Katsuo was enraged...up until she heard something about a book. As soon as she heard that, the hope and desperation, the very need to know about herself, lay open on her face in the same honesty and purity that a young child has. She rushed forward, forgetting that she still hadn't dressed herself, and gripped his shoulder. "You have a book that I wrote? About my past? Where?" She didn't care that this kid kept disbelieving her- over a year of uncertainty and apprehension, and now this opportunity standing in front of her.

Roy slapped ehr hand away from his shoulder, "Don't touch me you slut! I don't know where you've been!" his voice was venomous and dripping with all the pain he felt. "You want that tome of lies, fine, you can find it burning in the middle of TOWN! Along with ALL your s**t that I kept." he dashed from the room and moved to go collect her belongings. He was going to hold true to his word.
Ryoko...on the other hand, stood there silently. She held no signs of anger anymore, only sadness. "You really are a blank slate aren't you...not a memory to sleep with huh?" She said...she had realized that, if this had been Kinami, she wouldn't have wanted that book back. Nor would she have been so eager to gain it back. nd her eyes...they held purity...something Ryoko had learned to read long ago but Roy was still learning...or maybe he had learned and jsut didn't care. Either way, she coldn't let Roy do this.
"Come on...I know where he'll burn your stuff. It'll draw the least attention...Put on some clothes and lets go..."
Ryoko would lead the woman to a portion of town that was still a bit underconstruction after the war so it was practically abandoned. Sure enough, a pile of scrap wood had been set up in a triangle formation and the scent of lighterfluid was strong. Ryoko saw Roy on top of a pile of Kinami's things...reading the book...she vanished tolet them be alone...

Katsuko shook with anger again, but at the woman's words, she stopped and looked over, bewildered. Was this woman being truly honest? She looked into her eyes, then decided that she was telling the truth. "Thank you," she said simply.
She turned to Ataru. "Will you wait for me?" she asked him quietly. Things were so uncertain now, and she was exhausted from the ride her emotions had taken. She needed his reassurance, or memories or not, she didn't think she could do this.

Ataru was silent for a moment, and then answered in a whisper, "Will you be coming back to me?"
He looked up at her, slowly moving his eyes all the way up from her toes to her glorious face, trying to ingraine every detail into his memory, as though it would be the last time he saw her.
"If you don't want me to come with you, I'll be waiting, more than likely in a different room... possibly sleeping, if I can find enough peace to do so."

Katsuko nodded, then smiled. "I'll write myself a note, alright? My memories can't come back that fast, though, so I ought to be back soon." She moved to a table and scribbled a note, which she stuck into her cleavage once she was dressed. Then, turning back to Ataru, she strode to him and gave him a soft kiss. "I'll be back. I promise." Then she left to follow the woman.
The place was interesting, and Katsuko remembered as much as she could of how they got there so that she could return to Ataru. However, when she saw him standing there and was consequently left alone afterwards, she suddenly felt at a loss. She should have had Ataru go with her. He would've helped, calmed her nerves, made her feel more at ease.
Instead of going back to get him, though, she slowly approached. She was terrified- the kid held what appeared to be her past in his hand, and one wrong move would destroy everything. She didn't want to scare him away, and she was terrified she would. Her emotions were playing havoc with her system, causing her to tremble even as she cried. She was still reeling from the aftermath of her nightmare, and all of this drama added on top of it made everything that much worse.
She made sure that she was heard, since for all she knew the kid was on autopilot and would attack her or do something to wreck the book. She didn't want that to happen. She wanted to scream at the kid, to get him to understand what she was going through. She wanted to rage at the world for doing this to her. She wanted to run to Ataru, but instead of doing any of that, she put all of her emotion into one word. "Please."

At the sound of her voice, an equally strained sound would follow. The sound of paper ripping from the spine of a book. One page at a time the boy began to rip pages from the book. tearing it to shreads. Ripping it and casting it to the wind. With each tear he began more and more livid with his actions. He ceased tearing single pages and bega to tear 2 or 3 pages at a time and even just chunks full of paper where ripped and thrown to the wind.
When complete, he let out a sigh and tossed the emptied spine of the book onto the pile of wood and then looked over to her. "You looked just like that the day you gave me the book...remember that?! No...I suppose since your game is still going on, you wouldn't..." he took a deep sigh and looked off to the side and tucked his knees up to his chest and just sat there looking off to the side.
Ryoko returned to the Hotel. It didn't take long for her to find the guy's room...after all she had the owner of the hotel under her thumb as well. She grinned a little thinking how much she was like a mob boss or something. At any rate, she would knock, this time, to gain his attetion. Not that she cared mind you since she burst in anyway without waiting for his respondse.
She closed the door behind herself and sighed, "Look, I think you need to know the full story of whats going on here and I had better tell you now before I knock your block off for calling me a bad mother..." she smiled faintly and began to explain Roy and Kinami's past. Mostly Kinami's as far as she knew it. She went into as much detail as possible. Especially about her son and his feelings. She felt the man should know before HE judged...again.

