He placed each hand in the other sleeve, "My ambitions? To bring order and honor back to my clan. And hobbies... I like to travel, swim, and I enjoy a few games now and then. What about you Andou sensei? Besides swords, of course." He wasn't sure if this was part of the 'training,' but understood the reason for expressing their likes and dislikes. You can't work on a team with someone you know nothing about, even if you know that they like fish would suffice.
He looked over at the tall boy, eyeballing him up and down. He seemed creepily tall for his age. His hair and the way he was built almost reminded him of his own clan members, however he was missing the gauntlets and the 'noble' look they usually had. He wasn't sure how much he liked this new student, but odds were he would most likely have to deal with him.

That was an expected ambition. Andou remembered another Fubuki he had taught once, and he wouldn't have had been surprised to hear the same thing coming from that kid's mouth. Maybe it was a clan thing... it's not like Andou had a clan to restore glory to. "Hmm.." Andou said offhandedly, bringing his arm back to lean on the table. A distracted small smile formed on his face. "I like making sushi. Swimming, huh? I liked that as a child. Have you travelled very much, Fubuki?" he asked him suddenly, turning to him with an oddly intense glance.
[Yeah, I was wondering about that. :S]

"Whatever sushi you make, I would be glad to eat!" Sushi was one of his favorite foods, mainly due to being around it for so long. Being born on a peninsula, it was hard to avoid the seafood diet. He thought for a moment, "Sadly no. The most I have traveled would be just into the woods near my home. I would go further, but even I know I lack the survival skills, to last more than a few days." He looked down at his sandals and looked back up at Andou, "That's what you are here for, right? To teach us how to survive in the game that is life?" He liked traveling into the wild, but seeing more than the frozen tundra around him had intrigued him for quite some time.

((Yeah, I'm a dummy and didn't post my profile until now.))
In a matter of minutes, it seemed that the best and the worst the academy had to offer had passed in front of the students' eyes. First there was Taka: uninterested in their future and with the teaching talents of a fruit fly. Kuri was about as impressed with him as their new teacher, Andou, was with the students. This teacher seemed cold, calculating, and far from the nurturing type. Probably not the best choice to deal with kids, but since they were there to learn to kill, that hardly mattered.
Andou seemed a little short for an adult, but then, to Kuri, everyone was short for their age. He bowed as the teacher addressed him, aptly by 'tall kid'. He didn't have to think twice about what his ambitions were, but apparently, neither did Fubuki. He suspected he aught to wait for his classmate to finish before answering their sensei's questions.
"My name, Andou-sensei, is Kuriarare Saihoushi. Maybe I don't look like much to you, but that's because I'm new. But I'm a student, and I'm ready to learn. Like yourself, I enjoy blades, and there is one I'd like to ask you about later. That very sword is my greatest ambition, Sensei. It is mine, and my father's, and his father's, and his father's."
You could tell by the way his facial expressions changed, from the playful smile of a child to the sober mask of a boy who has his heart set on a specific path, that he took motivation very seriously, just as his father before him.

"Oh, really? I will make some for you sometime," Andou said, rapidly gaining interest. A friend of sushi was a friend of his. This boy and him seemed to share relevant interests and Andou found himself warming to him. Actually, he was easing back into teaching easier than he thought he would.
"Of course," he stated simply. "I will teach you not only wilderness survival skills, but also physical and mental strength. That is, if you're willing to learn."
At this point, the tall kid spoke up, having waited for Fubuki to finish, which was quite polite. Saihoushi, huh... That name sounded familiar, and the timeline fit. Interesting. "That's good," Andou more declared than replied to Kuri. "It seems that we'll have as a good a time as is possible together. And now, it's time to start your training. Dig the well before you are thirsty," Andou quoted. "Come closer and watch carefully."
He was leaning so much on the table now that he was practically sitting on it. Slowly he gathered some of his chakra into his hands until they were glowing an electric blue. "You may have tried this at home already, especially if you come from a shinobi family. You might also have realised how entertaining it can be. I just want you to try playing with it for a bit, so you can get accustomed to the feeling of chakra. You might think that it's a soft training exercise, but chakra control is a fundamental skill for shinobi. And it'll ease you into our schedule for today.
"Pushing chakra through the body feels different for everyone. For myself, it warms me up and gets my muscles going. You might have a different effect. One of my friends says that he gets a tingly feeling when he summons chakra. No matter what feeling you have, you're just going to have to get used to it."
Chakra Molding Roll: d20 + Chakra Control DC: 10 + your Chakra Control Successes: 10/10 Special: -1 Cp per post. If you run out of Cp, you have to make a resting post. I think you guys are familiar with training, but I'll explain it anyway in case. This basically means that you have to make training posts, that is roll a dice in each post. If the dice result is over 10, you get 1 success. Get 10 successes to complete the training. Note that you won't get Chakra Control rewards from this exercise, only exp, but Andou will set an extra credit exercise (basically a repeat of this) for homework if you want to train for that Chakra Control point.

