Bushido Bacon
Andy would have loved to yell back at Ixpath about how he wasn't useless, but he didn't. Because he didn't hear a word that Ixpath said. All of his attention was on the thing ahead of him, inside the labyrinth. It wasn't unlike what Ixpath had just mentioned. About four feet tall and the same in diameter, it was truly a ball of tentacles. With oily black skin that oozed a foul-smelling green liquid and several cloudy white eyes, one might say that it was an octopus from hell. It must have had terrible eyesight, because it only noticed Andy when it came near. The smell of human -well, at least half-human- filled its olfactory pores, and it went into a fury. Uttering a cry that sounded halfway between roar and belch, it launched itself at Andy. He didn't have time to draw his sword before it began to latch onto his face. One tentacle went around his head to cover his eyes. A second one latched onto his nose and mouth to halt breathing. A third snaked around his neck and began to constrict his throat. All this happened in only a second, as Andy finished drawing his sword and tried to swing. He could no longer take in breaths, and everything started to go dark...
Until, miraculously, his sword made contact with soft flesh. The horror hissed and flinched back, allowing Andy to take a gasp of precious air. Quickly recovering from the blow, the monster tightened its grip again and began to add more tentacles to the constriction. Throwing himself to the ground, Andy began thrashing in a desperate attempt to get free of the beast. It would not give in, though, even though Andy had managed to land several more blows.
Korsu stared at the brawl, clutching his sword hilt tightly. You've got to be kidding. I could cleave that thing in two! And I would, if that idiot hadn't provoked it first!

Ixpath leaped up from his seat, roaring; "Danmit, always getting in trouble, just like I said! Dros-o-Khala!" A green lightning bolt shot towards the aptly named 'Horror' but mysteriously bounced off, reflecting towards Ixpath. Striking him, he flew backwards some twenty feet, then lightning started to arc from chair to chair. A magical misfire, or Wild Magic, as one might call it. "Danm... Magical resistance... I should have guessed that wouldn't do much against a Shuggoth." Standing up again, the air around Ixpath started turning the color Octarine, shining all the colors of the rainbow, and then some. "Necronomisis!" Claws, sharp and bladed, flicked out of the ground. Many skeletons pulled themselves out of the ground, wearing hand-claws and meager armor. Most threw themselves on the thing, but a few bothered to slash the tentacles holding Andy and pull him out of the writhing storm. Then they, too, leaped into the fray.
((By the way, i'm calling this monster a Shuggoth, because that's what they sound like; The monstrous race in Call of Cthulu.))
