Gwen looked on with both relief and a bit of sadness as Shelgon fell - she couldn't believe that Molasses had been able to take it down! "Good job, Buddy," she called out to her purple Pokemon proudly, who seemed to have sank a little lower to the ground during the change of Pokemon. The Swalot was just about finished, but Gwen couldn't help but feel a strong sense of pride over her Pokemon's performance.
The pride soon faded as Jaeshan's voice drifted through the sudden silence of the forest... "Psybeam." Gwen could say or do nothing as the elegant butterfly drifted up and quickly fired a rainbow-coloured beam at Molasses. Having no energy or agility left to even try and defend against it, the attack connected easily, and was most effective. The Swalot finally fell. "You did good, Molasses," Gwen said fondly, holding up the Swalot's Pokeball and calling him back. "You should rest now." She looked up at Jaeshan and Butterfree, and smiled. "This should be quite interesting," she said, an amused little smile pulling playfully at her lips. A slight giggle escaped her throat as she took a third and final Pokeball from her belt, and enlarged it. "It's your turn, Clover!" Gwen threw the red and white sphere out in front of her, and the Pokemon contained within took shape with a burst of white light. It was also a butterfly Pokemon, but native to Hoenn, contrary to the Kanto-born Butterfree. "Start out with Sunny Day!"
The Beautifly named Clover began to flap her wings rapidly, doing an aerial somersault as her wings and body glimmered brightly. Strong streams of sunlight poured through the openings in the tree canopy above them, brightly illuminating the area as well as significantly raising the temperature by several degrees.

Keegan inanely tried to push the now sopping wet hair from his eyes, watching for an instant as Fang and the Swampert were locked in battle. Amazingly enough, Fang was larger than one would think, as his wingspan was easily a foot longer than the Swampert was tall. He imagined, however, that the water type weighed quite a bit more.
He was glad to see that Themis's Thunderbolt had staggered the Kabutops at least somewhat, and even though his bad feeling about the battle hadn't subsided, he at least had hope for an outcome that he could be proud of. The redhead looked up the mass of green and blue, and quickly at the Kabutops once more before shouting out his next command. "Themis! Give Fang some support! Get out over there and use your Bite attack!"
Like a blue and yellow comet, the Manectric was off. His claws gave him traction on the muddy ground, and he sent bits of goop flying as he raced towards his partner and opponent. Leaping up and over the two Pokemon, the agile electric-type landed gracefully behind them before launching himself onto the Swampert's back, snarling as he too tried to sink his teeth into the large Mud Fish Pokemon. At the very least, if Fang's poison failed to claim the Swampert, there was a good chance that the Manectric's Static ability would kick in and cause paralysis, which would help to level out the playing field some.

Train began walking over to Oddish, but the pokemon hopped backwards, a frightened look on her face. Train paused, tilting her head slightly to one side and looking at the Oddish confusedly. The scar on one side of the little pokemon's purple body caught her eye, and she understood. "Ah." She said, dropping lightly into a crouch. "Don't worry! We just battled together, so shouldn't we try to be friends?" Train said, holding out her hand to the Oddish and smiling a bit. Pikachu ran a few steps in front of Train, saying, "Pika pikachu!" In and encouraging way. The Oddish trembled a bit, shaking her head and taking another step back, the leaves atop her head drooping slightly.
Train stood up straight. "That's ok. It'll take some getting used to." She said to no one in partcular, unclipping Oddish's pokeball from her belt and returning the grass-type pokemon in the flash of red light. "We tried, and that's enough for now, right, Pikachu?" She asked her electric-mouse pokemon, who nodded and scrambled up onto her shoulder, perching there and looking around.

Shiro was not surprised in the least that the only thing that would break his boredom was the last of his choices. A familiar chill suddenly fell over his body, a feel of dread that he had been expecting from the moment he stepped into the forest, despite how much he was hoping they would find some other trainer to terrorizes. Sure enough, as he looked up into the tree tops, two large red eyes and a matching jagged toothed mouth came into view hovering amongst a thick purple gas. Two severed, claw like hands appeared in front of the gas and as a final touch, little blue flames began to dance around the ghost.
"Heh, did ya miss me?" The ghost seemed to cackle deeply as it made a quick and violent motion with it's hand. As it did so, one of the blue flames erupted from the ghosts body and and singed the dirt by Shiro's feet. "What, all this time and you couldn't improve on your aim?" Shiro grinned as he drew out one of his remaining pokeballs and threw it at the ground just as another ghostly flame was sent his way. "Poliwag, bubble!" As soon as the white light solidified, the small tadpole pokemon immediately shot out a weak stream of bubbles that collided with the will-o-wisps. The ghost face seemed to get annoyed by this, and Shiro knew that running away this time was not going to be so easy.

