I've been up to my knees in wrapping paper for a bit. Everyone else refused to wrap presents, and they kept yelling when all the presents weren't wrapped yet. Bastards.
And now my brother's birthday is coming up. JOY.

I'm happy too. I ggot a book entitled The Power of Babel. biggrin It's about the origins of language, how they evolved you know, how like, French is essentially Latin, just, thousand years down the line....
And the n I got this program for learning the basics of a ton of languages, and it has a bunch of vocabulary for Aymara. I was rather surprised.
Then I got of book of random knowledge, and $50 Borders giftcard (I like to read), Steven King's "The Mist", and other stuff, like a Rubiks cube revolution, and an iCat.

That was about the first linguisticy type book I ever read, which probably got me into the whole thing. My trampoline into Nerddom if you will.

... I got this book for Christmas-- and, I'm kind of upset that it's the only book I received but the book is most pleasing anyway--
Also, I have a laptop now, which I'm on. smile I named it George. A violin, too. biggrin I've no idea how to play it yet and it's un-tuned, but I'm getting lessons on the eighth of January. Oodles and noodles of clothes.
A friend gave me a pink plastic duck. biggrin I love ducks. I named it Lenny, it's a Jewish hermaphrodite duck. [Couldn't decide on a gender. razz ]
Er, I realize that must sound really queer, but, what did everyone else get for Christmas, Channukah, Kwanzaa [do they get anything? I've never bothered to look.], etc.?

If you want a faster way to say all three holidays, you can say "Christmahannukwanzaakah!" xDD It's what my school says during holiday assemblys. Anyways, I got a bunch of clothes, gift cards for store, and just stuff like that. Nothing language related though......

I'm sorry I've been neglecting the guild. I've been busy-ish and for some reason have been unable to think of any responses to any of the topics that haven't already been said.

Eccentric Iconoclast I'm sorry I've been neglecting the guild. I've been busy-ish and for some reason have been unable to think of any responses to any of the topics that haven't already been said. Me too. I've been visiting, but I can't see to make any posts except for when an actual question is asked. I'm just about to recruit from a thread now, probably only one or two people from http://www.gaiaonline.com/forum/general-discussion/why-do-you-study-japanese/t.36559831/

Go look at the Activity thread. I stumbled upon a thread with 38 pages (probably more now), but I need help with it.

I think I might have skimmed through that and picked out the most promising people before. Not sure if it was this thread, but I think I recruited Nekomaru Lupin from there. Either way, I'll see what I can do smile

Did the first 20 pages. sweatdrop
I was a bit wary about inviting people who knew “English, spanish and a bit of Japanese”, as it seems a lot of people count high school Spanish and otaku Japanese as ‘knowing’ the language, but I gave them the benefit of the doubt. I suspect that a lot of the people who claim to speak like, 8 different languages have over-exaggerated at least a little too…

Also, in French, it should be 'Je parle le francais' right? I ignored everyone who just said "I speak English et je parle francais"

Thank you.
No, it's 'je parle français'. It's an irregularity, but that's how it is.
