"That sounds good to me." She leaned back and placed her head on Aysu's tummy. She smiled as she listened to her heart beat and her breathing cuased her head to go up and down. She sighed as it was very relaxing. "I'm glad you are with me."

***

Woobie took his hands off her waist and thought about it. "I guess you are right." Woobie forgot about everything else, he was too happy to show her his talent. "Maybe another time?" He was a bit disappointed, but it wasn't really the place and time for this.

***

Cutter squeezed her hand and looked at how she started to shake. "It's ok, take a deep breath." He didn't want her to worry so he wanted to help her over this fear. "Just relax, know I'm here and so is your brother. We'll make sure no one bothers you."

Rais nodded as he listened to Cirofan. "Generally good." But overly good, like the ancient angels were? He couldn't be sure. This was going to take much consideration.

Rais saw the demon with the faun-toddler and frowned. They looked sweet enough, but he was a demon. He walked over to see them closer. "I'm Chieftain Rais from Laisidhiel, which is a floating tree, yes." He said to the other demons comment. "We are an ancient race." Did he really need to go into details with these pae'il?

He looked down at the small faun toddler and couldn't help but smile. He did love the young ones. It had been a while since he had seen so many. "How will you protect this child? If he wants to come back to his home will you deny him?" These were good questions to start.

Good, Noel didn't want to do anything else. Happily, Aysu just let herself relax on the bed, content to have Noel by her side and no more new worries, at least for the current moment. At Noel's speech again, Aysu, without opening her eyes, offered, "I'm glad you're with me too, Noel. I hope we stay like this forever."

Aysu didn't need to open her eyes. It was nice to just feel Noel's warmth by her side.

Texas lifted his head again to see Faroth nearly tripping over himself to come see the new baby in his arms, apparently a 'faun' from what he heard Kane remark to Magnus. The demonic listened to his coos and questioning and chuckled lightly, before looking back down at the dark faun toddler curled up in his arms. "Mm-hm. His name is Vangelis."

When Kane remarked on something that hadn't even come to his mind, the faerie gave him an odd glance, before continuing with what he had been planning to say. But, then, before he could even comment any further, 'Chieftan Rais of Laisidhiel' began going off the mouth. When he was done with his vague descriptions and condesending questions--Texas was the nicest person Magnus knew!--Magnus remarked, "You done being an snooty a** yet?"

...Guardians damn it. Criofan groaned, glaring at Magnus out of the corners of his eyes. This powerful man seemed to judge people by their entire race, so he needed Magnus to stop talking so he could keep up his good impression. After all, a man as powerful as Rais could make for a good ally in any further entanglements. However, instead of excusing Magnus' behavior, he instead kept his mouth shut entirely, assuming that Rais was far more interested in what Texas the Demonic had to say.

After all, Rais was asking Texas a bunch of rather odd questions.

Vangelis made the same giggly noises at Faroth, making grabby hands at him when he began to bounce. When Rais came over to join the group, however, Vangelis stopped giggling and stared up at the adult Faun, eyes wide in a vague sort of fascination. Not knowing how to react, he curled a little closer to Texas, hoping the big guy with wings who had made the funny noise that he copied would show him how to react to the big guy with brown things too.

"An ancient race? Like the naiads?" queried Texas, curious about the fauns himself. After all, he was holding one in his arms, and he figured it would be best for him to know everything he could about the fauns. He looked down at Vangelis and patted the little boy's head, hoping to relax the young one a bit, before he looked back up to Rais to deal with the two questions he had asked.

Well, here's to making a good impression. "In the same way any good parent would protect their child: with their life." It seemed that Texas had attached to the little thing rather quickly. Perhaps it was because he had held it before and after he was born, or perhaps it was how adorable he was, but either way, Texas was determined to be a good parent to his new-found toddler.