What was there for Ulani to say? The Totodile's flood of words stunned her (even though she had posed her request to know what was happening in the first place) to silence, and . . . What could she say? "I'm sorry," was all that she could think of, though seemed so little coming from her. She'd never experienced any of that, and now she knew that she was wrong in assuming that everything was peachy fine for everyone and that they were only acting angry 'cause they were grumpy little things. No, sometimes. . . definitely, things must've gone wrong for some people and Pokemon who were less fortunate than herself. And she was left with a considerably more negative opinion of Ray -- the bird was rather fickle, after all.
"So. . . . this old couple is that one who took care of you?"
___________//
The first of many things happened.
M.A. had just been slowly trying to engage conversation with the reluctant boy when suddenly her gaze caught onto something and simply would not quit. For there, in front of them, was something red. . . big. . . with too many legs for her liking. . . too many pincers. . . and eyes that froze her to the spot. Once more she had that deer-caught-in-the-headlights look to her eyes, and after another halting step she totally froze in place..
Now, M.A. had improved tremendously since she first left home -- it took more than an ordinary bug to do more to her than just startle her. But this huge Ariados thing with bright colors and so many legs and so many pincers and wing things and creepiness was beyond her capacity still, and since she hadn't been expecting something like this mere feet away from herself. . . she froze. Like a rock. If there had been a breeze in that forest, it might have knocked her over, she was that senseless from the surprise and fear.
It was only when the Ariados moved all of its eight legs and swayed forward too close, too close that M.A.'s face noticeably paled to the color of snow, perhaps even a hint of blue. In that instant a high-pitched scream rang through the immediate area.
Tora instantly sped up, urgency in her little body now -- she paid little heed to the two following her now, only intent on whatever problem was ahead. Something must be wrong. Or. . . what if there was a fight? No way a wasted Daemyn could do anything by himself, right? (Besides, she'd be more than glad to rush in the hero and fight away like a proud gladiator and save the day!)
Moments later, when the young Phanpy broke onto the scene, she found Mary-Anne on her bottom on the floor with an astonished Neil beside her and a growling, tottering Daemyn in front of both of them. The source of all this confusion? An Ariados standing there, backed up against a tree on the ground now. And in all truthfulness, to Tora, it didn't seem all that intent on fighting or anything, and didn't look that scary, so she couldn't understand it at all.
And then, to add to the perplexity of it all, all at the scene heard a fairly small explosion to their right somewhere, certainly not too far away.

Ariados had been shocked, to say the least, by the high pitched shriek that came from the young girl's mouth. It had been enough to bring her to the ground as she looked on with a bewildered expression trying to figure out what went wrong. But before she could do anything, a small blue elephant came bursting through the darkness. Ariados didn't know about the Phanphy, but the growling Houndour confirmed it. This was definitely the girl Shiro was traveling with before, though by the looks of it she was not so keen on recognition. She was still a little startled when an explosion erupted from behind where she had left her trainer. It was clear to her what was happening, she had heard this noise before in this very forest when she had come through as a Spinarak and was not at all pleased with what she was sure Crenu was dealing with. She turned to face the direction she had come from, completely forgetting about the two humans and pokemon she had discovered. A low clicking sound escaped her pincers as she spoke. Several more explosion could be heard coming from the forest ahead.
"Ghosts..."
----------------------
"Bubble, one more time!" Poliwag jumped up into the air for what seemed like the hundredth time and shot his bubbles at the oncoming barrage of blue flames. Crenu looked around frantically, keeping the big ghost in his line of sight at all times. He knew that there were more ghosts hiding in the tree tops, that ghost head was only an illusion created by the forest spooks. He coaxed them into coming out last time, but his words had no effect as it seemed they had learned their lesson. Without foresight to reveal the hiding pokemon, Crenu was basically screwed. Poliwag had just fended off more attacks when he was finally hit from behind. The little blue pokemon hit the ground hard as the mystical flame engulfed his small body and disappeared, leaving poliwag burned. He got up slowly and balanced himself with his tail, wincing from the burn and breathing hard, Poliwag continued to fight. "That's enough Poliwag, return." But as the return beam shot out of Poliwag's pokeball, the big ghost's eyes began to glow and sealed Poliwag's fate. The beam bounced off of Poliwag and returned to the ball.
"What!? Could it be... Mean Look? Damn! Alright then, Larvitar, front and center!"

