Katherine gave a smile feeling quite home sick. "They don't, though i find that these people live quite differently in the north. The written word isn't as valuable to them." She said honestly she didn't mind it all that much however. "I am sorry i a small bit home sick."

Lord Dracien started laughing. Laughing hard. he managd to stop himself after a short while. "Now how you know how I always feel, but that's not the point. There just isn't enough light up here to read a good book. The windows have to be small, and lamps just don't light everything around them that well." Lord Dracien let another chuckle out. A small portion of his other mirth. "The snow is one of the reasons I need to talk to the lord." He added.

Katherine liked snow but not to much of it. He was right of course though house buiding was something she knew nothing about at all. That was what she missed the most, was the light she even missed the storms that would blow by in the harbor. Wild and crazy but only for a few moments. She did like that very much. "What of the snow?" Curious now to know what he could want with it.

Lord Dracien looked at her. His eyes became unreadable for a second. "Snow is cold." he replied simply trying to keep from smiling. It had been his idea, but his engineers had made it a reality some time ago, though he never knew it until he came to this place.

Katherine cracked a smile. "I know that much.. but what could you possiably want with it? Doesn't it melt?" She had no idea what he was getting at but she seemed intersted.

Lord Dracien lifted the thermis. "I found out by accident. You know how a warm fur quilt keeps you warm. I thought about it. The fur doesn't seem to warm up on non living objects, but then I felt food. It's warm. We're warm. What if the fur kept things warm, and maybe perhaps kept things cold? I had that little thought for years, until I tasted this luke warm water. It was awful, horrible, and I drank it every day. That made me think of some way to keep it hot after we boiled it. What if we coated a cup with fur? I did that, but it didn't work too well. So, I put another cup over the first cup and made a tight tight lid, and viola. 'A keep things how they are' can. My engineers call it a thermis, but I like my name." Lord dracien thrusted out his crudely made thermis. His smile was one of boyish acheivement. He clearly was very proud of himself for it. "It keeps ice for weeks, too." he finished still smiling/

That was rather smart. "So if you could countain large amounts of ice like the liquid it would have the same outcome." She spoke with a nod. "like our ice boxes." She never personally understood how a ice box was she only knew they brought ice from the north. "Its a very intersting concept. Thinking about that." She spoke rather brightly. "One of our smiths have came up with a flux that makes the steel less likely to break." She spoke with a smile. "He said that it is still being tested but if it is true it will become popular on the dueling grounds."

The lord Dracien smiled. "We've been using ice bergs, but that's a very very dangerous propostion, and the new ice tanks are expensive. Snow from here would be a great investment. Did you know that metal can float?" Dracien said back to her. It had been one of his more recent discoveries, and had caused aquite a contrversity in Tesla.

Matachi walked in after hearing what katherine had said "Yeah but metal is an old thing to be honest." He said unsheathing his blade offering the hilt towards Dracien as he walked over "Take a look at the blade." He said wanting him to inspect the light blue blade that sat before him that carried a small luster of great shine

The day was nice as was the evening no snow fell so she put on a pair of warm rideing pants and a warm tunic of soft crushed blue she kept her long golden hair down as she went to the stables. There horses were usually of bigger stock than her own. She found a black one that seemed to have more fire in its blood than the others as she picked him for her mount. Once saddled she made off not planing on going far but just enough to see more of the land bathed in snow.

((Really sorry about not getting on in the past.... three days. My computer was on a real fritz where I would start it up for about five or ten minutes then...... It goes off. stare Apparently it had something to do with wiring or whatnot. I don't know my friend who knows computers does. He fixed it for me. He's one of those dudes who bys his own parts to make his own computer.))
Tempest walked over to the stables as well and looked about at the large creatures.
"Ya know they look a bit bigger than the ones you have." Tempest said. She didn't want the queen going out on her own so tempest tought it would be a good idea to go with Katherine.
((I know a bit short but my first post after three days seems to be a writers block crying ))
