The Mayan calander actually does not end smile It only skips two years, then continues on its regular schedule.
Sorry for the random insert biggrin Im New hehe

Nariko: Yeah, that's why I'm not getting layers. It would be way too hard to take care of. But I shower at night, so I don't have to worry about doing anything before school. If I'm going to straighten my hair, I do it at night, and it stays straight until I wash it again.

Yeah, that's actually what my 5th grade teacher said, but that was before the whole 2012 thing. But I have to say, if it does end in 2012, that's gotta suck, really...I would've just graduated from high school, then I die before I can live my life...it's kinda hard to think about, don't you think?

Hello and Welcome to Ravenclaw, theleumbar_09!

Really? o.O I didn't know that. I still really don't believe the Mayan calander though, since the last Y2K didn't happen, what makes them think this one will?

Welcome to Ravenclaw theleumbar_09 (:
I actually don't have an opinion or care for 2012. I don't believe it will happen. I guess that's because there isn't enough facts to go along with it. The movie looks amusing though.
PostPosted: Wed Jul 22, 2009 1:28 pm

I Dont believe the calendar but i think something will happen because people want something to,so whether they force it or not.Itll be interesting to see what does happen though smile The Movie looks fairly good,i was excited when i saw the preview for it. I get sucked into movies like that im a big history nerd haha.
And Thank you guys smile You can Call Me Thulie or Theresa if you want. Make it sort of shorter and easier to write lol.

I agree. There is usually tension built up and people expect something to happen. For all we know, some psycho might be planning something right now. I love history! So much fun and so interesting to learn c:
By the way Thulie, every new Ravenclaw has a few questions to answer. Those are on the first page (:

Where are your greatest strengths? This one?
Well My Answer Would Have to be, My Mind. Nothing Can Function without thought.
and this one?
What makes you happy in your life and why?
I would have to say my family, and Books. My Family Because I wouldnt be here without them, were a very tight knit family smile . Books because they are my alternate reality, help me escape from this boring one im stuck in all the time. smile

i hope those are what you meant >.< hah

Blanc: I'm so gullible, so that's probably why I believe it. But I didn't really read into it or anything, because, I don't know about the rest of you, but I'd rather not read up about when we're all going to die.

History's my favorite subject! Not my BEST, but my favorite, certainly. Very interesting. But I'm more into the Holocaust and wars and stuff like that. And the Space Race thing was pretty interesting too.

Thulie: You're welcome smile . And I saw the preview for the movie, it does look good. But I don't think I'll see it, though...or I'd rather see it alone, because my mom'll be all like "Well, this COULD happen..." then go into this whole logical explination...I'd rather just sit back and enjoy the movie, not talk about it.

Haha I'm the same way with books. As long as their interesting, that is. If they're boring, it might be just as bad as this life, razz .

Kineka: I'm usually pretty gullible too. I've had my fair share of falling for the 'there's gullible written on the ceiling' trick. I agree, reading up on the end of the world doesn't seem like a fun topic to research.
Thulie: Yep those were the questions.
I love the French Revolution, American Civil War, WWI, 1920s in America (flappers, gangsters, jazz, and whatnot), WWII, and the Vietnam War. The holocaust is really interesting. Horrible, but interesting.

Thulie: It totally doesn't sound weird, it's a very interesting subject to research and discuss. I remember in my history class last year, all the interesting days were either when we were watching movies or talking about the Holocaust. Our teacher got really into it, so it was very fun, to say the least.

Yeah, that's what I did. When I was little, I had this big obsession with biographies...but most of them were so boring, I never got past the first chapter. That's when fantasy started kicking in...much MUCH more interesting than reading about a bunch of old, dead guys' childhoods.

Blanc: Oh, I fell for that once, and never fell for it again. Or well, until my 5th grade teacher told us there was a footprint on the ceiling. No one wanted to look, but we all did anyway, and he got a good laugh at all of us.

Ooo! The 20s were awesome! I loved that chapter too. Also the 50s, they were cool. WWI was definitely my favorite World War to talk about. WWII just didn't sum up to it. And I agree, the Holocaust was horrible, but also horribly intriguing.

Thulie: Welcome! Is it just me, or have we been getting a lot of new Ravenclaws this past month or so? Not that it's a bad thing.

Kineka and Blanc: I LOVE History. I like studying ancient Greece (well, ancient history in general), the age of absolutism, the Renaissance (sp?), WW1 and WW2, the Holocaust, the Cold War, and Imperialism are my all time favorite things to study. I'm not a big fan of U.S. History, because the things that happen in other countries are a lot more interesting to study like the Holocaust, and Imperialism and such. If you like the Holocaust, you should watch Schindler's List. It's a really good movie, I love it.

Kineka: I usually fall for it when I'm really tired and when I'm not really listening to begin with. The better one is in school, in winter, when someone yells, "Hey look it's snowing!" Turns out it's not snowing and we all feel like idiots for falling for it.
The 20s-60s I find to be amazing. The music, clothing styles, the films made, and the lifestyles people lead were so interesting. Some of my favorite actresses, actors, and films all came from between the 40s-60s.

Nari: I loved Ancient Greece! Ancient Rome is also interesting, but I always loved Greek mythology (: I really want to watch Schindler's List. I've heard it's really amazing. American history can be pretty interesting though. I personally think the gangsters from the 20s and 30s are extremely interesting. Like Bonnie and Clyde, Ma Barker, John Dillinger, and Al Capone. John Dillinger, for example, lead a large wave of bank robberies during the Great Depression. Because of him, Bonnie and Clyde and Ma Barker the United States has the FBI.

Thulie: Got to love Victorian fashions :3 I wish we'd go back to those styles, or at least modernize them
PostPosted: Wed Jul 22, 2009 6:07 pm

The whole steampunk fashion out now is like a modernized victorian era. its very fun smile but i dont know if i could pull it off haha, need to lose a few pounds first ^^
