Maia wasn't sure Toby wasn't making these up as he went; but he'd always seemed to have trouble making shapes in the stars. She smiled at him. "You're getting better on making constellations," She said. "They match the spots on my pelt."

"Do they? That's cute." He hadn't seen the pelt enough times to make the connection, plus it was so much smaller than her human form. He drew a line down her nose and tapped the tip with slightly puckered lips, then grinned and caught her eyes again.

Maia took Toby's hand as he tapped the tip of her nose and leaned in to kiss him. How was she supposed to respond to these compliments? A thank you didn't seem to be the right reaction.

Toby was never sure how to react to compliments himself. Usually he just laughed awkwardly. He hadn't expected Maia to have any better idea but he'd said something that had needed to be said. It was true. Maia was beautiful, and not just generic fae-luck beautiful.
He fell into the kiss and continued it softly and languidly. There was no need to rush, and he had no ulterior motives.

When the kiss ended, Maia was smiling at him. "You stole my first one," She said. "At the terminal." She paused and gave him another quick kiss. She lifted a hand to run it through his hair.

Toby looked mildly surprised for a moment, but only mildly. He was still humming with pleasant warmth from the kiss.
"Did I? I'm sorry." He accepted the little kiss and then sighed happily through is nose. He tilted his head back happily at the little hair-brush. It felt nice. His hand gently massaged Maia's lower back.

Sorry? Maia smirked at him. "I was going to give it to you anyway," she informed him, and demonstrated by giving him another quick kiss. She fell silent, and instead of directing her gaze upward, seemed focused on him.

Toby's smile widened and he rested his head on his free hand, the other now coming up to caress Maia's face. What he wanted to say was still inappropriate, so he kept it to himself and let his loving eyes and soft fingers do the talking.

Maia wanted to tell Toby how she felt about him; but would it scare him away? Saying she had feelings for him had prompted him to reject her. "Remember that first time at the lake?" Maia asked, letting her hand drop from his hair.

"Hm?" Had he kissed her at the lake? He didn't think so. They'd had fun there, though. He distinctly remembered a splash battle. His eyes were hooding ever so slightly as Maia's hands moved anywhere on his body. He wanted to tangle together but wasn't sure if that might frighten her. If she'd never kissed a man before, even low levels of intimacy may frighten her and so he remained firmly beside her.

Maia kissed his cheek. "I told Dari about feelings for you then," she said, moving to snuggle closer. "I didn't know what it was at first. He helped." She brushed a hand against his cheek.

"He told me some of it," Toby said. Okay, so maybe a little footsie wasn't so scary? His socked foot found Maia's. "I'm glad the b*****d knew what to do. I'm glad he did this."

"He knows you." Maia smiled at Toby. Dari had been firm that they shouldn't give up, that Toby would eventually give in. "What'd he tell you?" She asked. What had Dari said?
She wasn't sure how to react to Toby's foot, but she bumped it back with her own.

Whatever was natural was good footsie as far as Toby was concerned. Of course his was a bit more experienced.
"He told me he noticed my feelings, and that I was being a d**k about it... in much nicer words, of course! And that he had arranged for you to go away to test me. To make me be less of a d**k." He smiled and kissed the tip of Maia's nose.
"I had him pinned to the floor, he didn't have much of a choice."

"Dari notices everything," Maia smiled. The alien was her best friend, but it wasn't hard to notice there was little he didn't see. "No secrets here!" She smiled at him. "Yeah, he told me his plan during class. Said no one would suspect I wasn't just going home."
Of course he did. Maia took his hand and gave it a squeeze. "I'm not leaving again," she said.
