 "You're dangerously good looking." he agreed, continuing to eat. The dark meat was rich in flavor and delicious, as expected. He tried a little but of everything though, the mashed potatoes creamy without being watery with just the right amount of butter an salt, the stuffing perfectly blended and not too dry, and the rolls. Tim would get fat off of these rolls. "Please marry me. You'd make a great wife." he said, taking a sip of juice after polishing off that sinful thing called a roll.

 Daren inclined his head dramatically, hiding the pleased blush across his cheeks, "i am yours, my husband. to have and to hold, 'till death do us part...and then i'll kick death's a** and cling tighter to you." he smirked as he lifted his head, "glad you like it! it's all my mother's recipes, well, everything except dessert. for some reason my mom was rubbish at dessert." he shrugged and finished his juice, "she was famous for her rolls, though. she had me helping make them as soon as i could reach the counter on a chair." he smiled a little, "it was the happiest times for me, when we were in the kitchen cooking together."

Tim laughed at the fake wedding vows, taking another bite of food. "I wish my moms were as good of a cook as yours was. You'd think together they'd be decent but I'm pretty sure I've been close to having my stomach pumped. This is all so delicious." he tore off another roll, "And I love these the best. I wish I could thank your mother. I'm going to get fat."

"she would have made you eat half a dozen, saying you were too skinny," Daren said with a small chuckle, "she was always worried about me growing up to be too skinny. like a bean pole, she used to say. my father made sure we were always well off, his pride such that he wouldn't allow use to appear anything but rich, so we never were without, but mother still worried i didn't eat enough." he shook his head, "she would have loved you, Tim. you would have been her baby the moment she laid eyes on you, she was just that kind of person. when i was allowed to have friends, they all called her mom too." he smiled, "she was too kind, just like you."

Tim listened to something very rare. He listened to Daren talk about his mother. The brown eyes didn't stray from his boyfriend, watching the man try to hide his smile, looking down and away in memory. It was nice to watch. Daren looking back at memories was normally painful and filled with fear, but today he was softly smiling, happily smiling, while talking about his mother. "She sounds wonderful. I bet I would have loved her too."

Daren sniffed and sat up at littled, running his hand over his face, "yeah. i can see it now, the two of you cooking and laughing in the kitchen. it would be a sight to behold." he cleared his throat, "christmas season must be getting to me. i'm getting all sentimental." he chuckled and finished with his dinner. "alrighty, clean up and then decorating time." he gathered his dishes and took them to the kitchen, wanting to escape the memories that seemed to plague him today.

Timothy gave a light chuckle, "That's what Christmas normally does. Let me help clean up." and stood, shoving the last of the food on his plate in to his mouth, leaving the dish washing to Daren while he packed up all the food in to the tupperware and put it in the fridge. Oh he was excited. He was so excited. "I think this does call for wine. Just a little bit. Like a shotglass full that I'll sip over the course of an hour." he said, putting the last of the plastic in the fridge. "and we can decorate and have fun! Daren!" he said, clinging to the man, body already buzzing.

Daren had finished washing the dishes and was drying and putting them away when Tim hugged him. he looked over his shoulder as he put the last plate in the cupboard, "i think your earlier plan of none is a better idea. let's sip grape juice instead, ok?" he turned and kissed the top of Tim's head before getting out the juice and pouring them two glasses full. "alright, let's get to work, hmm?" he walked into the living room where there was a stack of boxes waiting and set his juice aside before opening them. "here are the lights, this one is tree decorations, oh, here is the tree. want to do that one first?" he held it up, smiling at how excited his lover was.

Tim frowned but didn't fight, taking the grape juice. Though his floundered spirit quickly re-energized as he went to the boxes, hovering over and around him before giving a cheer. "Tree first! Then we can decorate around it. But we need to be away from a window." Despite being on a high floor someone could still break in and steal presents. He dragged the box to a corner, pausing to move a side table out of the way before setting the box here. "Right here? Does this look good?"

"That looks perfect," Daren said as he walked over and started to unload everything from the box. the next two hours was spent putting up the tree, adding the decorations, rearranging the decorations so they looked just right, opening the other boxes and decorating the house. by the time they were finished, the apartment looked much brighter and apple as sniffing around cautiously, not sure what to make of all this strange new stuff. "it looks good, Tim," Daren said as he wrapped an arm around Tim's shoulders and sat down, "really good. i'm glad you talked me into this"

Timothy practically exploded Christmas, putting the fake tree together with help, putting the branches on the pole with the same colored tape. Apparently red and brown looked nearly identical and it took Daren's good eye to figure out which. Honestly they should not be right next to each other. Decorating the tree was last though, Tim removing the innards of the other boxes with a big grin. This went here. That went there. The one thing had to be hung a little more to the left. Use tape to hang it there. He was laughing and being silly while decorating, deciding to tape the tinsel to his upper lip to make a spiffy moustache. Apple seemed to like the tinsel too, though it was quickly revoked when she tried to eat it. No glittery poops for her. The minutes passed by as they decorated, one turning in to ten, in to thirty, in to an hour; at the two hour mark Timothy sat down next to Daren, basking in the Christmas spirit. "This is so great." he leaned against him, "This was fun. I liked this."

Daren had visions of Tim decorating for every holiday from now on and shook his head a little, "yeah, it's a lot brighter in here, i'll give you that." he looked at the tree with its' lights all lit up and the decorations that had lights as well. "i'm just glad that we don't have any noise makers, not to fond of those." if it made noise it would cover up any of the subtle sounds that Daren needed to hear in case there was someone in the house. he wouldn't be able to rest without knowing that they were secure.

"And it smells like Christmas!" he said happily, stretching and deciding to lay his head on Daren's lap. He loved this. They should take pictures. They should've taken pictures. It made him smile a bit at his own stupid giddiness. "I'm not fond of noisemakers either. We used to have some when I was a kid, but they'd always turn on in the middle of the night. Always scared me." He smiled up at Daren. "I'm happy."

Daren ran his hand through Tim's hair as they sat there. "i can understand why, they can be annoying," he leaned his head back and sighed, closing his eyes, "i'm happy, Tim. really, i am. thank you, for this. i didn't know that something as simple as decorations could make me feel so-" he struggled to put to words how he was feeling, "peaceful?" he opened his eyes and smiled at Tim, "thank you, love."

"That's good." he said with a smile, "It's good you feel peaceful. I'm glad." Tim was sure Daren hadn't felt peaceful in a long time. "All that's left is buying you Christmas presents and we're all set." Sitting up, the man gently pressed his lips to the other's. "I think we're going to have a Merry Christmas."
