Chocovash3 pezhi randomgothchick13 jeez you kinda are i go through atleast 1 every week but my band directore has really weak ones. lolz and hi nice to meet you -giggles- smile ..1 a week? i use size 2 1/2 reeds...and it takes me at least 2-3 months to crack one..e.O how do you guys do it? I imagine by not taking good care of them wink I played sax in marching band and clarinet in concert band and would go over a year on a reed. I broke them in regularly, and swapped them if I found a better one, but I made sure to not let my reeds get chipped >< I play on strength 5 Vandoren 56 reeds on clarinet, and for both alto and tenor sax I use medium-hard Fibracell reeds... those are synthetic, sound great, and you can literally flick the tip and it wont chip or crack. I don't practice sax enough to keep my cane reeds in check, so the fibracell saves me money and I don't have to worry about breaking a reed when I'm at a crowded convention! CHOCOVASH smile hi do you remember me??? How are ya?
Mm I miss using 56 reeds, but they were too stiff for me :/ eventually my teacher told me to back down...to the normal vandoren reeds, I'm using 31/2s now sweatdrop
off to practice...so much to practice...

mmm..hi there everyone. I've been playing since sixth grade - I'm a senior now...so thats...uhhh...seven years? Yeah. I'm Assistant Section Leader this year fot the Lakeshore High School Marching Shorians. Feels like just yesterday I was a Fresman clarinest - out of place in pit band cause I couldn't go to Band Camp. Ugh - pecussion. Bad memories. Xylophone is fun though - if anyone ever wants to start playing it, I'll help out.

What's a good way to improve tone? This will be my third year of playing clarinet, so I know all of the things about having a square jaw and a tight embouchure. I do all of those things. But I'm still sharp unless I pull out the joints. I even bought a better mouthpiece; a Vandoren M13. I just bought a brand-new E11, too. Are there any other ways to improve my tone?
