(( Not a problem. ^^ ))
"No, of course not, my mistake!" She claimed with a smirk upon her face. "I mean, of course they aren't so different from humans. They just have huge fangs that they use for killing people and drinking their blood, have super human strength, are undead, can't walk into the sunlight, so on, so fourth. I could go on but I think you probably already know this and the list can be annoying to list when you know someone already knows about it." She smiled to him and was all too aware that this wasn't the best place to talk, however, what exactly was going to happen? It wasn't as though they were discussing 'top secret' information that could not be heard by anyone but them. "It is pretty heated. Wait. You mean Alasdair's been here?" 'Der, he's been here, that'd explain the squad of vampires at Adrian's disposal, dumb a**.'
"Joking is perfectly fine when around me," Meredith assured with a smirk, "but you can't expect me to not play along. After all, jokes are fun and to carry on with them is fun for me, you're not the only one who gets to have some fun." She listened to his claim about his parents having been hunters in Boston and thought about what he was saying. "And where are your parents now, may I ask? Dead? Alive? Maimed? Handi-capped? Paralyzed? Psychotic?"

"Yeah," Jack confirmed the appearance of the new, yet infamous vampire, "Alasdair, I hear, has been very, very..... bad. Even for a vampire's standards. In a few years, who knows, he may become an Elder of this Coven or a foreign one. Who knows?" Jack smiled. Edith liked to talk, and did plenty of it. Her ranting was appreciated. She was definitely the first to speak with him casually. Jack spoke with many people, but it all felt so distant. He shook his head again at the thought of his parents. He pushed his sunglasses up his nose to hide the small tear welling up. "Dead."

Tiaret walks into the park and sighs to herself. "This has been an uneventfull night." As she continued to walk she noticed two people talking. Best not to disturb them...or should I? This could get interesting. she thought to herself. "Excuse me do you have the time sir?" she said as she tried her hardest to hide her fangs and walk up to the poelple not knowing if their friend or foe.

"Oh Lord," Meredith exclaimed with a shudder, "that'd be hell on earth since that guy's kick-a** when he wants to be. That'd just be- it'd suck a**, yeah, that's what it'd be. Hm, maybe that means us hunters need to step up our game and show everyone that we can be bad too." She smiled at the thought and then smirked to him, revealing her fangs. "No worries, though, I'll kick his a** if he thinks of trying anything too bold. And trying to hurt my hunters and turn them against me is definitely something worth kicking his a** for. Right now, though, it just sucks because I'd get served butt-kicking for dinner tonight if I decided to try anything. No offense but I don't think you're able to take out an entire squad of rifle-wielding vampires but who knows, there are a lot of crazy things that mofos seem to be able to do these days so I'm not about to say you can't before I even know for myself."
So long as the person was not on Eden's bad side, she talked to everyone casually unless they gave her a reason not to, such as being an absolute a** hole. There were more reasons but being an a** hole was probably the most common reason that someone would be on Edith's bad side. As for Jack, he seemed alright so far. He had a sense of humour and he wasn't a downer like some psychologists tended to be. He also didn't talk down to her like he knew everything better than her and he didn't talk to her like she was one of his patients so all was good so far. "Damn." Meredith bit her lip, somewhat to punish herself for asking such a stupid question. "I'll bet that sucks a**, not that I can say I know exactly how it feels. I don't see my mom anymore since I moved here but I miss her a hell of a lot and if anything happened to her, I'd hate myself for not being there to say goodbye. It's probably one of my biggest fears. My parents dying and me not knowing about it because I can't let them contact me because that puts them at risk of being hunted down in this God forsaken city."
Eden allowed silence to overcome them for a little wee bit until she grew curious and decided that she'd risk asking what'd happened to them. Likely something had happened to them as hunters since he'd said that was their job. "So were your parents killed on the job, then? Or was it something else?" She hoped that they hadn't committed suicide or anything because nothing was worse than reminding a psychologist of all people that their parents had committed suicide and they hadn't been able to stop it. Psychologists were kind of freaks that way. They always needed to help people and when they failed, a lot of them took it much too much to heart and it bothered them forever. However, she wasn't sure what his answer would be though she figured the most likely one would be that they'd been KIA or something like that. Perhaps MIA but something to do with the fact that they'd been hunters. The more she thought about it, the more she thought it was probably a bad idea to ask the question in the first place, however, she decided to stick with it.
That was when they were interrupted by some vampire chick that was attempting to hide her fangs as though it was going to assist her in not being recognized by anyone. Instead of allowing Jack a chance to answer, she decided to answer herself, "It's the evening at current and the sun's just at the horizon, so I'd assume that it's about ... Um, eight, nine o'clock?" She didn't appreciate that the vampire had asked Jack as opposed to her and had pretended as though she didn't exist. She also hadn't appreciated that the vampire had completely and totally interrupted their conversation without even excusing herself or anything. Edith may have grown up on the streets but she at least had some decent manners, unlike this lady. Naturally, Meredith had placed herself between Jack and the female vampire while talking to her and keeping her occupied. She did not trust her at all since she was no hunter. "Now go get a meal elsewhere, vampire."