The second question was, admittedly, a bit odder. Would he let Vangelis come back to his home? Well, of course he would. He didn't realize that Rais was referencing the tree; Texas went by the saying that home was where the heart was, and he would hope that he would be a good enough parent that Vangelis would want to stay with him. "I would let him go to whatever home his heart takes him to."

Menelie
(( Good Lord I got behind. D: ))

The sisters went inside and put their picnic things away. The bread seems harder than usual to Elizabeth, who as usual says nothing.

"I feel odd," says Elizabeth to Amapola. "It's like something's changed."

"Don't be silly, Lizzie," says Amapola. She takes a sisterly glee in tormenting her smaller sibling with the nickname she'd always hated. "You're just cranky because you didn't sleep well. Go have a nap, you'll feel better."

Elizabeth isn't so convinced. "I'm going to have a look around town. Want to come?"

Elizabeth and Amapola leave their house and wander through the streets. Elizabeth's right--something does seem changed. Not that they'd really know, having mostly kept to their house and garden for many months. The large piece of parchment tacked up catches Elizabeth's eye first. Amapola has keen eyes as well, but interesting things are more likely to catch her attention, not subtleties that might be important.

"Amapola, look here," she says, nudging her sister's side and walking over to read it. "Relocated?" Immediately she looks around. The island doesn't seem any different. Perhaps a trip to the beach would clear some things up. At least maybe she'd be able to find someone else who knew more than she did.

Amapola frowns at the poster. "How odd," she says. "I wonder what prompted them to do that?" she wonders aloud. "Well, clearly they knew what they were doing, so let's--Elizabeth, where are you going?"

((Someone please RP with me at the beach! If you'd do me a favor and shoot me a PM if you've posted a response I'd appreciate it. I check Gaia multiple times a day, but not every thread I've posted in.))

((*chuckles* I got a couple Pae still free. wink ))

Down by the water, a pair of Fae stared out at the lake, each lost in their own thoughts. Finally, the teen female shook out of her mental reverie and crossed to the male sitting in the sand. "Papa?"

Cabel blinked a few times, shaking his head, then looking up at his adopted daughter. "Eudora? I'm sorry, was I daydreaming again?"

Smiling sadly, Eudora chuckled and took a seat in the sand next to Cabel. "Yeah, you were a million miles away again." She rested her head on his shoulder. "You know, we were supposed to be trying to figure out what's going on with the Isle." Honestly, she was practically twitching to be off to solve the mystery, despite her calm outer demeanor.

"Oh, that's right. Sorry again." Reaching out, Cabel took his staff in one hand, using it to climb to his feet before offering Eudora a hand. "Let's be off then. We're not likely to find much by sitting here and staring at the lake. Maybe someone else knows what this odd feeling is in the air..."

As Eudora climbed to her feet, a flash of movement out of the corner of her eye caught her attention. Was that...another Pae? Or two?

Faroth nodded enthusiastically at Texas' words, reaching out to gently pat the toddler faun's head. "That's a neat name! I like it!"

Kane quirked an eyebrow at the odd look from Magnus. Okay, so maybe he'd read the Fae slightly wrong...but hey, he wasn't perfect. Just close. "I doubt it," he muttered, rolling his eyes. The demon wasn't happy about the attitude the supposed Chieftan had displayed so far.

"Apparently, if you're not a faun, you're not worth his time." Kane had been pushed pretty far at this point...further than he'd let most Pae go without a threat, let along a snarky comment. "We demons seem to rate just above slugs. Or maybe under. It's hard to tell from the amount of disdain he's been radiating since he got here."

"Don't get me wrong," he continued, his slitted eyes locked on the large faun. "I'll give respect where respect is due. However, I see little reason to give it to someone who shows up with little explanation for himself, but has no trouble in speaking down to others with obvious, unsolicited prejudice."

Faroth stared at Kane in shock and disbelief, jaw hanging open. He...he couldn't speak to the Chieftan that way! "K-k-kane! Stop!" He stood, dashing over towards the demon, determined to stop him somehow, before he said anything more.