After he finished giving his instructions, Andou waited for his students to begin. Keeping one eye on them, he drew a roll of thin metal wire from a pocket, somewhere in his yukata. He unrolled a short length from the bundle, cut it with his chakra, and studied it for a moment. In Kumogakure, there had been lots of people who fought with metal weapons. Kumo produced Kumo steel after all, and most of the people there had the Lightning affinity - perfect for sending through metals. There, he'd encountered a femme fatale who fought with metal wire. Although Andou was aware of a jutsu that allowed one to strengthen and sharpen the metal wire, he had previously only seen it as a utility tool and a trap setting aid more than a weapon. And now he was curious as to what he could apply the technique to.
Humming, drawn into the task, but not completely ignoring his students, Andou summoned a tiny bit of chakra, making it stick to the metal wire and collapse in upon itself. The point of this attempted manipulation was so precise that unless you were experienced with chakra, or unless you were Andou himself you would not be able to see the faint blue glow from the wire.

Watching his teacher using her chakra molding exercises, Kuri could tell that he would be a much better teacher. He cared enough to relate to the students, he still remembered what it was like being a kid, and even though he would prove to be a bit strict from time to time, it would be because the man cared.
He was right, too. Kuri had practiced at home before. His mother had taught him soon before she died, how the flow of chakra worked. How physical energy and spiritual energy churned together to create something new something that could manifest itself in physical form. Chakra. Kuri took a deep breath, closing his eyes as he exhaled, bringing his hands together to form a tiger seal. In the next few seconds, he could feel a familiar tingling in his fingertips.

Jut like when his mother had tried to teach him at home, after the tinglies came the light headed woozy feeling. He stopped and pressed his fingers to his temples, trying to ease himself as he took a step back and leaned on the wall. "Sensei, I think something is wrong with me . . ." he muttered weakly as he slid down onto the floor. His head in his hands, he stared down at the floor, wondering why the hell this always happened.

Tenshi placed his index finger and middle finger up and tried to focus the chakra into them, however, nothing came about. His face strained as he held his breath trying to do what he was commanded. He felt if he pushed the pressure any further his blood vessels would pop and his eyes burst from their sockets. A bead of sweat dripped from his forehead. He pushed harder... and harder... and...! He gasped for air as his vision went blurry, his body tingling and feeling numb.

[@Ductape: Of course! That was the intention smile ]
Andou's task was a very basic advanced genin level task, so even though he was not one for ninjutsu, he accomplished it easily. Still, the wire did not look at threatening as the Kumo kunoichi's. Of course, you could argue that it was merely hiding behind a facade of mediocrity, but even to himself Andou wouldn't pretend that it was so. Instead, he focused on drawing more chakra from within himself and infusing the wire with it. Time to experiment and find out just how much chakra this length of wire could take.
He briefly switched his attention to his students who were now tackling the task. Fubuki seemed to be having a little trouble with it and Andou recognised the classic mistake of trying to hard. "Fubuki, don't push it," he advised, leaving the metal wire for now and placing it on the table. He made his way over to Tenshi and placed a steadying hand on his shoulder. "Don't try to squeeze out the chakra. It's already there. Instead, you must learn to know your chakra pathways intimately so you can draw the chakra out most efficiently. When thirsty, follow the river instead of digging through the ground," he quoted. Andou knew that Fubukis were not lacking in chakra, so he was confident that the child would get it eventually.
He turned to Kuri and was surprised. "Oh, you already know the Tiger hand seal?" he asked him. He could see that Saihoushi had successfully summoned up some chakra and it was clear that he'd had previous instruction. Suddenly the boy staggered and Andou was there instantly. He placed a hand on his shoulder and helped him back up. "You are chakra exhausted," he stated clinically. "This is either due to low chakra reserves or a blockage somewhere in your system. You're still young and growing, so you can work on both of these issues. Make sure not to overexert yourself and rest whenever you feel woozy."
[+4 to Tenshi and Kuri's next roll. You can help (or hurt..) each other's roll attempts too. This will give you extra exp. Yay for abusing the system!]

