HarmonyxSonnet Story-

Sonnet’s eyes slowly flipped open as air filled her lungs. Sitting under the shade of the largest tree in the forest. Light was filtering from the sun that had risen in the sky and was now draping through the branches. The air was crisp like a soft spring day and made Sonnet want to smile. For once, for once in her whole life she had gone to bed without waking in night terrors, for once her nightmares were gone.

Shifting her body, a smile did actually grace her lips when she saw the most beautiful lioness laying beside her. The lunar’s body had been nestled right up to the note marked female, arms wrapped around so their bodies were tangled together in an intimate embrace. Sonnet had to wonder what she had done that could warrant her such a beautiful mate. Harmony was truly everything she could have ever desired and no matter how many times she looked at her, she felt that there never could be anyone more wonderful and graceful than the female who had stolen her heart.

Sonnet’s smile increased as she moved her head so that she could lay a sweet little kiss on her mate’s cheek, following it by a little nuzzle to her ear. “It’s morning my love..” She stated in her usual quiet tones. Sonnet had never learned how to speak up but she knew Harmony had learned to hear every word. With purrs leaving her throat, “I’m going for a walk, I don’t want you to worry, I just want to enjoy the sun… you sleep.” Nuzzling her again, Sonnet carefully moved her mate’s arms so that she could reach her paws. Leaving a lick on Harmony’s nose, she began to walk away, closing her eyes to the little fits of light that were streaming down from the gaps between the trees.

With each step that Sonnet took she could feel the temperature slightly increasing as the day was growing longer. However, the crispness was still there instilling a calmness deep inside the lioness. For the first time in so long she felt as if she belonged, if the life she held wasn’t some joke. Was this what it was like to be in love? Was this… was she actually happy?

With a smile still bright on her face, in the end she decided that she was. Last night had been wonderful, a dream that had come true, a dream she never thought fathomable. Harmony was a wonderful lover, she was the one who had brought this happiness to her. Sonnet never wanted to leave her side. She couldn’t believe that their childhood friendship had evolved into something so lovely, something that she was sure the gods were envious of.

Sonnet paused in her tracks. Moving a paw down from her chest to her stomach she couldn’t help but blink at what she thought she felt. Envious? Were the gods envious? Her head tilted down to her stomach as her tail curled behind her. It couldn’t be possible, could it? Sonnet may have not grown up with very much education or high standings but she was sure that one female couldn’t impregnate the other. She couldn’t be pregnant, it was impossible, wasn’t it?

Shaking off the feeling, she continued her hike through the woods as she hummed softly to herself. However, the more she hummed the more she felt sure that something else was there, a feeling she hadn’t felt last night. There was a glow about everything, even a glow about herself and more importantly she felt a warmth inside of her, a warmth that wasn’t hers.. It was a warmth that was her mate’s, a warmth that was neither hers nor Harmony’s. A content expression washed over the turquoise colored lioness. A family? Could she finally have a family? Turning her body back around, she began to head back to Harmony. It may have been crazy, and her mate might think she was insane, but she had to know what Harmony thought about this…


The soft words from Sonnet placed a smile on her lips even in her sleep. Every word indeed did meet her ears, but it wasn't until the lick that the words made sense. Harmony's eyes jolted open just in time to see the tail feathers whip around the corner of a tree. Turning on to her back she looked up at the clouds that mirrored her own coat and sighed happily. Everything she had ever dreamed of was coming true, she had her Sonnet, happiness and her freedom from her parents.

There was only one problem, besides the fact that her mate was no longer in her arms, she was gaining weight. It made no sense to her, she wasn't eating any more than normal and she was just as active if not more than she was before. Was her metabolism simply slowing down? No that couldn't be it...

The two had spent the night before busy consummating their love for the first time, certainly it would not be the last. But it was impossible for two females to actually spawn without the help of a male, correct?

Beginning to become a little frantic, Harmony's eyes closed as she searched inside herself to search deep inside of herself for the answer. Eyes jolting open, she discovered the answer watching her mate walk up.


Stepping back into view of the little den they had made among the trees, Sonnet smiled upon coming back into view of her mate. When she saw Harmony she immediately greeted her, a wide smile upon her face. In that moment words didn’t have to be said between either one. Both had learned how to read each other’s body language, a feat that had been accomplished through the time spent together when neither of them would speak. Sonnet nuzzled Harmony affectionately and immediately she knew, they would have a family. Envious? No.. perhaps the gods were pleased, because somehow that night the impossible had been accomplished. And the little girl who had no family was now going to be a mother and a lover all in one.
