Aiden jumps in when he can, but he really does enjoy this far more than his own family's bland traditions.

At the end of one song, Raf's mother starts mumbling something abuot 'tapas' and disappears off to the kitchen, coming back with a variety of appetizer or snack like foods for people to munch on.

They eat some, and still sing some, and such. Even later, she pulls out some puerco pibil, a somewhat slow basted pork dish, and then they put on 'How the grinch stole christmas', the old animated version... with spanish subtitles, because it's her favourite christmas movie.

Aiden finds the subtitles interesting, since he's always wanted to learn new languages, and he also eats more, and enjoys the movie.

Then it was declared time for bed. Raf's newly dubbed mother Maria leaves out some tapas she'd made specifically for Santa Clause, and then puts out three christmas stockings (she had one left from when Raf's father was still with them), Two in front of the door to Rafael's room, where the boys were sleeping, and one in front of her door.

Aiden takes over the bathroom to wash off his makeup: bare minimum eyeliner and change into his pj pants. Then he goes back to Raf's room and crawls into the bed.

Rafael had already changed into some pj bottoms. He lets Aiden into the bed, and then turns off the light, "Mama really puts her all into the pretense that Santa still exists... I wouldn't be surprised to hear her leave to go to the convenience store to get more stocking stuffers, since she wasn't expecting three people's worth."

"She doesn't have to do that for me." Aiden replies. "I mean, everything tonight has been more than enough for me to have a happy Christmas..."

"She does have to do it, but not for you. It's part of her Christmas ritual, to play Santa. She seems to really enjoy it." Raf smiles a bit though, "Glad you've had a good time. I'm sure if nothing else it's more... multicultural than most christmas celebrations."

"Seriously, this has been the best Christmas I can remember." Aiden replies with a decisive nod. "My parents... well.. they were never really meant to be parents. I mean, I know they love me, but they don't really know how to show me that they do. Your mom though, with her, I can just tell that she loves you more than anything..."

Rafael shrugs, "That might not be a good thing. There's not much competition for her love at the moment."

"I would. Doesn't mean it wouldn't be for the best. For the best in more way than one, even..." Raf sighs, "It's not just a man though... she doesn't have very many close friends either.

AIden looks down, sadly, because a lady as nice as rafa's mom should have loads of friends. "We'll have to find a way to fix that then." he says.
