well it is a mage city correct? -opens on eye to see the crater- maybe it's hidden...

-the next morning i wake you both up- wake up it's time for the final strech of our joourney. -i grab you both and head down the mountain towards the city- almost there fellows.

That would be the only reason they would cloak it. If an enemy has come.
