Roarke waved a hand, the womit disappeare. "It must have had some kind of internal trigger. Possibly set off by the sound you made on your cup. He helped her up. "I'd have to look at it more cloesely, though I can't say that I want to touch the thing now."
PostPosted: Sat Nov 05, 2005 10:54 pm

"No I wouldn't want to touch it either" She poked and prodded at her legs. She didn't mind that the scars from the corpse where there but she was proud of that one on her thing, it was a battle scar. She felt her thigh and sighe dinternaly, it was still there. She thanked Roarke for his help.

"Well that is one experience I hope nerer to have again!."

Onyx considered that for a moment.

"I lost my sense of wonder a long time ago. but no excitement..I thrive on excitement. well. I guess I'll have to earn a heart, so to speak. since I doubt you'll be wanting to do..whatever it is we did to switch that out again."

A slight grin.

"Then I guess I should tell mom that we solved your problem by giving it to me, then shouldn't we?"

PostPosted: Sat Nov 05, 2005 11:45 pm

"Indeed. but on my home plane...there are teh gods we worship, and the four elder gods. of fire, wind, earth and water. was this mother a lesser, or a greater goddess."

This just got a bit harder, didn't it.

"His necromancy will be beyond my scope to fight power for power if he is that strong. but..the act of Liching himself brings with it weaknesses to sacred magics or holy weapons. and I only have one of those. it's called Ghoulbane. has some kind of undead cleansing magic, but it's not very powerful. after all it's designed to confront ghouls, not powerful undead like a lich. of maybe Malvolence coudl be considered sacred. Dragon's fire probably makes an impression on undead flesh."

And a look to Piper.

"We'll have to get you some sacred arrows. Shaman blessed maybe?"

He knew she loved those arrows that cymarron had helped her craft, she'd treated them so importantly. and it might help her to see her old feline friend...though malik wasn't kidding when he told Tarathiel he hated him. everytime he saw him he wanted to ram Malvolence through him.

"Sacred shaman blessed arrows? I think you've peaked my interest a bit. Though where you'll find one...then again you tend to find anything you need sooner or later, don't you?" Another smile to him...indeed she was feeling a bit better, more willing to let people be closer or even be more personable herself really. But damn the method to get to that feeling. "So...protect ourselves from undead and I'm to avoid them for the time being...sounds like we've all started a plan." Though she didn't know how she felt about Tarathiel in all of this...he had already pulled a fast one on then once before.

"I was thinking perhaps, with the Oracle's permission, of course, get some from Cymarron. the arrowheads and feathers you enjoyed so much. Could send Serino for them. maybe some wood too."

A small smile to her in return to hers, runnign his hand over her head through her air some

"Cymarron is a beastlord. a kind of...Vah sacred warrior. he coudl bless the arrowheads, I'm sure. Or, if that's not agreeable, we can try and get Simon to do it. but I know you love the winged vah's golden feathers."

"Certainly not." Standing again, he pointed at the little flower and it flew over, hovered in the air before them. He glared at it. "A black rose..." he muttered to himsefl as he stared at the thng. "Red s an exresssion f love, black of hate. It is pssible that thisnecklace was made with malicious intent."

"And now you'll not thrive at all. Oh what a wonderful thought, isn't it?" Well now, they were really hitting hard to each other weren't they? Moonstone patted at his chest. "No. I think I quite enjoy this feeling of being alive. You see if you can grow a heart. The only way Mother got hers was threw the bond. And you won't feel close enough to anyone to want to bond with them. If you could even preform the ritual, that is."

He shrugged. "You can tell Mother if you want. I've got things to do."

Meilikki put a chin in her hand. "Oh, she's up there." She thought for a moment. "Holy magic, blessed items, is probably our best defense. If this lich has fallen out of favor with his mother, which he has, since she refused to gift him with immortality, then anything touched by her or her fellow gods will be very damaging."

