Envy's eyes widened slightly and flickered once. Alchemist, eh? A smirk spread across his face. "Well, like I said before, you have found Central...... but, I cannot help you as far as alchemy goes." He watched her silently. She seemed to have some difficulty looking him in the eye, and was fidgeting around. Normal reaction. He positioned himself and then jumped lightly off the place he was sitting ontop of the fountain. He made no sound as he hit the ground and no footsteps were heard as he approached the girl. What should I do now? Oh! Hurry up, Adine! Feh, she's slow, as would be expected from a human.

Armony kept her eyes plastered to the puddle-littered ground a bit off to the right as Envy spoke. She smiled, and turned to thank him for his help -- only to find him standing at a much closer proximity than he had been when she'd looked away. How did he do that...?

She jumped slightly, and took a startled step backward, bringing her hands together, clasping them nervously in front of her person. She was beginning to realize why her stomach was twisting itself in knots. She tried once again to keep her fear from being apparent.

"Well... thank you, sir..." She swallowed, trying to erase the quiver from her voice. "I... I suppose, I'll... head off now..."

Calm down! She shouted at herself mentally. He's just lightfooted, that's all... there's nothing abnormal about strange men with purple eyes that make absolutely no sound when they jump from a fountain to the ground!! She paused to think of how ridiculous that statement sounded. What the hell am I thinking?! Of course there is!!

She took another small step backward. Her legs didn't seem to want to listen to her... she was telling them to high-tail it to the HeadQuarters -- which she'd been standing in front of the entire time, damn her lack of perceptiveness -- , but the refused to obey her. What a wonderful time for her body to decide it wanted to be insubordinate!

And now she couldn't tear her eyes from the strange, violet-eyed deceiver standing in front of her. She had to admit, his eyes were, if nothing else, interesting...

((Eeh. Okay, I'm really not entirely sure if the fountain is inside the HQ or not, but I figured it was outside... xp Someone tell me if I'm wrong, hmmn? ^_^;; ))

Then he spoke once more, in frightfully cold voice. "Are you frightened?" He straightened himself. "Well, then, we don't want that, do we?" He could see it in her crimson eyes.... she was completely freaking out, though trying to hide it.

"I suppose so....." Just go already! Do I scare you that much? He was tired of dealing with humans entirely. He had met too many in one day and all the things taking place were draining him.

Do I really want to kill her.... Ay, it would be a nice change.. He slowly walked closer as she took a step back. She was completely frozen in her own fear. What Envy did next, scared her even more. Envy held out his hand for her to shake. "Hullo! Nice to meet cha! Now I'm pretty sure I didn't catch your name. Hmmm?" He cooed calmly. I guess I like knowing their names before I kill 'em.... haha. He grinned. Now, shall I tell her my name? I'm guessing she should like know mine before she dies as well.

Armony's hands twitched, and she drew them closer to herself. Yes, she was frightened. Her eyebrows knit themselves together in an expression caught somewhere in the middle of determination and fear. She coiled slightly like a cornered animal, crimson eyes wild, pupils dilated.

Hell will freeze over before I'll tell this wierdo I'm afraid of him...

A soft "eep" made its way out of Armony's mouth as Envy stepped closer. It was quite obvious now that she was afraid. Saying so wouldn't have done much. Her eyes widened slightly, and she stepped backward again, boot splashing into a puddle. She didn't care.

When he extended his hand to her in a seemingly neighborly gesture, all the color drained from Armony's already pale face.

What kind of drugs was this freak on??

Deciding she didn't want to irk the stranger any more than she may have already, she reached a tentative hand toward his, her own name squeaking its way out of a thin gap between pursed lips.

"Armony..." Her eyes remained trained on his hand, trying to coax her own into the grasp of his. Maybe she was wrong to think so oddly of him... maybe he was just trying to make a friendly gesture...

... yeah, that would be the day...

She squinted her eyes closed, and swallowed. There was nothing to be afraid of... she was just being silly. She caught his hand in her own, and gripped it with what little strength she could muster despite her irrational fear of the amethyst-eyed shape shifter. She lifted her crimson eyes to his violet ones, most of the fear having evaporated from behind them. She was surprised by how much thinking logically could calm her down...

...it would seem, that thinking illogically would have gotten her farther in this situation.

"My name is Armony Eiselstein," she said, surprised at how much the fear in her voice had disappated. "I don't think I caught yours, either."

She was seemingly calming herself and had grasped his hand slowly. They were shaking and damp with sweat. Envy grimaced at this. They were warm though, compared to his cold, unfeeling touch. She noticed this as well. Upon hearing her name, Envy grinned, noticing the fear lifting in her voice. Then his friendly smile dimmed and his face seemed to darken as she asked for him name. He lowered his head, letting his long brackish hair cover his eyes. Here it comes...... I wonder if she will recognize the name...haha...

