[[__ooc:And, @ Xinrie, I do not know you, but I am sincerely sorry that something of this magnitude has happened to you. I shall.. "pray" for you also. Brightest Blessings.__]]
Glittering yellow eyes eyed the doorway to the Great Library, where it had been directed to go. Its jet black hair was a thick silky pelt that covered its body like a shadow, the blackness only broken by the leopard like spots across its shoulders and down its sides that were a slightly lighter shade than the rest of the fur. The panther was the size of a small pony, with a leather bag hooked over its neck, and a wicked blade in an unusually shaped holster down its back. As it stepped to the doorway, they opened on well oiled hinges, and for a moment nothing moved. The panther stilled, lowered its head to stare into the slightly dim interior, though the yellow eyes sharpened and could see very well. Her tail twitched from side to side as she scented the air, at first unable to discern any threats. Her orders had been clear. Get to the Library immediately, they had a need for new recruits. They had given her the scent of the "Joel" she was to find, and had said simply to find him safely. They had warned her the library was unstable, and not a normal library in any way. The finding part would be simple, the "safely" had made her cautious. She stepped inside, rotating her ears, eyes looking everywhere as the door closed as softly and suddenly behind her as it had opened. She gave it one look then raised her head, turning until she caught the faintest scent of people. One had recently came through, others seemed to blend with the library, must have been the librarians she had been warned about; then There, that scent she recognized. She stopped at the edge of one of the tall isles, glanced behind her at the door, then sniffed the air again. It was still there, though faint. With a sigh the panther pushed off with her back feet, whiskers twitching as she took in information about her surrondings at a dead run, body low to the ground, a great black blur that shot between the isles of bookcases deeper into the library. She made no sound, her padded paws whispering over the cold tile of the ground with precision, her claws retracted until she needed them. She started to send out a mental call to locate her target faster, then thought better of it, not wanting to attract the attention of anything else in the library. Instead she kept going, running swiftly. She could sense unusual reading from the books she passed, some even more so than others, and she decided that must be what they had barely begun to warn her about. She wondered briefly if this "Joel" was another mercenary lost in the depths of the library, or if it was a test of some sort to see if she could find him and continue with another peice of the mission he would fill her in on. She would simply worry about it upon finding him. Suddenly her whiskers twitched, and she almost stopped, but did not break stride. Instead she pressed herself to go faster. The unusual sensation was not constant, which likely meant something bad. Wind? in a library? Well, they spoke the truth when they told me of unusual things. Perhaps I would do well not to underestimate these things. Catching the scent of her target she ran with the wind, unsure of its origin and hoping to simply find Joel.

((Alright)) "Fine." He growled, unhappily. Yue was unhappy to saw the least since he had to be put on look out duty for the losers who were to slow to enter the portal. 'They had better move quickily. My patience for mistakes is reaching its end.' Walking through the streets of the town, the battered remaints of a city were beginning to rebuild. The scene would have struck a feeling in Yue, if he had not be assigned to this pitful task.

(( Requiem, I assume the vague somethings in your post were invitations. If I am in error, say so, and I'll change the post. ))
The Library, MMHQ
"So, how long have you been in the library?" Two puffs of air. "Two... two whats? Hours? Days? Months?" Wind hit both of his arms at once, which Joel guessed meant I-don't-know. The wind wizard had not come out of hiding. He, she or it had refused to speak, and insisted on communicating only through the wind.
"Did you fall in through a book, too?" A puff on the right arm for yes. "I fell in here that way about six hours ago. There I was, happily going through a lost and found in that desert city and poof, it becomes a library. The guards are probably still wondering where I went. Unless they learn how to trace holes in the cosmos sometime soon, they're not going to find out."
He paused. While there were plenty of people who would be interested in knowing where he was, very few of them had the ability to trace him here. Maybe that crazy evil genius with all the nukes, but that was it. Kavinsky, his name was. The librarians knew he was here, but they didn't care. In short, he was on his own in a new world with no way back. For the third time.
Skating over the depressing moment, Joel asked, "So, Gustav - can I call you Gustav? - does anybody know you're in here? Family, friends, the legions of darkness, anyone?"
Gustav hesitated, then blew a yes.
"That's good. Maybe they'll organize a search party or -" A sudden updraft made him look up.
The ceiling was moving.
A large patch of marble was... not really moving, but stretching, off to the right. The stretch marks curved as if towards the center of a circle, and Joel guessed the center of would be about two aisles over.
Joel turned a corner and saw a tall skinny guy in black robes wielding katars. The center of the stretching circle was right above the guy's head. With lightning speed, a marble spike crashed down from the ceiling, but the black-robed man popped to the side. Even faster than it had struck, the ceiling pulled back its spike, leaving no trace of its attack. Joel saw the stranger look around for his attacker, but the robed man didn't look up. The ceiling began stretching again, faster still, again directly over the stranger.
"Move!" Joel started to shout, but Gustav was faster.
A blast of wind hit Riku from the side.
And the ceiling crashed down.

