a fresh start would be nice.
PostPosted: Tue Apr 08, 2008 3:26 pm

((You know, I beleive a good way to get people is to get affiliated with other guilds. SDRP has tons of affiliations, one or two of those are role play threads that started in the guild and moved out to their own thing.

It would not be bad to get affiliated with some charities. Maybe donate some money to them and have the Mishap Mercenaries picture posted with a link to the guild. There are millions of places to put the name out there. We could also make a thread for recruiting too.

About rearranging the squads into the amount people post probably is not the best idea. Its hard to judge what people will do constantly. If he posts frequently for two weeks, the third week he might not post as much, then he could easily post twice as much in the fourth week.

It would be cool if the squads interacted sometimes outside of HQ too, but I think we tried something like that once. Like a co-op mission and it failed. Mostly due to lack of experience and timing issues. A war would be interesting but I don't think something like that would happen... I don't know, one squad leader says, "My squad is the best, all of you begone." DX))

(( I like the idea of the squad Organization and the new start. The two are like an ultimate combo. With some draw backs, see Ace's comments for the reason.
Just putting a link in a person's sig isn't gonna help. You might get one or two players that way but the condition of those players will be more along the lower range of the spectrum. I believe that publizing the guilds name first will do much better. Locking this thread will only push it to the back and we'll become a distant memory. The guild will be an awesome use. Right now its time to continue with this thread break some records or something. Use this as a refrence point for people who want details about us.
We need to do something like what Ace said, have all the members of other guilds as for something like an affliction or whatever their called. See if SDRP will put Mishaps up there. I'll ask some of the owners of the guilds I'm in. Try to spread the word about us.
Ok I'm done Yapping.
Ace, I'll try an' give a post, In wee bit.))

A gentle breeze brushed past the teen. His white hair rolling across his shoulders to hide his face.
The steelish blue eyes stared gazed over the merciless stone wall. Rising from the ground, both the trees and the wind seemed to be confused at the presence of this earthy barrier.
"WHO GOES THERE?" A guard yelled down. "ARE YOU WITH THE STRANGE NEW COMER?"
"Yessss." Yue hissed at the men above him. Within a few moments, the reinforced Steel and Wood gate surged to life creaking to move out of the way. 'Not until the mission is over, I've have a bite later.' After having tasted the delicous crimson liquid, that most humans have coursing through their veins, this teen began to enjoy it instead of food. The energy within in the blood would be redirected back to him, the plasma would be drained of water, while the stomach acids got what was ever left.
Complex and mysterious was the way yue left most people.
"Follow me." Waiting on the opposite side, a guard spoke to the teen.
In complete silence, the transformation was stopped. His famous emotionlessfac returned as he looked across the streets. In his keen ears, he heard the grunts, and other voices of workers. 'Something was being rebuilt.' He thought. With just as many interested, confused, and scared looks, the townspeople avoided the white haired boy.
"Stay here." The gaurd spoke, pointing at a building, before turning and running back to his post.

Stepping into the shadows, yue could already feel his body beginning to cool and the poison easily completly becoming resealed. 'Finally, my chi can regenerate.' He thought. Fluttering close, his sat against the wall, soon he fell into a light snooze.

((
I read that co-op thing. That was funny. They shot the client rofl . And a random sleeping janitor, just because.

I've got my own ideas for publicity, but first things first. Whether we move or not, we should have a section in the guild for character profiles, area descriptions, and a "what's going on?" blurb. Just basic information which everyone would find helpful. As an added bonus, we will already be used to posting in the guild, if and when we move.

B... er, second, we reorganize the squads. Reorging any time later will be harder, as we will have new members. If we can't sort the squads by posting frequency, then we should at least make them larger. Three people on a mission runs too great a risk when someone can't get on for a week. Something closer to ten would be better, I should think. We would have fewer squads, but we wouldn't get hung up as often. Plus, we'd have enough per squad for inter-squad rivalry, which is always fun.

Third, or C, whichever you prefer, we put together a campaign plan. We've got a good start on that, actually. So far, we have donating to charities, linking our signatures, and putting a link in this thread. Add to that a fourth move - what do you all think about hiring out teams to other RPs? With all the wars going on, everybody needs a mercenary.

Fourth, or D, or those roman numerals 'iv' that people sometimes use, we move, and start the campaign.

((I am sorry I had more ideas. DX
What if the squad leaders where assigned squad members every mission. It would keep things from getting stale mainly because you would not end up with the same set of people every time.

Frog, I am still trying to forget about that DX. That was embarrassing. To think I was that bad. My character was not thought out back then, not in the slightest. How did I ever get away with it, I don't know.

Oh and, we already have the hiring out to other threads thing. Its never been used before though. If we did though, we could have some cheesy advert at the end telling people they could be a Mishap Mercenary.... smile

In the guild, there should be an introduction thread, where all new members of the guild posts. I don't know if its already there. Its been ages since I have seen the guild...))

_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

((Now I will continue to rp on the same post.))

All of the council members looked down and shook their head. "You are mad, its impossible to kill those dragons, and your just one man!" One of the advisor's cried out. "He might of brought an army with him."Another said weakly.

"I did not bring an army, only three others, but I assure you it will be enough... Just give me a chance." Sokato interjected this before any others could speak out. "I do charge how ever..." Sokato flips over the paper that was sent to him, it has a price listed on the back. He hands the paper over to one of the advisor's, who nearly gags on seeing the amount.