"My name.....?" He whispered calmly. Then, he lifted his head suddenly. Armony now looked upon the face of the true Envy. His eyes were widened and the slits were more visible and thinned slightly. His cheerful smile turned to a sadistic grin, showing white, glistening teeth that seemed "sharper-than-normal". Then he put his mouth near her ear and hissed softly. "Envy."

Envy was about to sit down when he suddenly realized something. "OH s**t!" He jumped off the fountain and chased after Armony. OH crap! Here I am, letting the girl go tell the world that I am conveniently sitting on the fountain!!!! And because she now knows, Adine will be pissed because that will mess up the plan! I was completely unaware! ARGH!

Armony's quick movements were no match for Envy's speed. He quickly caught up to her, jumped up, flipped over the girl, and grabbed her, all in a mere second. Armony was shocked and started to struggle against Envy's grasp. "Stoppit! Its not use, you wont get away now." He whispered as he ran he back to the fountain. He sat her down on the edge of the basin at the bottom of the fountain and silently turned away. He put his hands on his hips and sighed. He turned back around to look at Armony, who was gawking at him in confusion, shock, and fear. "I just realized you figured out too much as soon as you set eyes on me." He turned his back on her. "There is no chance of escape for you, and you know that. We are going to stay here until an aquiantance of mine comes."

To say Armony was confused was an understatement. A very, very large understatement. Why hadn't he killed her?? She stood up, her expression soured. She was tired of this game already. It was cold outside, and obviously she wasn't going to get any help from this Homunculus. She crossed her arms over her chest, letting him explain his actions.

"Figured out too much?" She raised one eyebrow. He was giving her too much credit... she hadn't the faintest of an idea of what she'd gotten herself into until he'd told her who he was. She rolled her eyes slightly. He behaved like a bratty fifteen year old, not a three-hundred-and-some year old Homunculus. Weren't they supposed to be vicious, ruthless killers? He seemed more like a teenager who would prefer to break their mother's favorite vase than what she'd heard of Homunculi....

If only those women on the train could see him now... I bet they wouldn't be as afraid of him... She snickered softly.

His comment of "aquaintance of mine" struck her a bit off-guard. Aquaintance? Hopefully no worse than him... sighing huffily, she put one hand on a hip.

"So you messed up, didn't you? Why didn't you just kill me?"

She instantly regretted asking. What if he hadn't thought of that....?

Nice, Armony. If you weren't dead already, you probably are now. Unless that "aquaintance" of his gets here pretty damn quick and for some reason decides to forbid him the homocidal act...

"If you think I am too soft-spoken to kill you, think again. If I werent in the position I am in now, you would have been dead the moment you set eyes on me. So sit back down. Like I said before, there is no escaping. Oh, and..." Envy as though reading her mind, slowly mentioned something Armony did not like. ".... my aquiantance is a whole lot meaner than I am, so I would ready myself, if I were you." He looked back at her and noticed she was shivering slightly. "Cold?" He, of course, was quite content... but that of course, was because he was a Homunculus. He touched the Uroboros tattoo on his left thigh and let out a deep sigh. This was boring. The last thing he had EVER wanted to do was to babysit some human. He heard her speak again, but ignored it. Stuck-up little girl....she should be thankful for the short and worthless life she gets to keep one more day. Of course I didnt kill her.... not now, not yet. She will see....

Armony's brattish attitude caused her to pop her hip to the side a little, crossing her arms over her chest again.

"In the position you're in now? That means you can't kill me, right? You're not allowed, or something. Right?"

She was caught slightly off-guard again when he made an inquiry about her being cold. She puffed her cheeks slightly.

"No, whatever gave you that idea, Mr. Palm Tree?" She rolled her eyes, and flopped backward to sit on the basin of the fountain again. She crossed one leg over the other, bouncing it impatiently. Her arms remained folded tightly over her chest, partially for warmth, and partially because she really didn't enjoy being in the company of the Homunculus.

In fact, she probably didn't like it any more than he did. Granted, she didn't hate the company of others with the same kind of flaming, psychotic passion as Envy did, but then again, who did? 300+ years could do that to a person, she supposed.

She sighed, and relaxed her arms a little, putting them behind herself and resting her weight on her palms.

"So why's everybody makin' such a fuss about you being 'free', as they call it? You're not that bad, far as I can see..." She tilted her head to the side. Although... that may not be the best thing to say to him, he seemed caught in a position where he wasn't allowed to kill her, she figured she could push his buttons all the wanted.

