Congrats on the washer. I know what you mean. I did that in my apartment when I was in college. It does smell and feel so much nicer 3nodding

I liked all of the "classic Drizzt", but when it got to the "Thousand Orcs" Trilogy, I was finally lost... I read the first 2 books of that set out of a sense of loyalty, but then when my husband got the 3rd I just read the prologue and then skipped to the final chapter to see who was still alive at the end...

It's like you said, it wasn't really original anymore. it was like Salvatore was just puking out a generic storyline with the name Drizzt inserted in blanks so he and TSR (Wizards if the Coast) could milk a few more dollars from the character. I don't really think of the new books when I think of Drizzt though.

My husband has kept reading them though, even though he gets more and more disappointed with each book... I kinda got into the Elminster books, but I didn't make it a point to stay on top of the books as they were released... They have gone the same direction by what I can tell... My husband is ready to quit reading the Realms books... I don't think I have read one since the 2nd in the '1000 orcs' series...

I kinda blame the direction that 4th edition went though, getting back to the wild and untamed element of things... They had to pretty much give all the faves overhauls didn't they...

... and yeah, there are allot of little Drizzt b*****d children made by people who aren't confident enough in their own creativity, but it happens with every epic character. You can't really be upset at the character. You just need to be a hard-a** DM like me, and point out the flaws of newbs playing character they read in books through the method of encounters... you kill off the character, and it does R.A., Drizzt, and your own sanity a favor all in one move. twisted

If there is anything that gets to me, it's the issue that some people want to munchkin out a character with the excuse that their favorite book character has this stuff, and they are wanting to make a character LIKE that... I am of the mind that NO character should be LIKE a character read about in a book. Maybe one or two similar qualities, but there are enough combos that there is no need to Xerox a book character... It's stupid, and those characters have a tendency to die when I am the DM... evil

Drizzt Do'Urden or something like that. A character from TSR publishing, now Wizards of the Coast. The books came out around the time that Advanced Dungeons and Dragons 2E hit big. The first three books in the streams of silver aren't bad reads, though you will notice where the characters are hugely based on if you have read any of the older fantasy books. They are still interesting enough to hold attention spans.

I don't like to double post, but I think you guys might get a kick out of this. I know I did.
