She took the step forward and put her hand in his. She wasn't sure why, but at the moment, she was trusting Cris more and more, and Erik less and less. Something was going on, and an innocent girl was paying for it. The guard looked down at his clipboard.

"I'm sorry, folks. But I don't see that name on here either. You sure you got the right place? We've only had one admittance today and that was a little hellcat. Oops." He grinned. He wasn't really under the patient information silence that most doctors were, but it was still frowned upon and the guy didn't want to lose his job.

"I can go inside and ask if you want, though."

The man looked down at the gold, but waved it away. "No need to do that, guy. Just doing my job." He smiled and started inside before turning back about, "By the way, what's she look like, since the name is wrong if she is here?"

This time it was Jessica who spoke up. "Short. Maybe 5 foot or so. Strawberry blond hair, freckles and soft ice blue eyes." That drew him up short.

"She wearing a blue bodice and short shorts?"

"Yeah! That's her..." But the man was frowning and he glanced back towards the office. "Come with me, folks." He motioned them to follow him into the guard's station.

"I've got some bad news for you."

"She was the little hellcat that was brought in earlier if it measures up right, and I think it does." He nodded as if to confirm it with himself. "An older man brought her in a limo and got her admitted under the name "Seea Prima. She was some Diva Ballerina for his company and he was her guardian or so he said. Had the paperwork and everything. But all of a sudden, everything in the room lit up and she struggled, and the doctors fought blind to tie her down." He was frowning, they weren't going to like the rest of this.

Jessica sensed his reluctance and took a step forward, though she didn't release Reinhart's hand. "Please tell us. Cris is her brother. Her actual guardian. Someone stole his sister." That just widened the man's eyes and he looked downright fearful.

"I knew they were doing some fearful experiments but..." He was in shock, and Jess wasn't much better, her hand tensing in Cris' gripe, trembling still in rage.

"That guy...her guardian, hit her over the head and knocked her unconcious, which stopped the bright light but when everyone could see again, the doctors were dead and no one could explain why." He glanced back towards the office. "Two doctors dead and no explaination but the girl was blamed and taken into custody and driven off again."

"Oh god...." Jess had tears pouring from her eyes, both by the senseless deaths of the doctors as well as the Amber's treatment which she blamed on herself. She turned to Reinhart, her face against his chest, seeking the comfort of his presence.

He nodded and went back to his desk, pulling out a piece of paper. "I've been having issues with some of these folks policies for a while now. I think it's about time I handed in my resignation." He put the piece of paper on the desk and led them back outside.

"Now, I don't know where they took her, but that old man mentioned something about it being best if she recieved private care, and that he was going to take her to an embassy. But this is Latent, tons of countries have their embassies here."

Jessica was still clinging to Reinhart, afraid of letting go. She had no memories but what Erik had given her and every single one of those was being challenged, so she merely stayed in the cradle of his arm, afraid to look around her, of what she might see.

She blushed, the pink gliding along her cheeks like a rosebud blooming ((wow, waxing almost poetic....woo mushy stuff)) and she looked up at him trustingly though still blank. "I don't know what's going on, but something deep inside says to trust you, Cris." There was a faint smile, "There's also something that wants to slap you, but I find the kissing more pleasant."

The guard looked at them and smiled, "Good luck, kids. I hope you find what you need. I need to go look for a new job meself." He chuckled, he wasn't too worried though he wasn't going to be able to get a recommendation from this job.

"I want to help you find Amber." She still blamed herself; if she had stopped Geoffrey, if she had gone to the hospital with Amber. "But Erik will be missing me soon."

Slap

Her hand connected with his cheek. "Cristopher Reinhart, you can't order me about like I'm some kind of maid." Her hands went to her hips, just like they would have before when they were having some kind of arguement. "You are without a doubt as a**, one of the most arrogant, obtusive, egotistical..." She paused, her own words sinking into her brain.

"Oh my...I didn't mean...that is...I ....where did that come from?" Her eyes were wide with shock. Erik had told her that she was a refined lady from excellent stock with a rich pedigree and never even cussed.

She was mute, merely nodding as she turned and got in the car, situating it and her clothing to her sastifaction before pulling the seatbelt across. Once Reinhart was in the car, she turned to him.

"I'm sorry. I didn't meant to..." She waved a hand around helplessly, towards the spot where the red was fading quickly. "It was almost like reflex" The Esterian Embassy wasn't in Latent though. It was in Durem. That much Jessica knew, so she had to ponder a bit and it kept her from being too embarrassed about both kissing and slapping Cris.
