oraofsadness Kattes I've been playing clerinet for 4 years, and I love it, WHOO!!! I've been looking for cool songs, anybody know any you know mario? the video game thing? that sounds pretty fun on the clarinet... also the clarinet polka (aka the charlie the unicorn song) lol the mario theme song that is fun to play

Tezuka-chan-likes-anime Umm...Hi. I'm currently at freshman in college who came from a 2-A band and got straight division ones in concert band and jazz band for 4 years and got 2 silver place plaques from when we played for the Canada competition. I'm currently in the college woodwind section and I love it to death! I'm so excited to talk to other about clarinets!! blaugh blaugh I miss my clarinet buddies TT^TT LOL i bet i will learn alot from u sweatdrop xd

sacredoathofpoetry25 silverrain62 Hi my name's Kate and im a clarinetist too. im going into my 4th year playing and im going to be a freshman in high school but probably wont get to march until my sophmore year. sad wait im a freshman to and im going to be in marching band, what band are you going to be in, if ur in symphonic ull be in it atuomaticly well i just moved out of state so i think i missed band camp and i have no idea how to march. i tried out for my old school and got 2nd chair symphonic though.

I Play 3 Clarinets.
Alto.
Bass
And Bb Clarinet.
I Do Marching and Concert.

i really wish you guys would say more things that invite long conversations....i mean, i spend more time in the sax forum because there is literally nothing but "hi i play clarinet" in here...

Lol at te above, mmostly because I agree. I've been hanging out in the bandcamp thread n te marching subforum.
So, I've been getting kind of mad at my section. They are treating me like a freshman, and the other female sophomore is trying to become second section leader, when last year she played sax, and I was the only to try out for section leader other then the girl who did get it. It is pissing me off ecause first, the other sophomore took over when our SL was out taking senior pictures. Then, when the SL came back, she put me on second part, when the BD gave me 1st paart and wantred me on first part, then everyone is treating me like I don't know anything, when I know more about the music then any of the other yahoos in our section. The other sophmore, as I said before, played sax last year, and our SL played trumpet,and the other sophmore, a boy, can't play for his life and is an ineligible alternate this year anyway. Now, how come the freshman always seek another mmber even after Ihelp them? Its like they don't trust me. What did I do? I don't even know them, just like the rest of the section! It is so angering. And then the SL points out my mistakes, but never anyone elses.
"Fix the B. It is supposed to be Bb." I was playing Bb. She didn't believe me that it was the crappy freshman next to me(seriously. three of our 5 freshman suck)"It is a dotted eighth note followed by a sixteenth note, not two eighth nottes." Again, the freshman next to me. I was playing the rythm right.
And so much more. It is making me mad!

It is making me mad! i can sort of understand your pain...i was section leader as a sophomore(sophomore is the youngest that goes to my high school) and i was also the youngest sophomore...so the upperclassmen weren't too happy about that. i also play sax, which made some of the "pure" clarinetists mad at me because i'm a "traitor"..but i just love to play music, and playing more instruments makes my music more versatile(for example i'm learning guitar this year, and i've picked up a little trumpet...i can play a few scales and simple songs on it.) really i don't pay too much attention to them..i just tried to make the band director happy, and he seems to be happy with my skills and determination for music, so eventually the rest of my section started respecting me a little more, and it makes it a lot easier for me to respect and help them as much as i can. plus i'm a junior now, so it's a little less hurtful that i'm section leader and they're not.

I just got my all-district audition music last week. I'm disappointed in how easy it is. I've mastered it already. I was looking forward to a challenge. emo
