Senka was about to retort when Miyuki hugged her cat tightly.
"Be nice...."
She meant that two both of them, because she knew it was possible for Senka to like males (or at least act decent to them). It was just a matter of getting her cat to see the benefits.

Amalirahc drew his legs up to his chest and hugged them to himself, and didn't say anything more. He could be quite nice when he wanted to be, but it had been a really sucky hour and he was far from in a forgiving mood just yet.
But soon enough, Alassëa was finished with Lady Kirahn, and then it was Senka's turn.
"Come, Senka," she said, holding out her hands for Miyuki to give the cat to her.

Miyuki carefully handed Senka to Alassea, she knew everything would be alright.
Senka, on her part settled down and let Alassea do what she needed to do, only helping but bumping her head gently against Alassea's hand so she knew what part of her was where.

Alassëa put her hand on Senka's head, and while her falcon watched jealously from her shoulder she gently stroked the cat's back to help calm her. She really had no idea why Senka and Amalirahc didn't get along very well, but she just knew that sometimes it took a bit of work to keep them from blowing up at each other.
After a few minutes, she lifted her hand from Senka's eyes. "There. How is that?" she asked softly.

It was a relief for her to be able to see again. Senka liked to be able to see where she was going and what she was doing.
"Much better!" she purred happily, "Thank you!"
She rumbled in bliss at being able to see again.

Alassëa smiled and petted Senka a bit more, until her bird squeaked a bit and nipped at her ear.
She giggled. "All right, I know." She patted Senka gently on the backside. "Off you go, back to Miyuki. My bird is getting jealous of all the attention."

As much as Senka would like to, she couldn't argue with that. She would have been jealous of anything got her Furball's attention so it was all fair. She hopped off Alassea's lap and sauntered back to Miyuki.
Taking a leap and a hop so she could settle herself on Miyuki's shoulder.

Alassëa smiled and stroked her bird's head softly, tilting her head slightly to nuzzle it lovingly. Then she reached for her staff and rose to her feet.
"Now, you said there was someone else who needed healing," she said. "Let's go find him."
Lady Kirahn rose and nodded. "Come, children."
"I'm going to stay here," Iorlas said from where she was sitting by the window. "If you don't mind."
"That's okay," River smiled at her. "You rest. It must have been really hard to tell us your secret like you did."

Miyuki immediately turned to look at Lady Kirahn since this would be her first time actually seeing her and she wanted to know what the captain looked like.
Obediently she went to their guide, waiting to see where they would go now.

Lady Kirahn was a Light Elf with flowing pale golden hair that was pulled back in a tight braid and bright blue eyes. Her features appeared delicate, making her golden armour seem out of place. Tall, slim, she didn't seem to be very muscular, and yet in a position such as she had it was clear that she had to have extraordinary strength.
River and Amalirahc followed quickly, Alassëa following them by sound, staff in hand, bird on her shoulder.
"Lady Kirahn?" River spoke up as they headed back towards the stairs. "You're ... Lord Jaxon's wife, yes?"
"Yes," the lady knight replied softly.
"Then do you know why there are no railings on the stairs here?" she asked. "Miyuki was wondering earlier, and Lord Jaxon said that you might know ..."

Miyuki blinked as her eyes lit up at that question, "Oh yea! I did ask that earlier. I forgot."
Which wasn't a surprise considering everything else that had been going on that day.

Lady Kirahn smiled as she started to lead them down the stairs. "For two reasons," she replied softly. "First, for defense. Attacks can only come from below in this palace, and if you have the opportunity to send your enemy down twenty feet or so, it's quite advantageous. The second reason, and perhaps a silly one, in some peoples' minds, is aesthetic. Not having bars makes it seem less cluttered."
Not that it seemed cluttered in the first place: it was so big, it could have had much more in it before seeming cluttered.

Miyuki thought about it a bit before replying, "The first makes more sense than the second. You have to be extra careful on those steps."
And she didn't think the looks of the stairs was worth not having railings on it. Making sure you don't get attacked though was different.

Lady Kirahn laughed softly. "Well, I didn't design the palace, I just work here."
River couldn't help but giggle at that.
"I've never been to a palace before," she admitted to Lady Kirahn, "but Miyuki's been to lots."
"Indeed?" Lady Kirahn seemed curious. "Do tell."

"Well...." Miyuki murmured, "Two."
It wasn't a lot but seeing as palaces weren't many she supposed it was a lot.
"Ada came from the palace in the Southland, so we go there for a small while before visiting mommy's family in Gaia, and we stayed in the palace at Amon Darthir back when ada and his uncles were helping the Queen there."