((Armony's on a one-way path to getting killed... whether he's "allowed" to, or not. XD; Junshou, hurry up and come back so Adine can come out here!! XD;; ))

((I stopped there, figuring I'd let you make your move.... 'cause I didn't really know if Envy would give her the option of running or not. sweatdrop ...and this is where I begin to wonder where Adine-san got to... o___o;; ))

(( stare Adine-san is waiting for Mustang to get his handsome a** down to the lobby so she can give him the map and then come out and talk to Envy...who is probably ready to kill her now for making him wait so long...! sweatdrop I guess I'll have to improvise... *sigh*))

Adine uncrossed her legs, then crossed them the other way, glanced at the clock, then sighed loudly.

This was going nowhere. Where the hell was the brigadier general? Lord help them if there was ever a real emergency, the brass couldn't get anywhere in a timely manner, it seemed... If there was ever a sudden attack, yeah, they were all pretty much doomed. She sighed again, then stood up.

Time to take matters into her own hands.

"Guard!" she called, and the guard almost threw his newspaper over the counter. He leapt to his feet and saluted sharply before remembering that Adine was a civilian.

"Ma'am!?" he gasped, dropping the salute and staring at her wide-eyed.

She waved her hand. "I'm tired of waiting, I have things to do," she told him, walking swiftly over to him. He leaned back a little when she moved in close and gave him a piercing stare. "You tell Brigadier General Mustang," she said, poking his chest with one long thin finger, "that Tsukiyama-chuusa took the children to her office, and that I have something he may find extremely interesting. I'll be in contact with him." Her finger moved from the guard's chest to his chin, and then circled the tip of his nose. "You...will make sure to tell him that...won't you, Guard?"

All the guard was able to do was splutter and nod in response. Adine snickered and breezed past him, leaving the faint scent of peaches lingering in the guard's senses. She pranced toward the front door of the lobby to head out into the front courtyard, her little penlight lighting her way as she sauntered out of the building.

She stepped out into the evening, and was surprised to see the rain had stopped. She sighed again.

Dammit...see what happens when people try my patience... I get distracted, and things get disrupted. She shook her head angrily. Curse you, Mustang, now I have to start over...

She rubbed her chin and cast a glance over her shoulder at the darkened HQ building. On the otherhand...perhaps starting over wasn't necessary. The gears had already begun to turn. Maybe she wouldn't have to start over after all...

Her green eyes flicked across the courtyard and focused on the fountain.

"Envy!" she hissed loudly. "Where in crimony have you gone to? Envy!"

There was an answering sort of call from beyond where she could see, and she scoffed, stomping toward the voice. She pressed her hands onto her slender hips and screwed up her face to give Envy a piece of her mind...even though he was really at no fault for this. But rather than apologize for her tardiness and admit she had been the one in the wrong, she decided it would be much more inventive to yell at Envy instead.

"Envy, where have you been?? I have been looking all over for--"

Her lie died on her lips when she saw the Homunculus standing on front of the fountain, holding a young girl roughly by the arm. She was small, barely over five feet tall, with hair that almost matched Adine's own in fire. The child's crimson eyes were wide in fear, and Adine was certain the glint in Envy's purple ones was nothing short of bloodlust.

s**t...I turn my back for five minutes...!

She saw the girl's eyes flick toward her, a sort of pleading terror behind them, and Adine paused a moment in thought.

Hrm... If everything did indeed happen for a reason...there must have been a good reason for this little one to cross paths with Envy... Adine smelled opportunity. And my, my, did it smell sweet.

This little girl was non other than Armony Eiselstein... This girl...had died several years ago--or so everyone thought. Adine had seen the files... The only daughter of Professor Eiselstein, Armony had had a run-in with Ed, Al, Mustang and Hawkeye a few years ago, and it had been quite the incident. Adine had read all about it.

Her green eyes glinted. Perhaps it would be in her best interests to remove Envy's spindly fingers from the youngster's arm.

This one...could well have been the best find she'd had in a while. First the map, now the Professor's dead daughter...? She laughed to herself. Oh, but a black star was shining over Adine's zenith tonight. The angry glare melted away from her features, and she slowly approached Envy and Armony. In her sweetest voice, she "hmm hmm hmmm'ed" in intrigue.

"My, Envy," she cooed, closing a long hand over his skinny shoulder and squeezed--tightly enough to clue him into the fact that she meant business and to play along--"what have we here...?" The hand left his shoulder and she raised both to her face. "My God!" she gasped. "Is that..." She squealed in delight and tore Envy's hand from Armony to envelop the girl in an impromptu embrace. "Armony?? Armony-chan, is that you??"