Katsuko watched in horror, her heart breaking more and more with each shred. "No..." she whispered. That was her chance to find out who she was, to discover who her parents were, how she had grown up, the happy times, the bad times, the reasons she woke screaming each night. He was taking away the only means she had of finding out who she was, just like that, with no regard to her feelings at all.
Her limbs went numb as she slumped to the ground. She couldn't stop the tears from flowing down her cheeks. She couldn't understand how someone could be this heartless, this cruel. It didn't make any sense- in her mind, nobody was as twisted and sadistic as this person.
Her head fell forward. That was it. She could search and hunt as long as she wanted to, and she knew deep down, in the place where even the basest instincts are still honed and trained as skills, that she would be missing the essential pieces of what had made her who she had been. She was now, officially, without a name, without a past, without a family, without a place in the world. She might as well not even exist. That book had been her Self, and now it was gone.
This time, as she shook and trembled, it was from the heart-wrenching sobs that she couldn't supress. She didn't want to block them. There was no need to anymore. She didn't need to search. She didn't need to hope. She didn't even need to really live anymore. That tiny child had just destroyed the whole reason for her existence, and she would stake her pitiful, memory-less life on the fact that he wasn't even sorry for doing so.

*** Ataru sighed, a terrible bone-rattling sigh, and slowly picked himself up off the bed. He drudgingly put his pants on, didn't bother with a shirt, and packed up the rest of his and Katsuko's belongings into their pack. He put the pack on his back, and shifted his weight to hold it a bit more easily. Ataru walked out of the room, evading broken glass with his bare feet, and walked down the stairs. When he saw the lone nightshift clerk, he approached her and asked for a new room. "Some punks came flying in the window... playing baseball, I think. They disrupted mine and my partner's sleep quite rudely. There's glass everywhere, not to mention the hole in the side of the building." "Yes sir, here's the key to room 156, it's just up another floor from yours. We're sorry about that, it... happens, from time to time." "It's alright. I'll leave a note for my partner in the previous room, make sure it is left there, alright?" Ataru went back up the the old room, jotted something down in his neat script, and left for the new room.
He couldn't sleep. He knew he wouldn't be able to. But there was nothing he could do. He knew she could take care of herself, physically at least. And this was her time to learn about her past. She didn't need him with her for this. She would be OK. Don't worry about it. Ataru lay awake in the bed, all lights off, the quiet suffocating.
"When sorrows come, they come not single spies, but in battalions." ***

Roy sat there looking to her and arched a brow. He was wondering what she was going on about but then realized what it must have looked like...he sighed deeply and then reached behind himself.
A loud thud would resound in front of the woman. It was a hand bound book. All the pages were in pristine condition and the lettering was all handwritten. Her handwritting...or at least what USE to be her handwritting. "I didn't have the heart to burn your things...I realized that...if your memries are gone...then I waisted a year of my life trying to get you and 2 more years searching for you...These are all I have left f you...the other you....I read that book....every night for 3 months....from cover to cover over and over...thinking maybe osmething in your past would light the way to where you were...but it never did...you never came home.....you still haven't..."
he took a deep sigh..."I...I just want you to be happy...so...I hope you have a good life with that guy ok....if you wanna ask me something...nows the time. Cause I don't think I'll be strong enough to look you in the face after this...It hurts loosing the woman you love every time you look at someone you know....

Katsuko's arms reached around herself. She remembered that book, remembered writing it. Her mind was moving too quickly, so as she gently rocked back and forth, she asked him quietly, "What happened to me? What does it say?" She didn't think she could let go, to reach out and open that book to read its contents. If she let go of herself, she'd fall to pieces.

Roy looked to her...what the hell was this about? She went to allt hat and now she won't even pick it up? What was her issue? "You don't want it now? Dammit...you knw how long it took me to actually figure out if I was gonna give you that damn thing?" he soon calmed himself....he took a deep calming breath and looked away again.
"You were born into the Taida family...the family that rules Iwgakure...you were the last Tsuchikage...ruler of the villiage..." he went into detail about the girl's past...from point A to point triple Z, he went through. Took a good deal of time to tell it all but he didn't stop...he just spoke...he never looked to ehr to see her reaction...it hurt to much to think about it...
