Zachary T Paleozogt Laurel Gand Zachary T Paleozogt Laurel Gand Back from my hiatus. In case anyone cares, I was exploring the fandom possibilities of LJ. LJ? Live Journal? Yeah. I see. I had forgotten about that. Seeing as now a days all I hear about is Face book and twitter. Mmm. It's not as popular as it used to be, true, but if you're into anime/manga like I am, it's still fairly big on that front.

Went for sushi the other night, it was brilliantly delicious, as usual. They have a new drinks menu. See it with commentary.

Natalia Romanova Hoora for the new place Oni! Hopefully you have a less crazy landlord now. Well, he wasn't Bob, but I am rid of him and his nonsense now. Much better place and it's really close to my friends so it's made my social life a lot easier. Still have to get the internet set up so I'll be scarce for a bit longer. Still miss you guys. 4laugh

Well I was part of Jury Selection today, I even though I wasn't really wanting to do it. I didn't lie about anything to get out. I made it down to the 21 members, needed 6 jury members, it was a case about a teen who may have broken into a car. In the end I wasn't selected. Some where during the selection I realized something that I think would make a good story, But I need to know a few things jury groups.
During murder cases, are the jury keep together during the trail, like saying in a hotel and all that? Because, isn't it that minor cases, the jury can go home at the end of the deal, only to return tomorrow if the case continues?
Also, what would be the circumstances that would need to happen for some one to be taken off a jury panel after the tail has begun?
If anyone know anything about juries procedures, let me know.

Minor Cases I know they're allowed to go home. A co-worker of mine only took out two days of the week and then came back to work.
Most movies that i've watched on trails they keep em at the hotels. but what happens in reality i do not know.

I think its dependent on if they think the jury is going to have their opinion swayed by outside sources. Like, if its a case that's big enough to receive TV coverage.
Jury tampering by purposeful introduction of prohibited outside information is one way... which I saw in an episode of that show with Zack Morris as a lawyer...
But as to what would get a juror removed, rather than a complete mistrial, no idea~! I think they can be removed if they are exposed to anything related to the case outside of the trial. So if they read a magazine editorial, or watched the evening news and saw a feature about it. Basically anything that would present them information, and allow them to form an opinion about something. You can't pretend to ignore something once you've read it/heard it/seen it.

IT'S. ABOUT. ********. TIME. I am amazed how these idiots have been able to keep going for so long spewing such revoltingly stupid bile and not get told to just shut up. Whatever unearthly, tenuous link they're using to try and compare Obama to Hitler, healthcare to Nazism, counseling to death panels, obvious must also somehow link chocolate to leprosy, My Little Pony to Emperor Yin Zheng of Qin and Wisconsin cranberry chipotle cheddar to Kevin Bacon. The first amendment writes that they're allowed to say whatever they like, not that we have to treat it with credibility.

I'm glad someone finally flat out said something. XD
My boyfriend went to a recent town hall meeting and said it was horrible. He was one of the only young people there, and he said everyone else was either old, yelling, or both. He wanted to ask a question related to health insurance and leukemia patients, but didn't get to thanks to all the people who weren't even there to ask an actual question, much less listen to others ask them. Luckily, another young woman and fellow cancer patient got up to asked something very similar to what he had intended to ask. mad
It's just very infuriating how easily people people are swayed by others telling them what to think. No one can just have a discussion on opposing (and valid) viewpoints anymore, 'cause there's always one loud idiot who prevents that.

The degree to which these people take over the meetings is disheartening. I can't imagine going to one at this point for fear of the disruptions. There's no such thing as a discourse, just angry people who have three braincells huddled in the back of their skulls for warmth and no real information. You say "health care," they think "OH s**t OBAMA WANTS TO TAKE OUR GUNS!" There's not even a correlation between the two, and anyone with a valid idea on the subject, opposing or not, is shunted to the side so six nutters with signs can scream "MY COUNTRY TIS OF THEE!" at the top of their lungs.
I'd love it if they started talking about states that have a public option in place already. Yes, there's a certain amount of bureaucracy you have to deal with, but it's no more than I ever had to deal with using Blue Cross, and they're generally a lot friendlier. Minnesota has one, so does Massachusetts. It'd probably be a lot easier to pass if they went by state actually, there's a sort of "taking care of our own" mentality to it. Although, I don't know, people are really reluctant to raise property taxes to help pay for schools. I remember having a fight with my dad over of .04% tax to help pay for the art museum.

To much of Obama's plans are reminding me of the New Deal plans that FDR started back in the 1930s with social security. It could be a part of why people are distrustful of them.
As a historian, watching current events is making me very nervous for after 2010.
