I've heard as any one of [a ɑ ɒ ɔ]. The middle 2 seem to be the most common, and I flop back and forth between rounded or not. But this is my main trouble area in vowels, that bottom right-ish area. Oh, and the entire middle. /ɨ/ and /ə/ and /ɐ/ I can do, but all that werid /ɘ ɵ ɜ ɞ/ weirdness is beyond me.

I have issues distinguishing [Q] and [O], actually. I can hear the difference in speech, but it's hard not to mix them up when talking.
And that wonkiness eludes me too. I can get a rough idea just because I know what the sounds are, but I can't distinguish them.

/O/ and /Q/ are the same for me. It bugs me. In Portuguese they've got /O/,but I just can't get the right height. Comes out as /o/ or /Q/.
I honsetly don't even have a clue what those sounds like, and I'm too lazy to look it up. It seems odd to me that languages can actually distinguish that wonkiness. Go figure that not so many of them do.

I can pronounce [O] just fine when speaking Russian, but it sounds such a thoroughly Russian sound that I can't bring myself to say it in any other language. And I can't distinguish it from [Q].

Hopefully, by 'interesting', you didn't mean you bashed his brains out and threw him into a river...
I haven't seen Vajra post for a fair while now too... ninja

Just is peculiar to talk to someone in real life that you've known for the past year online. Surreal, as it were. Um.

Nope, I don't even know what it looks like. ^^;
But, just to let everyone know; I won't be on for a while starting tomorrow- no internet connection and I'm not sure when I'll be on again.