Larry pushed open the door of the library and stepped inside. He wasn't the type of man to normally visit these kinda fancy pants book places and frankly couldn't remember the last time he was dressed better than he was now. He was wearing his lucky Converse Allstars, tight-fitting faded jeans, a T-Shirt with "NYC U Later" written on it and finally a denim vest to match the jeans. He figured the fact that he had even taken the time to match his shirt and jacket would say something good about him for the less than normal interview he was semi-expecting. "Eyh? Anyone in heah?" he said in his Brooklynese accent "I was told to look for some guy named Frog."

(( Acheron, I like your post. Keep writing. Sonny, the in-character part of this is all for you.
FOR THOSE CONFUSED!
I'm sorry for confusing you. I saw so many people looking for Joel (by name, no less!) and thought, "how do all these people know where he is?!" I did not say to come to the library looking for Joel; I said to come to the library, and your character will end up finding Joel.
HOWEVER, it occurs to me now that they did come looking for him, and so they must have good reasons to be looking for him. This piece of information may help in deciding exactly what that good reason is.
The last three months of Joel's life are unwrit- er, open to improvisation. He appeared three months in kaiju-infested nuclear wasteland, and showed up recently in a desert city on a different world. He must have done something during that time to get all these people coming after him. Possibly it has something to do with his knowledge of portal technology. Just make up some reason why your character cares about mine.
You could also try Gustav. Its entire life is open to improvisation. ))
The library entrance, MMHQ
Dark green tiger stripes on the creature's back would have blended in to almost any surface but the library floor. Its limbs looked strong enough to launch the creature six times its own height, which wasn't much. Its six inch frame was made more fearsome by two bulbous yellow eyes. One of these eyes glared up at Larry balefully.
"Rrrkk-BRIIIT!" the frog announced indignantly.
"Quiet in the library." a nearby librarian hushed both Larry and the frog.

((I'm sorry, I was told to look for Frogtaur. I didn't know that was his OOC name. Calling him frog was a purposeful mistake by me to add to the image of my character. Should I edit or just go along?))
"Don't tell me I was sent to see you." Larry told the amphibian, in clear violation of the earlier stated noise ordnance "If this is my old boss's idea of a retirement joke, it ain't funny." he crossed his arms and looked around the library. He threw his arms up in the air and exhaled sharply through his nose. "Fine," he said "ain't got anywhere else to be than here, let's see who can wait longer."

Riku didn't have enough time to block the blast of wind that hit him. He was thrown into the wall on his right, knocking the wind out of his lungs. He looked up to see the ceiling coming down on him, but all he could do was helplessly raise his arms to defend himself. The spike hit him hard, though his katars took most of the impact.
"What the heck is this thing?" Or that's what he would have shouted, had there been air in his lungs to do so. He couldn't concentrate his energy. He barely managed to roll to the side, and the spike crashed down where he had been. He took a deep breath, and his lungs refilled themselves.
"What... the heck...," Riku gasped. He looked and saw his exposed arm was bleeding. He pulled out a small bottle and took a swig from it. The potion recovered his strength, and he stood up straight.
"Joel, what the hell is going on here?"

The library, MMHQ
Joel stalked forward, watching the ceiling intently, ready to jump if it showed any sign of stretching over him. This wasn't necessary; the spikes were focused on the skinny goth dude. This gave him a moment to think of a plan. The ceiling was made of marble, and had no obvious weak points. Attacking a ceiling seemed pointless, somehow.
"Watch, it scrunches up before it hits. Do you have anything good against stone? If not, then run. Gustav, give us a breeze behind us." Another thought struck him. "You, ceiling, if you're intelligent, cut that out." Unsurprisingly, the ceiling didn't listen. Joel shrugged. It had been worth a shot. He stood poised, ready to run if the guy in black couldn't hold back stone.

The entrance, the library, MMHQ
"Rkkk-BRRRIIP!"
The frog croaked again. Clearly, it could keep up this staring match for months, if it didn't starve first. Its mouth bulged, and it croaked again.
After a minute, the frog lifted one of its front limbs and waved. A shimmering green blotch appeared in the air. The green blotch spiraled inward on itself, and finally coalesced into a dragonfly. With a zap of its tongue, the frog ate it.
The frog glared back at Larry, as if daring him to try something.

((Sorry, I was busy the past few days. -_-'. I am going to launch StarFox Legacies some time today, yay!))
As Sokato moved through the busy streets he started to put together the puzzle. Things that where not clear have become for sure. Like, how does a completely isolated city sitting at the top of a giant mountain grow their food and get raw materials. The only answer that he could come up with was that the city employed giant teleporter discs that transported materials between this city and their sister city.
The cold stares of the citizens started to get to him. He walked faster until he got to an inn slash tavern. It was named "The Silver Spoon". A sign displaying the name was hung on the door. He walked in. It was very drab an dark. The furniture was all made out of wood. Some of the mugs where glass though. Sokato walked up to the bar. The barkeeper also acted as the owner and manager and innkeeper...
"Hello, I would like to lodge here." He said pulling a bag of gold out of his pocket which he received that from Mishap HQ before he left. He took a few coins out of the bag and placed them on the table. "Two rooms, one week."
The barkeeper did not say a word and put the keys on the table and took the coins.

With this, his katars began to glow red-hot until the heat began cutting into the stone. He pulled back one blade, and swung it. The spike was cut cleanly in two. Riku jumped back. "Joel, let's get out of here." With this, he channeled his energy again, and began running towards the exit at top speed.