Meanwhile, Ian had been giving a hard dash up the hill, trying to beat the rainclouds as best as he could. Luckily, he did manage to get out of range of the rain, but afterwards he was noticably wetter than before, and a tad disgruntled as well. Nevertheless, the sight of Keiichi's Grimer in such a comical pose rose his spirits, and just as suddenly, fueled his competitive urge. Like a gunslinger from the mid-west, Ian held his hand to his side, hovering impatiently over the Pokeball locked to his belt. "So, you gonna draw all day, or do you want to make something of our own?" he challenged, ready for some action.

Kurine paused in front of the grass. She glanced down at her Cyndaquil and said, "You ready?" Cyndaquil nodded happily. "Cynda!" He replied, taking a step forward. Kurine laughed a bit-she didn't quite know what he was saying, but it sure sounded confident.
Kurine walked into the grass, shivering a bit as it brushed against her legs. Cyndaquil sniffed around a bit, and his trainer looked around, pushing some grass aside and looking for an opponent. She glanced at the sky-it was getting kind of dark. Oh, maybe they'd find a Hoothoot to battle! She didn't want to catch one, though. She just thought they were kind of cool and wanted to see what it could in battle. Almost as if he had read her thoughts, Cyndaquil jumped back a bit as there was a flurry of wings and a Hoothoot flew up hurridly out of the grass.
"Oh!" Kurine said as it flew away. "Darn. Now we won't get to battle it!" She looked uphappy, but turned and kept looking for a pokemon to battle.

Jaeshan remembered having considered capturing a Wurmple when he first started out from home on his adventure. He'd wanted to capture a Wurmple in hopes of someday having it evolve into a Beautifly like Gwen's, although he wouldn't have been unhappy with a Dustox either. Having picked up a book on Pokemon species native to other regions a few days before his journey started, Jaeshan had found that he preferred a lot of the Kanto Pokemon over the ones from Hoenn, hence his choice to travel to Kanto.
He watched the Beautifly for a moment or two, wincing under the now-harsh sunlight that seemed to pound down on them even through the treetops. Why did she have it use Sunny Day? Jaeshan thought, gritting his teeth and using his hand to shield his eyes. "Okay Butterfree, let's get you back in form for battling! Use your Silver Wind!"
A joyous cry came from the lovely butterfly, and she began to flap her wings at a high speed, sending silvery powder scattering on the wind and towards her opponent. Jaeshan knew from experience that sometimes this attack raised Butterfree's attributes, but that wasn't the case this time.

"Mhm," the Totodile said simply without looking back, not really in the mood now to talk sarcastically. "I can't wait to go back; all I want is to..." he started to say. Just then, the house came into view, a small one-story building to the west with a fenced-in area connected to the south. Though it looked just like a normal residence, the small stand-up sign in front reading "Day Care Center" made it easy to spot on the side of the road. Suddenly overpowered with excitement, the Totodile dashed as fast as he could towards the front porch, not really caring if Ulani and Little Guy were keeping up. In one quick leap, he jumped the small staircase, landing with a loud thump in front of the old couples' door. Then, timidly, he knocked three times, and for the first time in a long time his tail begin to wag like a puppy's.
--
It wasn't much longer after Tora arrived that Ky and Ray came rushing into the scene. "M.A.! You all right?!" Ky asked hurriedly as he gathered in the situation. It didn't take him long to figure out what had scared the living daylights out of her (almost literally), watching as the huge, bright spider scuttled off. "An evolved Spinirak; that's odd," Ky thought out loud. He wasn't too good with names, but he knew from his studies that Pokemon rarely evolved in the wild. Not to mention this one seemed to have very little interest in them. "It's a trainer's... that's for sure," he thought, again mumbling out loud. Click... click... ding! Ky's eyes lit up. "No way! It can't be..."
Out in the distance, in the spider's direction, a faint yet clear "Larvitar, front and center!" confirmed it.

