Yamamoto Kikue

PostPosted: Wed Aug 02, 2006 12:49 pm

Kikue fought to keep her own emotions in check. She gave Natsumi a small smile, and then...she hugged her, tenderly. Something she had done so rarely in her own life. She could smell Natsumi's hair, a touch of ginger and lavender -- it must be whatever she washed it with. It smelled pretty. Kikue pulled back after a few moments, her hands on the sides of Natsumi's shoulders. Kikue didn't know how old she was, but by looking at the girl's face was any clue, she was probably young, too. Which means, it might have all been an accident...the baby.

Yet Kikue could never allow herself to be so cruel as to let a decision in Natsumi's past -- a decision that Natsumi may or may not regret, even now -- keep a friendship from forming between them.

She smiled softly again. "It's okay, Natsumi-chan. I could only guess at such a thing...but I am not afraid of you. I want to be close to you. I support you. I promise." Kikue held out her pinky finger, the first half of a promise that she was ready to make.

Natsumi blinked as she was pulled into a hug, smiling behind her hands. She would have returned the gesture, but the way she had positioned herself ceased her from moving her arms now that she had been hugged. It was comforting though... Just what the doctor ordered, so to speak. She'd longed for a hug for days now... So her eyes watered even more now that she'd gotten one.

She gave a soft sniff as she was let go, still covering her face. She nodded some in thanks, moving her hands at Kikue's pinky offer with a wise, wobbling, smile. She paused to white at her eyes with one hand, and the other to take Kikue's pinky and shake it with her own. She sniffed once, giving a tiny pause as her mind ran over something... Before she realized, who really cared about formalities? They were turning into mutants. With that, she reached out, wrapping her arms around Kikue and giving a soft held-back sob. "Thankyou... I'll.. Do the same." She wasn't exactly sure what she could promise Kikue that woud amount to the same meaning that she had just done... But.. Atleast she could offer.

Kikue held her back, allowing herself the brief second of support. She'd couldn't remember the last time she'd given someone a hug, or had been given one. It was a distant, faint memory. Yet this was real; was now. So she held on.

She let Natsumi break them apart at her own pace. Kikue could only guess what Natsumi was feeling -- as if the shock of the reality of the Island wasn't bad enough, to be feeling the strain of a pregnancy at the same time? Kikue was young, but she understood much. That very thought was heavy on her mind. Natsumi must regularly be a wreck.

After she let go, Kikue broke into a smile. She didn't know everything that Natsumi would need, but she didn't think staying out for so long in the sun was going to help. "It's getting late," Kikue observed, nodding at the sun above them. "Maybe we should get something to eat...then sleep." Kikue suppressed a yawn on the word. Her altered schedule was making it hard to be up constantly at the times "normal" people were. A sheepish look flashed across her face. "The leopard makes it hard for me to stay up if it isn't near dawn, or dusk."

Natsumi clung for a moment, the last hug she'd had was whens he left for "America." Her parents, her friends, her brothers... She missed them all so much. She wanted to know how they were doing and... Wait. Taro... Taro had seen them.
She carefully let go of Kikue, stuffing that thought away for later. Right now.. Kikue was here, Kikue was her new friend.

"Aa.. Yes.." She sniffed once more, whiping at her eyes again. For the moment, she had forgotten the baking heat of the sun, but that feeling was back now. She vaugly hoped she wouldn't start to smell any time soon. That sounds good. She gave a small laugh at the mention of the strange sleep habits, Kikue sure did know alot about her animal... It made Natsumi curious to know her own. But then she'd have to go ask, and she still didn't feel up to that. "I wonder if mines been whats waking me up at night." She quickly explained the laugh with a smile. With that, she turned, looking back the way they'd came... Suprised at just how far they'd gotten. "I guess we should get our shoes, huh?"

Kikue smiled and laughed a little herself. "Maybe it is. I didn't even think of it at first...Nita pointed it out to me. Then I read a bit more and realized that must be what it is. It's still strange, though." Natsumi's wondering thought reminded Kikue that the girl didn't know her animal. Some type of lizard, she's thought. The scales attested to that. But what did all of this, the Island, mean for Natsumi's child? ...You can't start to worry about this, Kikue. You need to keep yourself focused.

She nodded, and began ambling back towards her sandals with Natsumi. The sand looked like it must be baking; Kikue was glad for the coolness of the water. Once she was to her sandals, she dipped her feet back into the water one last time before slipping them on. In the angled light, wet with water, her claws stood out starkly. ...

Kikue pushed the thought away, waiting contentedly as Natsumi got herself ready. While she wasn't looking forward to the walk through the oppressive jungle, at least her room was on the other side of it. She already longed for the coolness, as well as darkness, of it.

Emelyn
Emelyn did not repond to Thom's remarks about trying to return to the village. As far as she was concerned, the subject was closed. That... and she couldn't hope to explain any further to the man a subject that had become so important to her- how her decision to live in the wild and her subsequent troubles because of it had become a sort of framework for her life. She'd focused on surviving, on contesting Moreau's hypocrisy- first, to find some way to give herself comfort after feeling so lost and abandoned during the lockout, and after what had transpired between she and Ambrose. Even Moreau had promised to make her life worthwhile- to take care of her, give her precedence... and while she didn't care for the preferential treatment- she did hope that it meant she wasn't alone. But after she'd found herself unceremoniously dumped into the wild, cold and alone... she'd realized the true meaning of what it was to be abandoned. She had told this to no one- for, truly, she didn't quite understand it as being within the numbers of her motives- but one of the reasons she had refused to return to the village with the others... was due to that gnawing, cold feeling in her gut as she'd stood on the edge- watching the others happily returning to their showers and their comfortable beds. It meant not only that they were easily bought, but as a symbol that it could only be a matter of time before Em might be abandoned- yet again.

