"She's not who you think she is," Arlen said softly. "I don't really understand all of it, but she cast an illusion on herself with the intent of getting close to me and luring me away from the Muffin to be captured."

"That explains nothing about why she is currently here." Lily told him, voice tight. "I don't care who she is... the woman fooled the both of us with ease, nearly killed me, and you brought her home with you."

Lily sighed and looked over at him, ears drooped, a sad and tired expression on her face. "I changed my mind. This can wait until tomorrow. I'm tired of trying to process this... it gives me a headache." she told him softly. "Finish your food, alright?"

"So am I." Lily murmured. Then she went quiet, staring down at her hands, ears completely drooped over. She still needed to cry, she realized suddenly, frowning, feeling the tears tucked away inside. Biting her lower lip, forcing herself to forget her anger, she turned to him, and put her head on his shoulder.

Arlen leaned back against her, setting his half finished food down. It wasn't how he had imagined it. He had expected it to be all smiles or pretty close. He didn't expect it to hurt like this.

Lily gave a bit of a sniffle, then hid her face in his shoulder, hugging him tightly. "I missed you so much." she whispered suddenly, trying not to cry. "I was so afraid..."

Lily gave a small mewling sound, then crawled into his lap, curling herself into a ball there. Closing her eyes, she snuggled as close to him as she could, hands playing with the ends of his hair.

Lily nodded and nuzzled his neck, then looked up into his eyes. "Arlen... could we go upstairs now?" she asked, eyes shimmering wetly. "The beds all covered with books, but I can move them easily enough."

Shadow paced around Baizou's room, stopping in front of the long mirror. Baizou had a tall lean body. He was in good physical condition and health. Not to mention how magically inclined he was. Now, there was the whole cold-blooded thing to worry about, but that really wasn't such a big problem during the summer. Shadow leaned into the mirror and pulled at a lock of Baizou's hair, "Gods this boy certainly is... vibrant." He complained, scrunching his nose. "I'll be spotted a mile away with this hair." And so Shadow changed it. It began to darken at the roots until the ebony spilled over his three feet of hair like hot oil. He reached up and pulled on Baizou's ears, "And what are these? Satellite dishes? Unnecessary." He snapped his fingers and Baizou's ears shrunk and changed into normal human ones. He looked behind him at Baizou's, now black, tail. "That could be useful for balance." he decided, not really knowing a good enough spell to hide it that Baizou's magic could support. Shadow shook his head, "Stupid kid. Do you see that, Baizou? How tragically beautiful a pathetic gesture called 'love' can ruin your life? This is what you get for being a fool, you b*****d."