That's a high-level Butterfree if it knows Silver Wind, Gwen thought, shielding her own face from the powdery attack. Clover braced herself, flapping her wings quickly to keep herself in position. Even though the attack was ineffective, it still was somewhat damaging. The Beautifly narrowed her eyes at her attacker, her long, pointed mouth quivering with excitement. At one point, Gwen herself had considered capturing a Butterfree of her own, but decided that the more aggressive nature of the Beautifly suited her battle style a lot more.
"You all right, Clover?" Gwen called out, uneffected by the bright sunlight and heightened temperature. The Beautifly didn't answer, only continued to twitch her hooked mouth in anticipation. "I'll take that as a yes... so you know what to do now, girl!"
The butterfly let out a screeching sound, and the powdery scales on her wings began to shine and glow brightly. She brought her tiny 'hands' together, a bright ball of light forming quickly between them. It took only seconds for enough sunlight to gather, and she fired off the powerful Solarbeam attack only moments afterwards.

Kilik stared up at the Murkrow and grit his teeth together. How could he be losing? He knew it couldn't really be his fault; it was a clear type advantage. Being the "High and Mighty" he was, Kilik decided to blame his poor performance on the unfamiliar location of Violet City. Rebecca's got a clear advantage over me, he thought, glaring down at her then tossing his gaze to Ludicolo, With him so badly damaged, I can't think of anything else to do. "Ludicolo, ret--" he paused with the Pokeball in his hand. Ludicolo's body was now shaking, his eyes slammed shut, and the water oozing from his pours becoming pure ice. Holding his hands up in front of him, Ludicolo took dead aim on the crow that hovered so high in the sky. Cold wind began to gust around the Pokemon's body. A familiar blue light began to emit from the palms of his hands. "Luuu....diiiii...cooooo...." His eyes burst open and the Ice Beam flew through the air at it's target. "LOOOO!!!" he cried out.
"That's cheating!" Rebecca screeched. She stomped her feet angrily into the dirt, "You didn't command him to attack at all!" While she was too busy yelling at Kilik, Murkrow was still in the same place, dumbstruck that Ludicolo had the energy to move. The crow shook it's head to snap back to reality, but by the time it had taken evasive maneuvers, it was too late. The Ice Beam had taken a direct hit into his left wing and sent the bird spiraling down to the ground below. With a mighty crash and a cloud of dust, Murkrow struggled to stand. "If that pineapple...duck...thing can do it, you can too!" she barked. Murkrow stood on it's talons, glaring daggers at it's foe.
That was it. With that Ice Beam, the poor Ludicolo had exhausted all of his remaining energy. A groan of pain, followed by a crash signaled his downfall. Kilik recalled his partner without a word, then laughed a bit to himself. "I've got to admit, I didn't expect Murkrow to take out Ludicolo," he shook his head and ceased his laughter. "But now that Murkrow's nice and weak, he's perfect bait for Weezing! Go!" With a flick of the wrist, another Pokeball was sent flying through the air. The familiar faces of Weezing's strange structure were immediately recognizable once the light had dimmed. His expression was completely blank and all that came from the Pokemon was a single utter of his name, followed by an obscenely long yawn. All four of his eyes then focused on the small bird in front of him. "Weezing, let's go! Attack with---" again he paused. Just one second... he thought, If Ludicolo had an attack I'd never seen before...could it be possible that Weezing does too? No! Maybe...maybe all of my Pokemon have attacks that have laid dormant for so long!
"Oh, it's that adorable Weezing of yours!" she cooed, "Good to see he's getting his fair share of garbage to eat." Rebecca wasn't being sarcastic; of Kilik's Pokemon, it was apparent that Weezing was the only one she liked. "Shame this battle won't last terribly long." A giggle emitted from her throat.
"Shut your mouth for a second, would you?" Kilik snapped, holding his head. If I let Weezing attack with what he wants, there's a chance he'll use something new, if my theory is correct. He shut his eyes and took a deep breath. "Weezing!" he called, "Check into the deepest depths of your mind! If there's something new there, something you recently recall or something you now realize, attack with that!" Weezing floated, doing nothing else. His eyes remained fixed on Murkrow. Aside from Elekid, he'd never seen a Pokemon so...small. Especially a Flying-type. Poisonous drool began to dribble out of his mouth. Kilik clenched his fists tightly. "Oh, dammit, Weezing!!" he barked, "Pay attention! If you know something I don't, attack with it!" This was going to be like commanding a brick wall to pain the Mona Lisa.

