He turned, hoping to see Lilly coming back to discuss what he'd said.

Psy stepped into sight with the oddest of looks on her face. She blinked when she saw him. "Oh."

"Can I take it as assumed that you are the 'thick headed freak with a few screws loose', that she mentioned?"

"If by she, you mean Miss Lilly, then yes. Did she say something to hurt you? You really must forgive her if she did, I'm afraid I've upset her, so it really is me she's angry with."

"Fascinating," she murmured to her self, then smiled gently at him. "would you care to talk about it? I thin k you will find that I am a rather good listener."

"If you do not mind." He sighed and wrapped his cloak back around him. "It appears that I have no skills with women. I could not please my mate. Often she would burst out in tears and be angry with me, though I had no idea what I did wrong. And the same thing happens now, though Lilly just gets mad and refuses to believe that what I say is true."

"Nothing other than I do my best to understand them and to give them all that they deserve. Simple things that a man should say to a woman, like that he loves her unconditionally, or that his heart is filled with thoughts of her."

"and a lot of times, in a lot of cases, that is the perfect thing to say, and all a woman wants to hear," she said softly. "But there are times when it could be taken otherwise, as well. It could be seen by some as smothering. Some may feel as though that were a responsibility, to be worthy of that. Others may feel like they are being pressured, as though if they feel any other way they are wrong, unworthy, or not good enough. Others, if they do not believe themselves worthy of it, may think it a cruel joke. Some people cannot love themselves, or have not yet learned how to love themselves. That makes the love of others something alien and difficult to understand, and thus, something terrifying. Tell me more?"

"My children with my mate are old enough to understand what goes on between their mother and I now. I could not break her heart anymore, so I asked for release. She would look at me and cry, telling me my words were never the right things to say and that I was a terrible mate. I had fallen for Miss Lilly, and tried to tell her of my feelings when she blw up. Am I doomed to never have another love me?"

"I think that there is much to love in you. I think that you need simply to find more of who the person is, and tailor your words to suit what their ears will hear. If the Lilly you speak of is the one who sent me to you, I sense that she distrusts herself, and harbors no love of the self. She is the type that strong professions of love will scare and confuse. Perhaps what is nessesary is a subtler touch. I think that for one such as her, she needs to first be brought to love herself before she can accept that another loves her. She needs to be shown in actions, more then in words, what there is about her that she could love. I think she also needs some one to talk to, a confidant, but does not trust herself to have one. Any offer to be such, from anyone, would likewise have to be subtle, I think."

"I am certain she will. Remember, sometimes that which seems strongest, is actually the weakest. A single brick can bring a wall crashing down, where you may find more aid in slowly, deliberately, dismantling it."

"Another wise word. Do you know why Lilly told you to come to me? Why not go talk with her?"
