when is St. Patrick's day and where does it come from?

yea its the 17th.. its in celebration of St. Patrick who did soemthing like got rid of all teh snakes in ireland....which is probably symbolic for soemthing, (like snake=evil...maybe paganism as that was considered evil by christians....) cause there arent many snakes in ireland- it beign an island and all.. at least i think. and supposdely that the day he died- 17th... and in ireland its a big thing where businesses close and everything, except pubs and such of course, and its become associated with everything irish. its intentions are for like spiritual renewal and such. which may be why they go get drunk? i dunno...like thsoie oracles from roman times that would get high off of gases coming out of cracks in the earth and then interpreate their "visions" xD...but probably not... uhhh. what else? yes thts all i ghot.. oh im hypoer.. adn im irish. ^^
