KillJoy is the name of the toxin that is coursing through their systems. As soon as your character comes into contact with a student that is already infected (which should be everyone that isn't just now showing up), the toxin intensifies their emotions significantly. For instance, they could find themselves uncontrollably attracted to someone, or hating their best friend in the blink of an eye. It makes them euphoric, and hungry.
I think that is about the best explanation I can give. Let me backread and see if I can find the post that explains what the toxin does to those it infects...
And ACM, Sophia and Raine are addressing your character trying to not get him to go inside...there are spiders all about and people freaking out about it.
