@ Osaka -- You come from fancy closet door land, then. o____o Though, to be fair, all of the closets in my house back home had sliding doors (I removed mine to make more space) and my apartment now doesn't even have closets.
Dogs do it, too. Well, mine does. My cats don't go outside, so I've only seen it as a dog thing.

I've never seen any dog do that. O-o
Normally, whenever I opened the door to my cousin's dog, or my own dogs, when I was younger, they would come rushing in. Or run out. I've never had that kinda thing happen before.
Although, to be fair, I've seen my cousin's dog, a small Shih-Tzu named Barry, drop his toy and then stare at it for a long time, without any indication of going to pick it up if he's on a higher location than the toy. xD

I've seen dogs do it when they're comfortable. If there's someone or something new, then yes, they rush in and out, but when they're just wandering around, they're like any indecisive animal. D<

My grandpa's beach house has a walk-in closet. =D But because he rents it out, there's nothing in it. I always hang out in there, because it's quiet and no one bothers me. =w=
My other grandparents' had a HUGE walk-in closet in their renovated basement a few houses ago (my grandfather's wife is a gold-digger and needs a new house every few years even though they can't afford it). It was like a separate room. o_____o It was great, though part of it wrapped around the shower area, and was separated by glass cubes, so there were some run-ins when my step-grandmother would come in to get one of the winter coats while someone was showering. >____> Huge construction mistake.
Oh, I forgot, we have one closet! D< Sort of. It's like a huge cupboard thing in my roommate's room. It WAS supposed to be a communal storage space, but she uses it as a closet of sorts, which sucks, because I could really use that closet. And her room is twice as big, too. >____> She's lucky she lives at the top of a tiny staircase, because otherwise I'd make her share more.