((I gotta go. DX I guess I still have more to write though. I will finish this later then. Sorry.))

ooc::: Alright,

Thank you greatly Parting for all of you help and for posting the big question that we all know has been nagging at us for ages. And thank you all for posting responses, it helps greatly.

I guess now I will spout my own opinion on the matter, but remember mine doesnt count, I'll go with the majority's decision.

Firstly, Thread activity has kind of plummeted, we still have the most pages out of all the threads in this subforum. (Which makes me bubble with happiness), but still we really only have two active squads left. Mine has pretty much dissipated, (Partially my fault because I barely have time to get on -_-; ) Slithen has spouts of activity, and Phalanx is usually pretty good about posting.

True, we often have people joining as Frogtaur mentioned, but those people have usually sent me PM's stating that they have no idea where to even begin. I know I've had atleast 7 people I remember leaving before they even posted saying they just couldn't find a good spot to come in on. Thats partly because of disorganization. (My fault again because I origionally intended for Mishaps to be a guild xD)

Adressing the issue of squads having no interaction with other squads, I think that's also mostly because f the way I origionally designed this place xP . I can make up more co-op missions that are..er...more creativly organized than the disaster we all remember. (That still makes me lul everytime I read it)

Now, to sum up my opinion, I agree pretty much with Parting. I think we should continue to post here while we run a massive recruitment drive full of pretty banners, thread, etc. Once we have this place up and slightly full again we can begin the slow evac to the guild. Once the tide has turned, and the guild is active and this place for the most part dead again, I'll then ask the mods here to bar it down as a retired thread.

Like I said before though, that's simply my opinion on the matter, I'm still waiting for others liek Ryanna , kai, etc. to post thiers. (You guys can go ahead and continue yer rps in the meantime) And then I'll tally up the ideas, see which one is the most in favor, and we'll go with that.

!~~~#!!!#~~~!Lastly, The thing I absoloutly need to know!! Is Who out of our faithful rpers now would leave the thread if we moved to the guild? That'll affect our decision big time! !~~~#!!!#~~~!

Aaand I probably wont be on tommorow :] B-day is that day and I'll be busy hiding in a cardboard box so I don't get mobbed by my four other siblings.

((
@Xinrie: I didn't know we hired out. Think you could arrange for a big ol' 'HIRE US' in the name of our thread, to let others know about that little detail?

@Requiem: Xinrie gave the order to pull out, so the tech doesn't matter much anyways. Although, if you want to keep going in Urkal, I would join you. We could go through three major plot points before anyone else gets back to base, at this rate. Just lose the car first.

@Lutz: Your RP will become much, much more interesting when you post something. Be aware that you might be the only one there for a while, cause a few people may have gone AWOL.
))

The library, MMHQ

Joel was almost certain that the door hadn't been there the first time he had been there, but the way this library was arranged, he couldn't be sure. He was certain that he had been there before; he recognized some of the titles, which meant that he was going in circles. What he needed was a map, or at least a way of marking which way he had been. Even if he just had paper and a pencil, he could draw a map. Paper would be kept in a janitor's closet. Joel looked at the door again. It didn't really look like a janitor's closet, but in this place, who could tell? Maybe all janitor's closets here were made of reinforced oak, and had a large symbols slashed into them a quarter of an inch deep.

Or, it could be the exit. Joel opened the door.

He barely caught a glimpse of what looked like a hideously deformed anthropomorphic green cow before it hit him, pushing him into the side of a bookshelf. Vision blurring from the impact, Joel punched at where he thought the stomach was. It stumbled back, freeing Joel. His eyes refocused in time to see the creature holding its stomach with its hooves, wearing an odd expression on its face. Joel jumped sideways. An ugly yellow mass went splat on the bookshelf where he had been. It coalesced into a frowny face and crawled towards him, just as the beast charged again. Joel couldn't fight the whatever-it-was and evade its vomit at the same. Instead, he pulled a book off a shelf and threw it at the beast. He had been hoping to distract the beast for a moment, but it worked better than expected. It stopped, mid-charge, and crossed its eyes, looking confused. It picked up the book and read the cover. Then it opened the book and flipped through a few pages, giggling softly. In less than a minute, the thing read the entire book. It pulled another book off the shelf, and read that, too.

Joel had thrown one of the bovine romances.

Joel (who had been edging away from the creeping vomit) turned and ran.

((Overall, I think the guild's a fairly good idea. I just think we need an actual PLOT LINE. So far, everyone still seems to be off on their own thing.

Also, it is confusing to enter a thread and not even know what you're doing. The same thing happened to me; in fact, I'm STILL writing out my actual RP storyline (usually, I come up with a background on my character before starting, but this one came sorta out-of-the-blue). If we had an actual plot, it would make things a little easier on newcomers.

@Frogtaur: Thanks for the offer, but I usually work alone. Besides, I'm probably gonna stop my actual RP until I'm 100% certain I've got it down. So for now, just disregard all my RPing up to this point.))

((Requiem, our characters are so similar I think I could probably sue you. XD
Just kidding.... but not really.

I think I am the only member that participated in that co-op mission and is still around the thread. That one kid quit after I blew my lid and ripped him a new one.... I hated him. Any way, I am the only one that does not laugh when I read it because its so damn embarrassing. DX I would never leave Mishaps if it moved to the guild I would be much happier with it because I know that the guild wont just spontaneously die on all of us....

Oh and happy Birthday Xinrie!))

((Alright, I'm almost finished drafting up my new RP character. Basically, he's an assassin from another world, who left that world because his clan broke out into civil war. Once it's finished, the character's background and stuff will be on my Journal- if Journals are up, that is.))