She shook her head. "If it is Dimitri, then he has defeses against dragon fire and ice. He has fought with Tanundra and Alaran before."

"Cymarron?" The one creature he really had a grudge against? Though she couldn't help but smile slightly at he proposition, Malik did know her likes now didn't he? And he usually indulged her when he normally wouldn't tend to someone else's at all, even entertain the idea. "Well...I've always liked my arrows flashy, you know that." And there was nothing more flashy than venom soaked serrated bone arrow heads with shimmering gold feathers on the tail end, that was for sure...well in her opinion anyway. And to think...she only had two left of those. Though when he messed with her hair, her own fingers took care to make the right side fall just so over her ear. Maybe Moon and Onyx had a good affect on Malik? Or maybe him getting his want of settling down? Or he was just as she thought before, indulging and spoiling. "I'd like that..."

Smiling widely, Tarathiel walked into his armoury. The only place where he stored his numerous scimitars, well, the ones he never or rarely bothered to use. Over the hundreds of years he travelled across the plane, he accumulated many different enchanted blades to help him scourage the world. Every so often, he found himself up against something that required a specific spell or two to defeat, and often enough, he ended up buying or taking a weapon with just those enhancements. This would likely be a time when he would need these.

He pulled a strange hanger off the wall near the entrance, it was addorned with six scabbords which enabled Tarathiel to carry more swords. He quickly placed it over his chainmail, and began sifting through his array of weaponry. He picked out six specific swords, and stored them on his back. These were not the best of weapons, but at least he would not have to worry about a few things.

The next stop was his study, where he gathered a new cloak and several other items. He even decided to pick up his helm just for the added benefit.

Now, all he had to do was confront the greatest evil known to him in order to obtain the information he desired... Uthegentle was not a pleasent person. He hated everything that was not bound to remain in one place, and held a certain distain for a younger brother who's fame exceded his own. This probably was one of the most risky things Tarathiel had ever done, including stealing from the ancient Red Dragon, while said dragon was awake.

He came out of his study, and ordered Orko to take him to Salmander's, where a second wizard was waiting for him. The human twisted his wrists and opened the door that lead to the sacred grounds of Salmander's Watch. The drow stepped through, and sent Orko back, wishing to keep the wizard alive a while longer.

Of course, Vierna was waiting for Tarathiel there. "Great... Two siblings in one meeting."

Vierna pouted, "Would you rather be left to Uthegentle on your own, I could always go home..."

Sighing in submission, "For once, I would appreachiate you company."

He looked about, "Now, where is that lazy brother of ours..."

"Wizardry is not a lazy subject brother." Vierna responded. "You are well aware of its benefits."

"95% of the spells wizarsd learn are useless against our kin. That makes their lives rather wasted."

"But the five percent that work, work well." Replied the expected kin.

"Greetings brother." Tarathiel said rather calmly, without joy.

"Greatings, son of Lolth." The brother replied. "What would the second boy wish of his youngest brother?"

"I need to speak to Uthegentle, Ad'non." Pausing and glancing at the eldest child present, "And apparently she is coming."

"Excellent. I was hoping that was all you wanted, your wizard message seemed rather... Vague as always." Ad'non replied.

"If ever I told you more, you know what would happen." The older brother calmly said, his tone reflecting more of a dare than any love.

"Yes, yes. Eternal torture at the hands of Mother's rivils, hoping to gain entrance onto the demi-god's plan, to become more powerful, etc, etc." Ad'non's voice was callous, and held little interest. "What is in this for me?"

"The same as always, a lock of hair that you can sell or use to your advantage."

"Most excellent. Dinin and Zaknafein would be most displeased with this. They have already spent what was left of theirs." Ad'non smiled. Demi-god hair was very valuable to the followers of the parent god. It made temples more holy, it made weapons more powerful, it made life much easier for those who had it.

"Its strange how you do not consider you sisters when discussing such things?" Vierna added to the conversation.