Kane glowered at Rais, turning a slight glance down at Faroth before shaking his head and pushing the kid behind his leg, where the small faun clung, looking upset. No, Kane wasn't about to use the kid as a shield. He held his ground between the child faun and the angry-looking leader. "If you want my opinion...which you probably don't, but you're going to get it anyway..." he started, blue eyes flicking up to meet the Chieftan's glare. "I'd trust that tot over there more with the demon watching over him than I would with you."

Sally had been about to reply when she saw others start to head off out of the corner of her eye. She nodded in understanding as Hula Bob joined them to leave though she did wish they could talk some more. Waving she called out to him as he left "I'll go plant the pumpkins and let you know when they're ready."

Lhiannan ran a tongue over her teeth, half wishing she had a pair of fangs herself. They looked cool. "Oh well I'm glad you aren't poisonous anyway. "

The fae considered the word as he spoke it, not exactly sure what being a friend entailed. Reflecting on all the previous encounters she'd had with other pae, none of which resulted well, this one was going much better. Perhaps that's what being a friend meant. "I would like that. Friend."

A wafting of sulfur and salt hit her nose and she felt her head spin again slightly. Crinkling her nose, she looked at Devyn to question "Do you know why the scent of the island has changed? The smell of sulfur and salt is so strong now."

He does kinda look like a deer, doesn't he?" Alaera agreed with the older woman. "But he's only got hooves on his feet."

She chuckled as Melek poked the toddler. Lorne's eyes started to water up and sensing a bout of crying coming up, she rubbed his head comfortingly. "Now now sweetie would you like to be poked? He's little you have to be gentle." She pushed her new little charge out away from her a little, laying him on his back, and lightly tickling his tummy.

Lorne eyed the little boy suspiciously, his eyes watering up as he was poked. The big nice lady started rubbing his head though and it reassured him somehow. He liked her, he thought as he suckled harder on his binkie.

The toddler's eyes began to water up again as she pushed him away, not wanting to be separated from her but before he could begin to cry in earnest her fingers danced lightly over his tummy, a strange sensation crawling over him making him want to laugh. His binkie fell out of his mouth as the first sound he made was a soft tinkling laughter.

"Would you like to try?" Alaera asked the small child.

"Ah!" Pastela's wings drooped a little and gently she took his hands in hers, clasping them tightly in front of her. "I promise that as soon as we finish finding out what in the name of the Guardians is going on, I'll gladly be a pupil to your teaching of the back flip." She gave him a bright, cheerful smile and giggled a little.

Nitidu rolled her eyes again. She knew once there was someone interesting to talk to, Arvid had a hard time paying attention to other things around him. Even though by date he was her older brother, he was still a kid, so she really couldn't blame him.

She then put her attention back to keeping calm. Honestly, it was sort of comforting having Cutter there, as he was her size, maybe just a bit taller. It felt like he could protect her more then her child sized brother could. She squeezed his hand back and smiled at him, feeling a bit better.

((I think this is a good close for Aysu and Noel. biggrin ))

Noel smiled and closed her eyes. It had been such a long and strange day. She was a bit happy it was over. She felt all her emotions take their toll and finally she fell into a dreamless sleep, too exhausted to go on.

***

Woobie smiled, "It's a date then." He then started walking in the general direction of the HQ, weather he knew he was or not is unknown. "I'm sure will figure it out soon." It couldn't be that complicated, could it?

***

Rais was feeling his temper start to return with all the condescending remarks. They did not understand their place, which wasn't unexpected as the ancients and their leaders had been gone a long time know. As his temper started to flare the ground started to shake. Not as bad as before, but it almost sounded like a growl coming from the isle.

"Respect is earned, you are right. You have earned none from me." He told the rude tiger-demon. "The fauns will stay seeing that each demon has his or her own personality." He said to the group. The demon with the child treated him as his own and that was all Rais needed to see. "If they are treated as your children, I see no harm..yet. If things change, you will know." With that said he turned to leave. He needed no more time with the tiger-demon. His temper wasn't one to play with. "Faroth?" Would he be coming with or staying?

