Ambrose barked a laugh at Vasile's comments. His mind was eager to seek a refuge from the depression he had been in the past few days and to shunt off the horrific scene he had just witnessed. With Colche and Amaya's recent changes, Ambrose had silent fears that he wasn't far off either.... and what more could or would happen to him? He was so animalistic already. No... no thoughts of that! Not now. There were too many things that would be too easy to draw him into another depression.
"This is true. I'm no naturalist, but Vasile has a point, Ian. Without your antlers, don't you look more like a female deer?" He gave him an unwittingly toothy grin. "What... ah... what happened to them, anyway?"
"And... I agree, Vasile... and Ian. I mean... if we can get sick without our injections.... if we'd be scorned as ... freaks on the mainland. As much as I hate what they've done, what alternative do we have? If we piss off Aubrey...." Ambrose glanced warily to Zach, "And by the sounds of things it may have already happened.... then what do we have left?"
"Zach, You... you don't understand. You're still human. I don't know if you've gotten any looks or anything merely because of your missing arm.... but could you imagine how bad it would be if you looked like one of us?" He gave a shudder. The thought that he couldn't keep out of his mind - the look of horror he had received on the face of his father... "Do you know what you're becoming?" He asked straightforwardly.
"But no... I don't know of a Lilly.." He replied, not sure where this was leading.

Vasile sat back, quietly listening to the gossip of the island. He new little of the staff, or this Lily person.

Zach had deftly avoided commenting on the beauty of the mammalian people around. He still saw them as... strange. Different. No longer human. Whatever beauty they had was a "puppy cute".
"Yeah... yeah, I'm still human..." At Ambrose's words, Zach automatically placed his hand on the top of his left shoulder, almost defensively. He gazed pensively at the wolf-man. "You know, I sort of know what being a freak is like, without the ears or the fur or anything. This is... not having an arm is something considered grosteque. I know you guys have it a lot worse, turning into animals, but I've seen disgust in peoples' eyes just from looking at me. And I'm sure I've done the same to you, and I'm sorry. I'll learn my lesson, I guess."
He looked away, glancing at Vasile a moment, suddenly embarassed by his own remarks. "I don't know what I'll become... I guess I don't want to know, either."
He soon remembered the subject he'd started to talk on. "Lily... well, this redhead in a jeep said she cost him two million dollars... apparently, she worked for the doctors here. She's still being paid for it, too."

That caught Ian entirely off guard. "Lily worked for Moreau?! But she was so nice, and she was stuck outside like the rest of us. But if she cost him. . ." Would that have made Moreau turn her into an animal like the rest of them?
He looked at Zach, then at Ambrose before his eyes slid to Vasile. "Seems like mistakes from inside aren't tolerated, and that the b*****d holds grudges." His voice was low before he answered Ambrose's question.
"My antlers fell of. Deer lose their antlers, I'll regrow some soon." He didn't know exactly when, he was going off of what information he did know. "And female!" he almost sputtered. "I can't look like a girl!" Why was he thinking that? Why did he wantVasile in his herd. . .And why would he have to be female to have Vasile in a herd. Ian didn't know enough about deer to realize that male red deer had a herd of females during the rut.

"That's my point, Zach. If you were treated that badly 'back home'... then if we went, I would expect people to be wielding pitchforks and torches.... or at the very least only go home to wind up in a governmental lab somewhere where they try to reverse engineer whatever the hell Moreau did to us." His ears pinned back pessimistically.
"And... apology accepted. At least from me. I know I would have done the same thing if I came as 'late' as you. Hell, I can still be accused of staring myself sometimes. None of this is natural or right. And I don't blame you for not wanting to know. Angelina didn't either... it's a catch 22 of being afraid that you'll get turned into something 'bad' - if you ask, it might confirm it and ruin the rest of the time youv'e got left as a ... full human.... but of course, if you don't ask, you spend that time worrying about it anyway, but at least there's the hope."
He shook his head again. "I don't think I've ever met her. But.... that is... strange. So she's an islander now...?" Ambrose tried to piece together between what Zach and Ian said. He shook his head again. Costing him millions on dollars in damage? He supposed that he couldn't exactly send her home or fire her. But still. It set the fur on the back of his neck on edge.
"aaah." Ambrose commented to Ian. "I didn't know that. I'm sorry, So even when your changes are done you'll still have to periodically grow antleres..?" It sounded so odd to talk about something like this casually.
Now that the change was over, Ambrose made quick work of the cooling food he had got from the lunch line.