Kuri shook his head back and forth, bringing him back to his senses as Andou helped him stand again. He listened to his sensei's words of wisdom as he dusted himself off. "So this happens to everyone when they start out? That makes sense." he said with a shrug, setting out to try again.
"My mother taught me the seal when she taught me how to mold chakra," Kuri said softly, bowing his had a moment as he took a deep breath. He extended his right arm, and then his left before bringing his hands together to form the tiger seal again. "She said that chakra is just a mix between two energies. Everyone has these energies, physical, and spiritual. However, it takes talent to bring these two together to form chakra. Those with the talent are able to become shinobi and perform great feats. I want to be able to that."

After Kuri held his pose, he started to get light headed again. Not wanting to come close to passing out like last time, he stopped before he reached his limit, leaning on the wall for support just in case as he looked over to his classmate. He remembered when his mom first taught him, how his first reaction was to try and force it out too.
"You know it helps to visualize. When I try and mold chakra, I think of mixing two ingredients together into the same bowl. One at my right hand, the other at my left. All you have to do is pour them together and stir."

Kuri decided it was time to test his limits. He wanted to see if he could focus chakra elsewhere besides his hands. He had heard of shinobi pushing chakra into their feet, making them able to climb walls or walk on water. He figured the first step would be to try and move chakra from his hands to his feet. He began the same as he always had, forming the tiger seal as he focused chakra into his fingertips. Then, he envisioned the stream running up his arms to his shoulders. Interestingly enough, he felt the tingling rise as well.
He closed his eyes again, drawing the chakra in towards his core. The feeling he got was much more than a tingling now, as his heart started to race. He didn't know if it was natural, but he knew he was learning to better control his chakra. He held it for a second until the rush got too much for him. He dropped his focus as he fell to his knees, panting like he had been running for miles. "Woah . . . What a rush . . ."

[You could but definitely not to as much extent as in other games, and I have been trying to make every trait useful. Thank God Andou never became Kage because he has the Charisma of a rock which would have led to loads of wars no doubt.]
Andou merely nodded. He didn't actually remember what it was like for himself but decided that it wouldn't be prudent to tell the boy that.
"I see," he said as Kuri told him about his mother. Being in this situation himself, he could sense the unique tone of someone - the odd mixture of reverence and sadness - who had experienced the loss of his parents. "Your mother was right," he informed Kuri. "Some of the best shinobi have not had gargantuan chakra resources, but merely a highly attuned ability to manipulate their energies. But of course, you don't need to be excellent at chakra manipulation to become a shinobi, although it does help," he added matter-of-factly. He himself was a prime example of this statement after all.
He watched as Kuri started to try some new things. He was certainly a experimental one. Andou returned to the front table to pick up his wire. The chakra had trickled out without him there to keep up a constant current, so he had to work on reinfusing it again, keeping an eye on both his students at the same time. Saihoushi had pushed his limits again, but he seemed fine this time, so Andou didn't go over to assist him. Instead he turned his attention to Tenshi. "You all right there, Fubuki?"

While waiting for a reply, and requests for help should his students ever feel it necessary, Andou shifted his attention back to the benign piece of wire. It was still looking decidedly unimpressive to his eye, but that might be because he was a battle hardened veteran instead of a bright eyed young student. Nonetheless there was still a dullness about the wire that was not about its lustre and how polished it was (which was not very much) but about how dangerous it seemed. It just didn't seem very kill worthy, unlike that kunoichi's.
As far as Andou could tell, he had put as much chakra as he could into the wire. At least, he couldn't put any more into and around it without some chakra escaping from the "bubble" of chakra that had gathered around it. Maybe he wasn't making the chakra sharp and sleek enough. Well, time to try kneading the dough a bit more, simultaneously trying not to break it...
