Arlen frowned as he looked at the girl. For the life of him he couldn't figure out who she was. "I'm sorry," he said softly. "Is there anything I could get you?"

The girl lifted the pad, ready to write on it again, but paused and sighed heavily. Tossing the pad over her shoulder, along with the pencil, she closed her eyes, shifting forms. Within seconds, the girl gained striped fur, a tail, and cat ears. "This is so much easier," she muttered, pulling off the bandana as it was hurting her ears. She glanced down at Rose again and gave her a shy smile. "Hello me," she said quietly.

Arlen shook himself visibly. "Wha.. but how? and Why?" he stammered, utterly confused.

"I'd like to know too," older Rose said with a shrug. "Blayne and I were working on a spell, then something went wrong and poof, I was outside trying not to be sick." She looked back down at Rose, who was staring open-mouthed.
"Y-y-you're me! But I'm me!" she protested, not quite understanding. She looked down and pouted, all sense of unique-ness evaporating.

"Right.. Magic," Arlen said, content to leave it at that. "Rose, you want to see the trick now?" he asked, hoping to cheer up the little girl.

"No, that's okay," she sniffed, picking her doll back up and starting for the stairs.
"Hey, m...I mean, Rose-chan, I'm sorry," the older Rose said, following the smaller one. "Please don't go."
The little one paused, then turned slowly, her eyes icy. "If you're me, then you'd know how I feel!!" she shouted and started running up the stairs. She tripped on one, landing on her arm, then got up and continued up the stairs.
The older Rose let the younger one go, her shoulders drooped. "Yes, I do know...I remember...." she whispered, rubbing her arm absently. then shook her head. "I guess I screwed things up royally tonight....fudge monkeys." She turned around to Arlen. "I'm sorry to keep it quite. I...didn't know if I was dreaming or what."

"You're really from the future?" Arlen asked solemnly, pulling the Verdant Flame back into himself.

She nodded. "Yes, I wasn't lying about that. I just don't know how or why I'm 10 years in the past...well, my past...with me..." She paused and ran a hand over her hair. "Ah, this me-Rose, her-Rose thing is gonna get confusing...."

Arlen nodded and looked Future Rose in the eye. "Please don't tell anyone," he asked her seriously, believing that she would know what he was talking about.

"I won't," she said, understanding what he was talking about. She yawned, putting a hand to her mouth. "Y'know what. I have an idea. Let's call me...Siren while I'm here. It's the name I gained...will gain...whatever...after a clan ceremony." She clapped her hand over her mouth, looking up the stairs, hoping that Present-Rose hadn't heard.

"Thank you," Arlen said, fishing into his pocket. "Here," he said, holding out a room key to her. "I never got around to putting my old key back," he explained.

She took the key, one hand still over her mouth. With a sigh, she removed it. "This is gonna be so hard...again. Trying not to say anything and having to see and remember how I felt..." She sighed again and flipped the key into her palm. "AH well, not too much I can do about it now...good night Arlen." She started up the stairs. At the top, she saw little Rose's face peek out from her room and pretended not to notice as the little one watched her continue all the way down the hall.
