my old Highschool I was the first bass guitar player for the school band. I asked the music teacher, during my Sophmore year, if we could spice up the band a little bit because clearly the way it was now just seemed rather over played. Sadly, though, they never made it to Nationals that year. I was so upset by it.

No more ******** politics guys, this is not the place for that, DROP IT
or I will lock the thread for everybody.

I was the bass player for my last two years of high school, but only in the jazz band, I played trombone in marching.
and now I major music! I don't know what I would have done without band.

I used to be terrified of joining the Marching Band, because a year before I started High School one of the "Band Geeks" got the s**t kicked out of him on the field because one of the jock straps (Mike O'Hara, star quarterback at the time) found out his girlfriend (who was a band geek at the time, too) was cheating on him with the Clarinet player. I lul'd when I found out about it, but it also made me stay away from Marching Band.

well, it is a general rule of thumb not to date a football players girlfriend if you can't defend yourself. In fact, don't date anybody else's girlfriend at all.

Oh, you know how youth can be. A lot of guys in High School hardly ever followed that rule (sadly I used to be one of those guys. Until I met Alison of course).

Yay band stories!

I was in the Pit of the Drumline. I came in scared and lonley into a marching band pushing 150 members! Left with confidence and loads of friends and now when I go back to be the weird alumni during Band camp I get tackled by my underclassmen friends! OH BAND CAMP! Though as they graduate so does that...

I used to hang around the guitars actually since they were in the pit area. A lot of my friends could play but I sticked to mallets. No good at strings xd

The band dominated the high school and it had influence everywhere. The football team even gave their respect. Band Geek was a privilege!

So many band couples and good portion are still going after a couple years after graduation xd

Though I loved band during High School I opt out of it for college.

what times do you guys usually get on anyway? (bare in mind, i'm on the East Coast).
PostPosted: Fri Sep 11, 2009 9:48 am

Lets see, it REALLY depends on what day, if it's Tuesday or Thursday I am on like ALL day from like 8:00am to at the most 6:00pm, I have a lot of free time at work, hehe.
I am usually on ALL the time tho, my schedule allows for a lot of gaia time.

NOw you see I have classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays that I only could come on maybe around noon then but then I go.

I have been able to get on around 10 but after one would kill me eventually.

Skotti where do you get your art? All of them have been so awesome!

I have drawn my past stuff, but the art I have now was drawn by a newbie named Amaya Murahashi
and it is AWESOME

@ Twi: It depends on too many factors, but generally anywhere from 2-9PM, on weekdays, no HW, etc. On weekends, it's whenever until 9 or 10 PM. (so that'd be...kinda late for your time zone? Mine is the same time zone that Gaia's staff run on: PST.)

@ Skotti: Nice find. Your previous stuff is cool too.