"I've gathered that much about Alasdair," Jack claimed with a nod, rubbing his hands together vigorously. He felt awfully cold at the moment, almost as if they were being watched awfully closely. The two "awfuls" simply for further emphasize. It wasn't a feeling the inexperienced (in a manner of speaking) hunter did not like, and reinforced the reasons why he went to college for an education, hoping so bad for some sort of "Office Job." With an extremely large salary and a nice car. Maybe booze.... No, my father died from indulging himself in that kind of s**t. Note to self: Mr. Everett Koop was not talking s**t.
"My parents," Jack shook his head, "My father smoked, drank, ate McDonalds, and did all sorts of other s**t. Of course, he wouldn't be talked out of it. Tough ********! Died in a hospital. One of my father's friends said that he once said that... " He exhaled deeply as he attempted to mimic his father's voice and mannerisms. Or at least how he remembered him. "I can be punched, kicked, shot, pile drived, or beaten to a pulp. But, never, EVER will the Immortals be the one to kill me. I bet you a....." He paused for a second as he nearly let out a sob, "A hundred dollars that cancer will beat them to it!"
It was quite the pause. Odd too. Awkward to just be letting it all out like this. People did this to him; not the other way around. "Cancer did beat them to it." Jack rubbed his eyes with one hand quickly as if trying to hide the fact, while his other hand held his sunglasses. He knew that someone had approached them, but he kept his back to her. There was an angry tinge in his mixed emotions and the thought that a non-hunter vampire had approached them heightened the anger significantly. Jack put his sunglasses back on as he tightened up, but did not move. And did not speak. He simply felt an urge to slip his hand into his bomber.

Meredith never had been able to sit in a classroom and listen to a teacher blabbing s**t to her, half of which she would never remember or use in her life time other than to show someone up in a battle of wits perhaps. Her geography and history skills were absolutely shot to s**t, she hated math and her English, well, she wasn't exactly a writer but she'd found what she'd been good at. As unfortunate or as stupid as it maybe seemed to some people, she'd been good at fighting and she'd been good at protecting others sort of. She'd never planned to become a hunter, it just happened after her brother had disappeared and she'd went out to search for him. It'd taken years but she'd managed to tough them out, survive and find him in New York. Amazingly enough, he'd also dedicated himself to a life of fighting. Like brother, like sister, she supposed. It was ironic but at least she hadn't forever searched for him only to find that he had somehow died.
"No need," Meredith stated rather bluntly, "to hide the fact that you're tearing up. Who in their right mind wouldn't? Sure, there are people who don't get along with their parents and whatnot but there aren't very many people who would wish them dead. And even those that do, most of them feel bad afterwards for thinking such a thing. However, there are psychos out there that are next to unfeeling and without mercy, though I have yet to encounter someone like that. I guess I'm probably fortunate that I've never run into someone like that. Or someone with nothing to lose. Those people are really dangerous since they don't know fear and they aren't cautious at all. And not to be disrepectful or anything but your dad was a dumb-a**. Why would he waste his life like that? Was he that determined not to be taken down by what he hunted that he was willing to kill himself like that?"
Meredith was perfectly aware that Jack hadn't mentioned how his mother had died and she decided that it was either a que that her death was far worse and he didn't want to talk about it or he'd somehow forgotten. However, she was pretty sure that he hadn't forgotten to mention her, seeing as it was pretty difficult to forget when your mother had died. Or at least that's what Eden would think. Perhaps Jack was different though she highly doubted it. As for the vampire that was annoying him, she decided to distract from the situation and see if there was some way to calm the psychologist down. "Hey Jack," she said as she sensed his anger beginning to boil, "maybe we should head off before these vampires kick our a**. We can go out and do something if you want, take a break from being a psychologist, a hunter, whatever it is you consider yourself." She was concerned about him and decided that even though he was a psychologist that everyone needed someone to talk to and everyone needed to go out and have some time off sometimes.