***

((Edits for Cutter))

He saw the smile on the girl's face and he smiled back. Maybe she was feeling better. "Do you want to see what everyone is reading or would you rather stay here?" He didn't want to push her too hard.

(( Sounds good. ^^ ))

------------

Magnus rolled his eyes, ignoring Criofan's non-verbal attempt at silencing him. This Rais guy was quite literally a royal a*****e. Yet? It almost sounded like as if he was expecting them to screw up somewhere down the line, like he couldn't believe that everything would remain all fine and good. What a brat. Coming out of nowhere and thinking that he was somehow the king of the isle just because his anger seemed to be why the ground quaked.

"a**," was all Magnus had to say--mostly because Kane had verbalized everything there was to say anyway--before he turned away from the decorated faun to the two young fauns that were with Texas.

At least he seemed to understand that not everyone was the same. After all, he implied Texas had his own personality that was definitely separate from Kane's, so maybe he wouldn't judge Criofan by his race, either. Good. That probably meant that he had made a good impression that wouldn't be tainted by Magnus' behavior.

...That being said, Kane and Magnus did have a point, but he wasn't about to verbally show any sort of argeement with them so he could stay on the faun's good side. If that was just him that caused the ground below to growl, Chieftan Rais of Laisidhiel could be a very useful ally in the future...

Texas was honored when Kane remarked that he would trust 'that tot' more with him than the man who seemed to be from Vangelis' race, and offered a small smile in thanks, before turning back down to the toddler he was holding.

At the old faun's remark that he saw no harm, even if his approval was temporary, Texas seemed visually relieved. The demonic didn't want to lose the child he had just watched be born because Rais wasn't too pleased with the idea of a toddler faun staying with an adult demon. He had to wonder what could cause the faun to change his mind and why he hadn't believed demons had separate personalities from each other--were ancient demons some kind of hivemind?--but he decided not to question him and simply nod his head in thanks for the approval.

This man seemed a little testy anyway. It was better not to risk it with further questioning.

When Texas was relieved, Vangelis stopped curling so close and relaxed a little in Texas' arms. He seemed to be feeling a little better now that he knew how to react to the big thing with green and brown things coming out of his head. No longer saddened, the toddler decided that he would go back to happily playing with Texas' hand, enjoying the weird things sticking out of it and periodically deciding it was a good idea to stick them in his mouth. They had a taste!

Pastela nodded. "A date it is! I can't wait! I hope I can be as graceful as you, Woobie." She smiled and happily followed Woobie's lead as they walked off. She was really glad that she had ended up reuniting with him, he made her feel safe and secure in a time where if she was alone she would have been terrified.

"I bet you can!" He smiled it would be nice to have someone to do acrobatics with. Kymo, his long ago mate, hadn't really done that with him. She was more dainty or something, he was never sure. Soon they arrived at the HQ. "Hey, I know this place. I bet it has answers."

Pastela looked up at the HQ and blinked. "I recognize this place vaguely....." She felt as if she'd known this place before, but perhaps it was from the stories that Seth had told her when they were younger. "I don't know... I can't recall having been here before....."
PostPosted: Wed Jun 10, 2009 4:29 pm

"I have." He had been here a few times with Kymo. Once to find Halloween costumes. "It's a cool place. Rooms appear when you need them. I don't remember it being a lighthouse though." He shrugged and walked past a few pae to see the note. "In the ocean?" He turned to Pastela and let her read.

Pastela bit her thumb nail as she read, her brows furrowing a little. "Well.... I guess that could explain why some of the island has changed.... And I like the sound of 'tropical paradise', it sounds romantic!" She giggled and sighed feeling herself slip into a daydream. "Makes me want to go to the beach....."