Vasile sat in quiet resignation, picking at his food. "So this chick pissed off the doctor.. and even though she was working for him, she fuked up and ended up like one of us?" He shook his head, almost sadly. "So much for 'better to be the right hand of the devil than in his path.' Job pressure must suck." Hsi tone was quiet and bitter, not able to more than a few minutes without staring at his hands.
"Do you really think there would be torches and pitchforks? Hell, we'd be celebrities.. er," he chuckled awkwardly. "But seriously... yeah the docs would want to see us.. but the media would be all over it. We'd be signing million dollar 20/20 and Opra contracts like nobody's business."

He looked to Ian. "I don't know... She thinks her changes were 'interesting.'"
Zach shrugged at Ambrose, his expression a little hopeless despite his words. "M-maybe there is a way to undo what's happened to all of you..."
"Late, huh... It sounds like it was better not knowing what was going to happen. I've been worrying about this a lot. I mean, I met Pyroth today. He looks like a dog or something. I don't even know if he can walk on two legs now."
He smirked at Vasile's comment. "Yeah, you guys would become rich pretty quickly if you managed to get off this rock. Not everyone would look at you guys as... well... monsters."

Seeing Vasile glance at his hands Ian smiled grimly. "I wouldn't sign any contracts. Not that I can anymore." he barked a laugh that sounded more like a deer call ((forgive me for being unable to describe the sound better)) than a laugh. "But yeah, I'll probably be having antlers growing back soon. Sounds painful to me."
Ian scratched his head idly, wondering how long it would be before he got antlers again. He coudn't feel anything, but that didn't mean they weren't there. "I think my changes are interesting. I mean, that isn't how I would describe them out loud, but if our changes aren't interesting as well as other things, what are they? Perhaps she just had better control of the situation having worked for Moreau before. It doesn't mean she is bad!" Why wasIan defending her? She had kept who she was hidden from them.
Then Ian smiled at Vasile, "cheer up! Think of the good things, for yu grey hair doesn't mean your getting old!" Ian didn't want to see everyone depressed right now, it made him think about his upcoming changes that Ambrose had mentioned. And Pyroth. . .he was walking on four legs now. Would that happen to all of them?

Ambrose frowned at his empty plate, but not for its lack of contents, but more from Vasile's words. "So instead of being monsters, we'll be in an overglorified Freak Show." His ears plastered back. "Well paid freaks, but be honest - that's what the 'American Viewers' would see us as. I can imagine the home audience now. 'Wow, I'm glad I'm not them'. 'Poor bastards.'"
"And thanks for the sentiments and encouragements, Zach. Maybe, but something tells me that you'd have to have been doing as much research as Moreau has to be able to even begin to understand the process... and being all of this is illegal - hence the secret island..." He sighed. "I'm not trying to sound pessimistic. Just.... realistic. Don't get me wrong - a boat comes by, and I'll be the first one on board. But I don't think it's likely. And even if we did get off, we're probably committing ourselves to dying of cancer. Ambrose was feeling bitter. And a lot of it probably had to do with the subconscious worry about Angelina and witnessing another islander he considered a friend take a step farther from his humanity.
"whu... what? Pyroth.. changed again?" Ambrose swallowed. Last he had seen Pyroth they were almost as much twins as he and Vasile was now. "Can't.. stand up?" Ambrose's eyes went round, his ears crumpling. "But... the staff... they said... they said" Aubrey's words came back to him. "She thought....." This was experimental. Colche didn't seem much more changed than he did at the moment.... but who knew? Some of the islanders took huge steps between two injections, some small steps. This was experimental, what if some of them became animals? Honest to god Animals? Or at least on all fours, no longer having hands. He shut up... and began to feel nauseous.
He'd have to see Pyroth..... sometime. Maybe he shouldn't on the other hand. Or paw. "I think... I think I'm going to go back to my duplex and wait to hear about Angelina's condition." He said, his voice deadpan.
He stood up, not even bothering to bus his tray for once, hands stuffed into his pockets, and headed out the cafeteria door.