"It's okay," Jack nodded at Edith's insult at his father's expense, "We weren't really close, and I agree. That lifestyle wasn't very... good." Even if it was an insult and Jack should be angry, but he couldn't help but agree with Edith's summation on his father's practices. Their argument was quite sound, and his father knew what he was headed for. He was definitely not meant to be a parent, and he and Jack both knew it. "It seemed really painful, but his death was expected. The doctors told us that it was inevitable. What can I do?"
His death had been the catalyst in his choice to become educated. He didn't want to live in that hunter lifestyle that was quite the common sight to him. Not to be disrespectful but the life looked sad and pretty sickening. Just one's opinion. Hunters were necessary. Jack simply did not covet a life like that. He attempted the shake the anger away as Edith invited him to do something elsewhere. "Sure," Jack began with his tone significantly lighter, "Like what?"

(( See you later, then. ^^ ))
"It just bothers me that some people can throw their life away like that when there are others out there who would give anything to be granted a second chance at life or a different life. I mean like the people who can't control whether or not they die ..." She was half remembering people that she'd known from many years ago. One of her best friends that'd been diagnosed with a special skin condition that Meredith couldn't recall the name of. And the girl had been so fragile in her skin that if someone so much as poked her in the wrong place, the girl would get a blood clot and possibly die or be damaged for life. Her friend had always loved basketball and even though she was at major risk, she played the sport that she'd loved and died in the hospital after a fellow teammate had accidentally bumped into her during a practice. Then memories of Reno flashed through her mind and she shook her head. She still felt the guilt from that incident and took the blame for it.
Eden thought for a moment, contemplating where they could possibly go to have fun or to do something that'd at least take his mind off of his parents. "Well, depending on what you like, it'll depend where we go. I mean, are you a museum kind of guy where we go around and look at exhibits, examining them until the puzzle before us remains a mystery no longer. Or are you a coffee kind of guy where you just get a cup of coffee and sit in the place with your coffee while chatting. Or maybe you're an action kind of guy where you skate board or go cliff diving or hang gliding. There's also going to a book store and seeing all the cool new books that are there. Or there are those really cool odd shops that aren't branches of anything that're just local and sometimes have some really cool stuff and really cooky shop owners. All depends on you, bud, list can go on but I think I've hopefully given you at least a few ideas of what we could do. Also, we could just head back to haven and play games in the game room or watch t.v. or a movie or something. Whatever floats your boat."

blackrogue Jaden's jaws caught Rogue in the waste, and in the side movement, he flipped Rogue down on the ground like a ragdoll, as her speed was severely suffering, as well as her strength, not to mention the bloody gash on the back of her head from hitting the tree that wasn't healing because she had lost so much blood. A chunk had ripped from her side when he had thrown her, and she coughed a moment, blood coming up from her mouth as she lay there. Jaden's paw came down on Rouges back though not as forcefully as he was capable of doing. Keeping the vampire pinned down he leaned in and sniffed her. An almost gentle growl rumbled up from his throat as he relieved some of the pressure he was putting on her body.

Rogue coughed harder as he had his far too large paw on her back pinning her. The pain was excruciating coming from her side, and her head throbbed. Not to mention the large gashes across her face from the earlier encounter with another lycan, though those had been burned shut and the UV in them provided plenty of ache in her face, and her whole system that was trying to heal itself, but could not begin to do so.
Ignore the pain, Rogue. Pain is never an asset, only a setback, and to let it overwhelm you means ultimate death... Rogue's mind flashed back to early teachings with Death Dealers when she had only first become a vampire, and in her line of work, it was one of the few reasons she had lasted this long.
With her face in on the ground she had one option. The silver knife sheathed by her hand on her belt. She inched her hand to it and slid it out as she coughed, him leaning in closer to sniff her. As the giant lycan released the pressure of his paw on her, only slightly, Rogue swung her knife in an arch at his achilles tendon.

Jaden was not a nibble creature though his combat reflexes were excellent. He shifted his foot slightly so that the knife didn't slice through the intended tendon but instead drove into his leg. Snarling cruelly he yanked the knife from her grip. "And I was thinking of letting you go too." he snarled.

"That doesn't sound logical, seeing you creatures don't possess pity..." Rogue spat out the words as she remained mostly pinned. Her side ached. Don't focus on the pain. The pain is nothing...survive. SURVIVE... The words echoed through her head again.

Jaden snarled and relinquished his hold on the wounded vampire. "I don't pity you. At least not in the conventional sense... But I know that fighting a wounded warrior has none of the glory that I wish." He snarled and pulled the silver knife out of his leg. "I wasn't giving it my all either so you can feel comfort in that."

Rogue coughed again. She was not at the top of her game in meeting him either. The UV brought her game way down. But everything was waning now in her body. "Be a good little warrior then and live for your glory...and I wasn't giving my all either, but you could guess such a thing..." Rogue put two hands to the ground and began pushing herself up slowly.