Ulani gazed at the sign, the house, the fenced-in area with some shocked familiarity. Though she could not read, the letters were familiar - the Daycare Center. It was near this place that she had lived for a while after meandering away from her tribe of sorts and she had met M.A. But wait a moment, the scenery was different, the house was different, the position of the fencing and the area within it. . . no, this was not the place, of course. She had lived in Hoenn. This must just be another one of those houses, the bird decided, shaking off the walk through memory lane. She sped to catch up with the Totodile, stoppng short on the doorstep's railing and watching curiously -- why, he looked so happy here!
"I'll be there in just a moment!" a woman's cracked voice called amiably from inside, and as they waited they could hear her small steps pattering rapidly towards the door. As the door creaked open, the small, elderly lady became partially, and then more so, visible. Her face, lined as it was, registered surprise -- far from shocked dismay, too, as her merry face announced. A smile broke through her feature almost as if through habit, revealing how her warming laughter creases had come into existance. "Hunny! We've got an old visitor here!" she called inside, turning her head for a moment before turning her attention back to the three Pokemon in front of her swinging the door entirely open and greeting them all in. Although the Totodile didn't seem to have any objections, naturally, Ulani stayed rooted to her spot. Any doubt about whether or not this DayCare was the one she knew evaporated, for this was not the same caretaker. . . Besides that, why should she come in, shouldn't they come back to Mary-Anne and Ky now?
"We won't bite, come on in for now," the woman chortled, and now with the door full open they could smell the aroma of food. And Ulani was won over, of course, leaving her doubts at the doormat and floating in charitably, perching on the caretaker's head to her delight. The woman, of course, had no idea where these three had come from, but it'd be terrible to interrogate them at the door without giving them some treats!
Once inside, they met the DayCare man who seemed to offset his short, full-figured wife with his tall and lanky frame. The man, however, was every inch as good-willed as his wife, and upon seeing the Totodile swung the Pokemon up in his arms before setting him back down on the table. "Why hullo there!" he boomed in an astonishly vigorous voice. "What is this, now? Don't tell me you've gotten into more trouble, you ruffian!"
"And you've brought your friends -- accomplices, no doubt! -- with you! What's the gallant occasion of this pleasant surprise?"
________//
Mary-Anne had quite recovered in a moment or two and the color rushed back into her cheeks and then some, filling her face past rosy and closer to tomato-red. "Ah. . . yes, yes I'm fine!" she said hurriedly, picking herself up with a flustered blush. How embarrassing! To get frightened like that again to the audience of all around. The. . . the spider thing. . . (upon looking at it again, that color faded once more). . . didn't mean any harm, anyways. Unlike Ky, she didn't come to that conclusion, for she wasn't exactly very familiar with Pokemon in the wild.
But then a familiar voice wafted through the air. . . Could it be?
Daemyn dazedly looked at the Ariados -- what in the world was it up to? Maybe nothing, he sniffed, heading back to Mary-Anne and demanding to be picked up once more (she did, oofing a little) then demanding to be put down again, for her arms seemed to be getting a bit small for some reason and he felt restless despite his weariness.
"Ghosts..."
"What?" Daemyn frowned, a curious Tora trudging up to his side."What?" the elephant repeated dumbly a second later, not exactly processing things so well when her breaths were heaving so after her little run. Jeez, now, running back and forth wasn't easy, you know, even with her kind of energy. Daemyn tossed her a glare for her little input.
"Alright then, Larvitar, front and center!" It must be him! Mary-Anne thought, nearly as dazedly as Daemyn. What was all of this coming to?
And of course, the brothers had no idea of what was going on either, except that they were all together now and no Totodile?