Oh...this was turning out to be a good day after all...

Armony stared at the emerald-eyed woman, startled.

She knows my name...?

She stood up suddenly, ignorning Envy's disgusted glares at her. She clasped her hands near her throat, and chirped in a soft voice, her previously bratty tone having left when Adine arrived.

"You... do you know me?" She sounded more hopeful than anything else. Her voice was slightly tinged with fear. What if this were a trap set up by the Homunculus...? What if she were another Homunculus...?

She shook her head mentally.

Nevermind that, Armony! She might know you! She might be able to tell you who the hell you are...!

She glanced over her shoulder at Envy, quickly. It was almost like she was asking him for permission to speak to Adine. Lord knows, she didn't want to piss the Homunculus off.

Turning her crimson gaze back to Adine, she shifted nervously. Her eyes travelled from Adine's green eyes to her shoes, and back up quickly, as if to figure out if she was a threat or not.

Deciding she really didn't care at the moment, she let her arms flop back to her sides.

"..." she looked over her shoulder at Envy again, and suddenly her expression flattened somewhat.

stare Why am I not leaping at this oppurtunity to get away from this Creepazoid? Damn.

She turned to Adine a final time, and waited for whatever kind of reaction the woman may have to her inquiry.

Perfect.

Adine released the embrace and held the shivering, rain-drenched girl at arm's length, pasting the biggest smile she could muster on her face.

"Armony, sweetheart!" she crowed joyously. "Where have you been, Child? Where have you been?? We all thought you were killed!" She hugged the girl again, and shot Envy a sly look that told him to just follow her lead. She winked, then released Armony again. "Armony..." she whispered, putting on an Oscar-worthy performance, "thank the gods you've come back..." She raised her hand to her face and cast Envy a mean look. "Ohhh, did my friend here scare you?" she asked. "Don't you mind him, he's harmless."

She saw Envy twitch out of the corner of her eye.

She paused at the confused look on the girl's face, and grinned to herself. The trap was set, all that left to do was spring it.

"Don't you recognize me?" she gasped. "It's me, your Aunt Adine! Honey, it's me!"

Armony's eyes snapped open wide.

Adine's mouth turned up into a long, thin smile.

She hugged the girl again, and shot Envy a sly look that told him to just follow her lead.

HARMLESS! I'LL SHOW YOU HARMLESS! I'LL GIVE YOU A PIECE OF MY MIND YOU...((thoughts trail off--profound language and whatnot))
Envy was twitching uncontrollably. Greeeeeeeat. Now the kid would think he was a weakling and could beat him. She of course, couldnt, but it didnt matter, Adine had insulted him.
"I wont forgive you for that one." He whispered under his breath, making sure Adine was the only one to hear.

((oooo... mad Envy-sama..... BEWARE! xd ))

Adine snickered to herself. She knew Envy was going to give her hell for that one later...

"Don't you recognize me?" she gasped. "It's me, your Aunt Adine! Honey, it's me!"

Armony could have died right there. "Aunt" usually meant relation, or at the very least, some form of endearment. This woman knew her!! She all but squealed, her face nearly splitting in two in a grin.

"Adine-san, forgive me...!" she said softly, bowing forward. "I..." she stared at the ground. "I can't seem to remember anything about myself... but I'll try my best, I promise!" She straightened, hands clasped near her throat again.

She was positively glowing.

Armony couldn't help but giggle. She was happier than she had been in a long while, and she found the feared Homunculus amusing. She turned back to Adine.

She'd completely fallen for it. Ooh, what a twist for the girl. Thought dead to the world, she'd been "alive" for four years that she could remember, and now she'd fallen into the wrong hands. Fallen completely into the wrong hands. How was she supposed to know better, though? She didn't know who she knew and who she didn't... and with Adine's haircolor matching her own, there certainly was possibility for family relation between the two...

...a thought came to Armony that made her squirm slightly.

How was Adine involved with Envy...??

She snapped her pleading crimson eyes to the green ones of Adine.

"Nee, Adine-san..." she looked quickly at Envy. "...how... how do you know this one? He's that 'feared' Homunculus, Envy, you know..." Her eyes flattened. "...although, anymore... I fail to see why he's so scary..." She turned her naive gaze back to the woman again, her face placid.

She was happy, there was no doubting that. A little apprehensive, but not enough to make her truly question anything. She was with family... or so she thought. What was there to question? Adine knew more about her than she herself did.

So, giving Adine the benefit of the doubt, she smiled childishly.

She hadn't been this happy in years.
