The wire was again knocked out of the air. Jenner could have sworn he saw a smirk on the Commander's face before he was engulfed in his battle again.

Anna gave a silent gasp, her shield disintergrating. She quickly grabbed Blaine and whoever the other guy was by the backs of their shirts, trying to pull them away from the approaching and very angry woman. Unfortunatly Anna was not made of muscle, so without their help she couldn't budge them, and she was also mute so she couldn't tell them to run either.

Nathan lit Jenner's shoes back on fire. It seemed the only thing to do.

Jenner was already swiping his fire to counter Nathan and his shoes were promptly extinguished. An irritated expression on his face, he sent out a coiled arc with a great deal of slack behind it. With that much slack, it'd have to be severed to stop - or pushed out 20 feet.

Nathan heated the wires up at their bases to the snapping-under-own-weight point, then started advancing at Jenner again, Steel prepared.

Anna let the two go and stood in front of them, holding her arms out and making a bubble shield that went around the three of them. She shut her eyes and concentrated as hard as she could, praying that she would be able to protect them.

Jenner was prepared for this; seeing the wire reach the red hot state, he swiped his fire mysticker and held it at the temperature it was at as it flayed Nathan's torso.

The woman sidearmed a kinetic pulse at Anna, and continued running. Anna's shield managed to deflect it off to the side, and the shocked woman ran face-first into it.

Nathan prevented this by encasing his chest and limbs in separate pieces of pretty thin but wire-proof armor and then adding a chunk back onto the wire, such that its weight suddenly increased near the base and it would crack. He kept charging Jenner, intending to turn his face into a pancake.

Anna went to one knee, hardly able to keep her shield up. It was her sole consentration, and it was draining the energy from her, but at least she was able to keep them safe.
For the moment.

Jenner looped the wire up and around Nathan's arms, anchoring him to his own steel. The slack had prevented it from snapping.
