That would make sense... so us year-round rpers just have to find new rp buddies for each part of the year XD
Sounds difficult...

Oh by the way, I have wireless at dad's house now, so I'll be online more during the weekends. =]

I agree Naro, I just got into it less than a year ago, and now I'm addicted to RPing. My RP buddies are mostly three hours behind me on time.

Is this thread still on topic?
I have new stuff to grumble about. :/
So I just started a role-play with an old friend of mine, much against my better judgment. I know she's a nice girl, but we have historically failed as role-play partners, strictly because my OCs- rugged, vicious, antagonistic men- do not mesh entertainingly with her OCs- super powerful but nice to a fault beauty queens. It always ends the same way, which is in some reluctant and nauseating romance that my characters constantly jeopardize with their bristly unfriendly ways, and hers always overcome with loving, passive forgiveness.
The problem, on top of the extreme futility of my OC's cruelty [honestly, conflict NEVER occurs, just occasional angst/attention whoring on her part] her characters are all mary-sues. Stunningly beautiful, strong, experts at some unique fighting/magic, often better than my OC at whatever he does, with flawless sweet and tolerating personalities. And you know, godly characters can be fun, when they aren't also magnanimous and fawning. If they actually used these "superior powers" to fight with my OC, it would be at least entertaining, or if they had a spitfire temper that could clash with my guys'. But...Nope.
So our stories continue to wobble, boring and going no where as I try to refuse romance and she tries to refuse conflict. We've JUST begun a steam punk 1x1 with each other, and I already feel no desire to post there. And she assured me when we started this that her OC would be different this time, harsher and more willing to fight. -shrug- No such luck, she's just as dully impervious as ever.
Reminds me of that quote from Knocked Up: "You just looked at me with that blank stare of yours - it was like talking to a wax statue."
So far, it seriously is like my character is talking to a wax statue, with big awesome tits and perfect beauty and an incredible list of credentials that are basically impossible. :/
Whatev. u_u -rant-

XD It's close to on topic =3
what you two need is a third member. Someone to, not only form a love triangle, but a constant battle between the characters =D.
Needs to be female, hates goody goodies, and acts kinda like Alie sometimes (If you know Alie, you'll get what I'm saying XD)
But yea... there are some people you just can't 1 on 1 with... I have the same problem with my best friend and this site we rp on together -.- he gets so upset about how I don't like 1 on 1 rping with him every day.
I sometimes take 5-6 months breaks and put up with his nagging constantly the entire time gonk it sucks...

I have, actually. So many times. We've had dozens of games, and eventually I just stop posting, and she whines and whines, and I finally confess that it wasn't entertaining because her characters are too perfect. And so she was like "hmmm, you would like this one though!" and I didn't believe her, but I unfortunately decided to give her an opportunity to prove me wrong. She didn't. :/ I'm going to try to stick it through for a few more days, but if it doesn't get more intense soon, it's just going to become another, and hopefully the last, of our failed games.
Naro - That's a good idea, actually. I know that I almost always prefer group games to 1x1. The problem is that she just doesn't like to. And one of her recent group games went in a direction she didn't want it to [her character was rejected by the male character she loved, and the guy went to some other, most likely more interesting girl character] and so she lost interest and isn't posting anymore. She has only one mode, I think. All love and peace and being an emotional healer. u_u
Yeah, same. She nagged at me for so long, months after our games died, and...augh. :/ It does suck.

You'd think that would be an indicator to her that her characters are a bit too over the top if they wind up rejected in the end. Besides, clinging to other characters isn't the only way to advance the plot. . . . well unless you're doing 1x1 RPs. I've never done one. I prefer the open world MMO type RPs. It means I can keep going even if I'm alone.

She sounds kinda lonely.. no offense to her or anything but you shouldn't get that upset over not getting the romance plot that you want... that kinda ruins the point of role playing.
Maybe if you convince her that 1 or 2 more people won't change anything or promise your character wont fall for any other girls (not that he'd fall for her either XD) she might agree to it? You could always try a guilt trip too >.> you know, "I keep trying these 1 on 1 rps because you want to, why can't we have just a couple more people in one?" that type of thing?

Yeah, it depends really. 1x1s can consist of more than just romance, it's all about having an interesting plot or premise, and interesting characters. I have had other 1x1 experiences that were so perfect, simply because of the fact that both characters themselves were not perfect. Open world MMO? I don't think I've heard of that before. What's that all about?
Naro- Yeah, really. Plus, having her character rejected IC is such a golden opportunity, but she just refuses to manifest any negative traits in her characters, like jealousy or anger. Instead it's kind of a dull, spiritless depression, and occasionally a life threatening loss of passion and interest, meant to make other characters drop everything and run to her aid. <_< So yeah, she might be lonely, she's definitely determined to have cuddly love affairs when my characters would rather keep at least 3 feet of space between themselves and her ladies.
And I'd like to. I've finally convinced her to let us use a forum instead of just instant messenger. But I figure it would just go the way it usually does with her. If someone else was involved, and if they were a more interesting character [which is likely, I can't see any character being any more uninteresting...] then mine would just pair up with that one [not romantically, but the attention would be focused wherever the interest and entertainment was coming from.] And she'd just be left to mope about being excluded.
But I'll see. Maybe I just have to push harder and see if she ever ends up reacting appropriately, or if she'll continue down the morally superior route.
Thanks for the advice, guys. :]

Suggest she post in one of the RP threads in Classes? That might help, OOC advise and all. Then it wouldn't' be coming from you, and the person advising her wouldn't feel bad about being blunt. (Meanness isn't cool though, 'be nice' is a repeated rule f this guild.)

Well it's difficult to put a name on it. Basically it's one of those guild wide single RPs with many topics as over world locations and settings. If there's enough people joining with interest in the back story they can divulge a few separate plots, but due to the requirement of self motivation to put something together they tend to have low chances for survival.