But she knew that there was no way she could simply walk back into the village as if nothing happened. It would mean that Moreau had won- and, more than that- she would have cast aside a half a year of her life to a cause that obviously wasn't worth fighting for. It was too painful a thought to dwell upon... and Thom... would never understand. Emelyn barely did, herself.

Instead, her words revolved around his.

"...I doubt you're a... dickhead." She said, smiling genuinely at trying to force the imagery from her mind. "And no one makes a good impression on everyone here. ...Having 'enemies' peppers the boredom. I think people make up reasons to be offended just to have something else to focus on. It probably just means that you're interesting enough to be that new focus."

He wisely made no further effort to press the matter of the village. If her reasons were truely that strong for staying away, they he wouldn't fault her. It was her choice, after all. They couldn't make everyone stay in duplexes. That was one hold they still had on their own lives. ...Thom just didn't like sleeping on the ground. Beds were wonderful, and so he would risk living in quarters granted by the labs.

Thom raised a brow at her explanation, then laughed aloud, shaking his head in amusement. "Well, that's one way of lookin' at it." Still chuckling, he glanced back to Emelyn, grinning a challenge. "Who 'ates you, then? Let's see how 'interestin' you are."

It was a bizarre question- but one that made Emelyn laugh. After her tearful episode- her fur was still moist, and it felt strange to couple that feeling with genuine laughter.

"I guess... I'm not very interesting. I can't think of anyone who hates me, off the top of my head. Ambrose's girlfriend isn't too fond of me- but I haven't seen her since January, and I bet she's probably gotten over it. ...I suppose that means I'm very boring, that I can't even come up with enemies." She smiled, letting Thom know she was kidding.

"Ah, well there y'go." He sat back with a nod, letting his hands fall to the sand as if she'd just proved his point. "You've just disproved everythin' y'said. If someone as interestin' as yourself can get by without a single person 'atin' her, then there's somethin' wrong with your theory."

Emelyn only smiled, and gave a gracious nod. Her fish strips still sat in her lap where she'd dropped them, earlier- salting the fur on her legs ever so slightly.

"Well, it's sweet of you to say so. But trust me- opinions change all the time around here. Someone who is a pariah one day can be redeemed the next. There is too much... change... going on to keep feelings straight, one way or another."

New RP~ ((Feel free to continue Emelyn and Thom, don't mind us XD))

Ian dragged himself along the beach and stared out across the water. He had told himself he would swim, but could he with his leg the way it was? The deer tightened his grip on his staff and decided that he would try later, in the lake where the water was less likely to drag him under. And he would stay in the shallow portions.

Looking behind he saw the strange tracks he made in the sand. It was hard to take in. Hooves, not feet, or were they still feet because he had been human once? It was all so confusing and hard to take in.

Colche

As usual, she hummed as she walked, singing the odd word as she went along. She hopped through the trees with a giggle and a bound, leaping accross a fallen pine tree without a second glance. Agylity had come with the last transformation , she found she could jump higher and longer and run even faster than she used to, of course discovering these things was usually just by doing,s he never did them on purpose but they made her laugh when they happened.

Looking down at the log she grinned in a cattish manner and turned her blue eyed gaze down the beach.

An old, but familiar scent wafted to her nostrils. She ahd not seen the man for a very long time, he was certainly looking very fuzzy now, like herself she supposed. Would he appreciate one of her exhuberant hugs? Looking thoughtful she padded on down the beach, what if it wasn't who she thought it was? Her nose never let her down though "Ian!" Colche shouted her coice sweet, gentle and full of a happy hyper bounce as it always was.

Ian started t the sound of a voice but upon turning around and spying Colche his tired face broke into a smile. Colche looked much more the cheetah than when he had last seen her, "Colche!" his voice sounded tired but he was happy to see her, her joy tended to be contagious and Ian really needed something to cheer him up.

The deer saw how much of a cheetah she was and he wondered if she had anymore changing to do, he hoped not, she was already quite a bit like a cheetah.

Colche grinned, She noticed ian was tired so she simply padded up in her usual boingy manner and hugged the dear man with a click of her tongue and a happy puurr. "not seed for never" she stated simply her perfect baby blue eyes dancing happily. The man looked different, he was still ian though,s he could smell him past the new fur and antlers. Tilting her head in a very cattsh manner her face broke in to a huge grin "Bambi!" She stated with a sweet giggle echoeing from her lips, the giggle mingled with her puurr creating as bubbly sweet sort of sound, her glassy blue eyes dancing. It had been a long time since she had seen ian, but he was definately a bambi.

Her English had gotten better since he had seen her last, and he returned the cheetahs hug, a bit surprised when she purred. Ian was not expecting that. And at her reference to Bambi Ian couldn't help but smile. It had been years since he had seen that movie. He didn't remember much, just that Bambi was a deer.

"Sure Colche," he agreed to make the girl happy. "I'm almost just like Bambi now." He didn't know how she did it, she was always so happy, and she made other people happy. He could already feel his dark mood lifting. "How have you been doing Colche?"

Colche grinned, she understood people so much better now, even more so since the arrival of her own personal tutor, Josh. Grinning happily her long tail swayed behind her her ears cocking forwards her long black hair rolling over her tawny and black marked body . "I goods" she puurred again her sweet blue eyes as innocent and sweet as ever "Gots me a learny man" she giggles, She loved refarreing to Josh as her 'learny man' after all the man was teaching her alot. She owed him her new grasp on language.