Weezing continued to float lazily, staring down at Murkrow with a silent intensity. When Kilik screamed at him, he turned in the air quickly to stare at his trainer, his eyes sparkling with tears. They began to stream down from all four of his eyes. He listened intently for his trainer's apology (which came very slowly and almost forced), and he perked up immediately. No evidence of crying was left on his face. Ready to fight, Weezing flew towards Murkrow with impressive speed (for a Pokemon of his species, at least) and slammed into him largest head first. It seemed like a Tackle, but when he spun his body enough to slam the second head against the fowl, it was a magnificent two-hit combo. Kilik was about to congratulate his Pokemon then stopped his mouth from opening. Weezing's not smart enough to attack with Tackle twice like that. It had to be something else...a new move perhaps?
Murkrow was knocked around like a rag doll. The bird slid across the dirt and made a very unpleasant ditch in his wake. Unable to bring himself to stand back up, the fowl was recalled with by the familiar red beam. Rebecca shook her finger at him. "Tsk, tsk, Kilik," she cooed, "My sweet little Murkrow is just the tip of the iceberg. Now check this on for size!" She flung another ball, this time it was an Ultra Ball, and unleashed a large pink creature. It's tongue rested neatly on the ground.
"Lickitung, let's take care of this bothersome whelp, hm?" With an affirmative nod from her Pokemon, Rebecca called the command for a Rollout attack. Curling itself into a ball, Lickitung began to spin rapidly in Weezing's direction.
Kilik's face remained expressionless. "Rollout?" he smirked, "Why Rollout? I'll just have Weezing hover up higher to avoid damage!" He sliced the air with his arm and Weezing did just that. Kilik ran his thumb over his nose quickly. "You'll have to try harder than that if you want to beat Weezing! Now, Weezing, give that Lickitung a nice pile of Sludge to eat!" Dark lines appeared under the Pokemon's eyes and the cheeks of the largest head began enlarging as if he were going to puke. And he did just that. A massive pile of a disgusting purple bile came cascading down on Lickitung, who had just broken out of it's Rollout.
Lickitung stood it's ground, staring up at the oncoming attack. "Lickitung, you can take it!" Rebecca barked, "Sludge is nothing compared to that plate of garbage you ate last night!" A fire appeared in her Pokemon's eyes as it nodded. Extending it's tongue and wrapping it around the bile, the pink nightmare engulfed the Sludge. With the attack so nicely in his mouth, Lickitung swallowed it whole.
"WHAT?!" Kilik took a step back, gagging a bit as he did so, "He should get poisoned! Sick! Throw up! Nothing can eat Sludge and not suffer some kind of consequence!" The boy straighted back up, clenching his fists into tight balls by his sides. An opponent that could eat anything? This was going to be a lot more interesting than he had imagined.

"A tribe of ghost pokemon. Gastly, Haunter, and Gengar if I remember correctly. They are a vicious group of pokemon who love to play tricks on humans. And for some reason, they seem to have chosen my trainer as a target every time we enter this dark forest. They use their powers to hide themselves and make it seem like you are begin attacked from impossible angles."
Ariados scuttled around to look at the two pokemon, then shot a web into the trees above. She slowly disappeared into the branches and shot off towards Crenu
-------------------------------
Larvitar move! Poliwag, use water gun...left!" An odd ball of light came flying out of one of the trees at Larvitar. It floated strangely through the air, almost as if it had a mind of it's own rather than a predetermined path chosen by the ghost that fired it, and closed in at Larvitar who managed to dodge it at the last second. at the same time, Poliwag shot a pressurized stream of water up into the trees where the odd ball had come from. A moaning cry echoed as a Gastly fell from the trees defeated. "Heh, even if we can't see you, you can't hide all of your attac- Ahh!" Crenu was cut off mid sentence as a black ball of pulsating energy hit him dead on in the back. The attack flung him forward several feet into the dirt, and his pokemon rushed to his side. A rather large Gengar appeared just over the ground a meter or two behind Shiro, grinning menacingly and laughing. As the pokemon gazed at Gengar, two more Shadow Balls came from the forest and blasted them to the ground. Poliwag was down for the count, but the ever resilient Larvitar got up and brushed himself off, glaring nastily in a circle as one by one the ghost pokemon dropped their illusion and came into view. The large ghost disappeared and what looked like close to fifty or so ghost pokemon, mostly Gastly, surrounded the three of them. Shiro Staggered to feet, but fell down to one knee.
"So the fun begins....Sand Storm!"