"They are simply out of our league." Tarathiel smirked, "Unless you would rather us compare ourselves to those who are closest to Lolth?"

"But Brother," Ad'non smiled, "You are the closest to Lolth."

Vierna sneared at the youngest sibling. He was only four hundred, and only a mid power wizard. His training was not yet complete, and he would probably never reach it if he did not wisen up.

"Ad'non, please don't go getting yourself killed. Vivi here was thinking of slicing you open for that comment. You are too useful to me alive to allow something so silly as foolishness to get you killed... Hey, I need another wizard on my boat, you wanna come?"

"Not right now." Ad'non replied. "Your hair is more valuable at home."

"We should get going." Tarathiel said after a brief pause. The wizard simply flicked his wrist, and transported the trio to a place on the other side of the world. "I hope this is not a bad idea." Then agian, those were often the best of ideas.

Aella crossed her arms. Damn. She had a feeling Tarathiel was getting himself into trouble. If she trusted that Iris girl, she might have tried to follow. As it was she was growing uncomfortable with this prolonged discussion. Talk of the lich was upsetting, and she seemed rather emoitonal now that the two drow had finished their little fight. She tapped her staff on the floor, contemplated leaveing......

King Jiscal was enjoying his meal, a nice lavished feast of exotic animals and plants from the farthest reaches of the sea, when a sudden chill rose up his spin. He knew that he might be imagining things, but that chill occured only when danger loomed in the guise of an ally. It occured every time the Captain walked by...

Jiscal turned towards his wife, Zeranda, who seemed ingaged in diplomacy with a few of the 'loyal' nobles, gaining their confidence that Jiscal will not lead the kingdom into further decay. She was very persuasive when she wished to be. Jiscal looked back at his plate, the food was disguisting, but he would have to endure it.

What would increase the taste of this filthe... Cattle sounded very good at the moment, something his family ate frequently when he was no more than a feeble lord, and possible heir.

Now, he was the only connection to that line. He snorted, and then coughed to cover up his displeasure. How he hated being king of a dying land. No food, little drinkable water, enemies all around, and within... The only hope he had was that the ships he had ordered built will provide him with the means to find those nasty dwarves a place to call home...

Metal deposits were rare in this labyrinth of caves. The majority of his soldeirs wore leather armour, and wielded quater staves... They could not storm the dwarves if they even had ten times the number of soldiers. The only relief he had was the contingent of kobolds that were currently patrolling the outskirts of the known territory, eating everything they could find. He had a few thousand good men now, enlisted by the promises of freedom and wealth. The slaves were drawing nearer and nearer to freedom, which did not bother Jiscal personally. But, the implications of freeing so many people was rather... unpleasent. The first concern was what would these people do?

There was barely anything for the freemen to do as it was. The underground made farming rather impracticle. Most men fished in small boats using long nets, which for one reason or another, are dissapearing into the depths rather more frequently than normal. The ranchers shippd food across the channels one small rafts, but occassionally these went missing too. It was like the gods were trying to slowly starve the nation.

The gods... OR a drow.

For a long time now, Jiscal had forseen Tarathiel turning on him for the sheer joy of seeing another king fall from power. The loyal nobles and some secret police reported that a faction of loyists were rallying in the back water streets of Deep Water, posing themselves to strike a blow agianst Jiscal.

King Jiscal, the last remenent of the line of kings, was probably doomed.

He looked at his goblet, and smiled. At least the wine was good. Turning his head, and Zeranda was not such a nasty person either. Come to think about it, he rather enjoyed his time with her. Given enough time, he might even come to love her... Which of course, would be bad for him. He never would expect that half elf to ever return a feeling towards him.

Suddenly, a voice in front of him grabbed his attention. "You most esteemed Royal Highness, I Trem Bowl of the Watch, have completed your first Ship, using only the wreakage of the former fleet." Anouced the raher high pitched voice of the only non-human Jiscal has ever felt an urge to trust. He knew, with total certianty, this deep gnome was in Tarathiel's pocket.