Vasile looked up after Ambrose as he left. His ears twitched and he suddenly didn't want to be out of his presence. "Hey, uhm, hold up!"
Vasile stood and looked to Ian and Zach. "Ugh, thanks I guess.." he said to Ian, fiddling with his hair. "But uh.. I gotta go."
He trailed quickly after Ambrose.

Zach glanced over at Ian. So, he was a deer? Now that it had been mentioned, he did look rather like one... the lack of antlers did throw Zach off, though.
Zach frowned. Ambrose was right. They were stuck here, forever. Somehow, even in the face of such obviously true words, he still managed to block them from truly getting to him. There was still a little hope, however much it had begun to wane, that prevented him from taking the thought of being trapped forever as hard as he should have.
Zach's frown deepened. "Yeah... I was surprised too... I... I didn't even recognize him when I saw him."
He waved goodbye to both canine-looking men as they left, wordlessly. He looked over at Ian, but could find little to say. Perhaps he should head back to his duplex as well. His jaw was still a little swollen and sore from the abuse it had been taking. Maybe he could ease the pain a little bit.
He headed for the door, turning around right before he exited to address the deer-man. "I think I need to take care of something right now... it was nice talking to you... I guess..."

[nu RP] Colche padded in to the Cafereria. She realkly hadn't realised how far a run it would be through the jungle, she was tuckered out that was for sure. She panted and pushed the door to the cafeteria open with a humph and a deep raspy breath. she needed water.
Padding over silently to the service area she lifted a bottle of water and drank it in seconds draining the cool clear water and finally managing to stop panting. Flopping in to the closest chair she looked around for evidence of that mornings rumble. There were no men there now, she wondered what happened to Chubbs. She would find him later and cuddle him better.
Hder tail tip twitched as she stood once again remembering what she came for, Chocolate cake! slipping on those velveteen paws she searched for ehr favourite type, double chocolate gataux, the dinner lady usually left her a nice big slice and today wasn't a day to dissapoint. Scooping up the plate she turned around and sat at one of the benches with a spoon, double chocolate gataux was far too messy to be eaten with hands, you had to use a spoon!

Most of Amaya's day had been spent running about looking for the little cheetah girl. She had even stopped at her duplex and looked inside to see if she was there sleeping to no avail. With a sigh she looked at the setting sun with a frown. Not much longer and she'd start getting too tired to look for her. Shoulders slumped as she headed to the cafeteria. Might as well eat dinner and go to bed so she could look for her tomorrow.
The iguana pushed open the double doors to the cafeteria, minding her bandaged tail. She wasn't really afraid of bumping into someone right now...
Though as her green eyes raised to look around she noticed the very person she had been looking for all day.
"Colche!"
Eyes wide, the girl ran over to her.

Colche's head flickered up at the call of her name. her big blue eyes smiled though, a familiar voice, a familiar face. She puurred and got up from her seat. Though it had been a few days since the incident with billy the bruises on ehr torsoe were still visable the one on her belly most of all though it was no longer swollen it was black and bluein colouration. That didn't stop her grinning and running forwards a few steps pouncing her friend in an all mighty huggle. She puurred happily her furry muzzle burying in Amayas cloaths.
"not seen forever" she stated to her green lizardly friend puuring in a delighted manner holding on to her without looking up, she was glad to see the woman, her big sister.