"That is pleasent to hear." Jiscal replied to the dimunitive creature. "When can we set sail?"

"The eve of morrow."

"Excellent new indeed, come join us in our feast, most noble shipwright."

"Alas, I must decline. I would very much like to return to the other ships. We only need 14 more tons of wood to finish three more. When can we expect to get it?"

Fourteen tons... That was not so bad. It only took Deep Water a month to accumulate that from Lostagrace. If Jiscal could send a contingent there, they could probably decrease that time by half. "I shall personally look into the matter, and send word to you presently." Jiscal said as he stood, which caused all the guests to stand with him. "Be seated, and eat my food. I wish to make this land great, and to do so we need vessels capable of defending our borders. And that, my friends, is more important than dining for the king." Jiscal was happy to escape this meal, and he hurried out of the dining area and into a study, where he began to poor over maps that Tarathiel so kindly provided.

"Who to send..." Jiscal muttered to himself. "Who indeed..." Only one response came to mind, only one person could really lead such an expedition. "Diamond..." Damn.

Rydia walked into the room where Piper, Malik, Meilikki, Iris and Aella were still gathered, discussing their plans for dealing a blow to the lich. "The Captain has gone on a short journey, and will return later than he suspected. He wishes for you to conclude your business, and he trusts that Special Prisoner will tell him any and all necessary infromation." The girl stood rather straight, and her eyes seemed to only focus on Aella, and her voice only held some maner of presence. Other than these things, she seemed to be rather dead to the world.

After reporting, the woman returned to the room she exited and walked up the stairs to the gathering place for Tarathiel's slaves.

Meilikki and Aella both watch Rydia as she came in, spoke, and left. Both were a tad confused, a little shocked. That had been the most Rydia had ever said to either of them. Aella had strong suspitions that the girl was very bitter.

"Wishes us to conclude our buisness, eh?" Meilikki looke to Malik. "Are we finsihed then?" She raised an eyebrow.

Aella only nodded. "Aye."
PostPosted: Sun Nov 06, 2005 1:46 pm

Malik nodded. It was indeed needed to wrap up thier buisness. but he had a few more questions, and perhaps another favor to ask.

"to the matter of the vah, then. can we ask for the cross planar transports of blessed arrowheads, feathers, and wood? and since I don't know about the dieties of this world...where might one get blessed weapons..or have weapons blessed?"

Of course the clerics in his service might..but really, a weapon blessed to Innoruuk probably wouldn't be too effective here, if at all considering the nature of the god. and of course..his task ment going to Deepwater. well at least then he coudl see what Jiscal had done with the gifts he'd sent with Serino earlier. and maybe do a little politicing of his own.

Onyx let him go, and smirked some.

"Wait till you get to feel things like worry and fear. Then we'll see who the big man on campus is. you don't have the control I learned. and I don't have the apathetic attiude you gained."

And after his brother went to go feel alive, Onyx picked up the little raven item, bit his palm, and used that hand to hold it.

"Mother...if you can hear me...we've had a slight..complication."

Meilikki thought about this a moment. "In this case, I will not be bothered if one Vah comes for a short period, nor if these objects are brought with him. Whether they are blessed here or on his own plan doesn't matter." She nodded.

"Most gods here in the underdark don't like to be bothered by non-natives. Most will refuse to help you, even considereing the situation." She folded her hands in her lap. "Your best option is to speak with Ton himself. If he is able to persuade his mother to bless the weapons you choose.." She shrugged. "They would prove most formiddable."

There was a bit of static for a moment, before Rand's voice came out clear and strong. "Complication? You make it sound as if the engine has failed on a B-52." She did not sound very happy tohugh, despite the joke.

Moonstone smiled to himself. It was great to actually feel the mirth, feel the smugness that showed on his face. For once, ammusment tugged at the courners of his mouth. First, he was hitting the dinning room. He'd actually enjoy a meal for once.
